Rogelio Martinez, Killed Border Agent, Laid to Rest: ‘It’s Sad to Lay Down One of Our Own’

20

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions joined in the mourning of killed U.S. Border Patrol agent Rogelio Martinez over the weekend, at a time when most of the nation was celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday.

U.S. Border Patrol agent Rogelio Martinez was killed in the line of duty.

The funeral mass for Martinez was held at a Catholic church in El Pason, Texas, this past weekend.

A delegation from the White House was on hand to grieve.

Breitbart gives the details:

U.S . Attorney General Jeff Sessions led a delegation of officials and law enforcement officers to join the family of deceased Border Patrol Agent Rogelio Martinez to honor his life. The funeral mass for Agent Martinez was held at a Catholic church in El Paso, Texas on Saturday afternoon.

“It’s sad to lay down one of our own to rest,” Border Patrol agent and spokesman Ramiro Cordero told the dozens of reporters gathered to cover Martinez private funeral. “It’s sad to see that he made the ultimate sacrifice. But it honors me, and it honors every single law enforcement agent that he was willing to do that — to protect our nation, to protect our borders and to protect those who serve.”

Border Patrol agents found Agent Martinez and his partner after they responded to some type of “activity” near the West Texas town of Van Horn, Breitbart Texas reported on November 19.

One agent radioed for help and said that he was injured. Responding agents found Martinez with serious injuries to his head and body. He would later be pronounced dead from those injuries. The agents found Martinez partner who also sustained serious injury.

The exact nature of the death of Matinez and the injury to his partner are being investigated by FBI agents. Investigators said they are pursuing many possible scenarios but are investigating the matter as “an assault on a federal agent.”

The National Border Patrol Council and other Border Patrol agents who were at the scene reported the death appeared to come from an attack.

Border Patrol officials carried out a massive manhunt for any possible attackers.

Martinez’ aunt, Olivia Barnes, told reporters that she supports the border wall as proposed by President Donald Trump and asked how many more agents had to die before we would secure our border.

“I’m angry,” Barnes told the New York Times, “How many agents have to die to give security to the country?”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a $20,000 reward for possible attackers of Agent Martinez on Monday. FBI officials later announced an additional $25,000 reward for information on the case.

Following the funeral mass in El Paso, a long procession of federal law enforcement vehicles escorted the flag-draped casket of Agent Rogelio Martinez to his final resting place, the El Paso Times reported on Saturday evening.

Saluting law enforcement officers, family members, and supporters stood along the procession route to honor the agent who gave his life to defend the borders of our nation. A bagpipe greeting the procession as they arrived at the cemetery.

The El Paso native graduated from Irvin High School in 1999. He joined the U.S. Border Patrol in 2013. He is survived by a son, two brothers, and his fiance.

Martinez’ father, Jose Martinez, told the El Paso Times on Monday, that he told his son the job was too dangerous. “Dad, it’s the job I like,” Jose Martinez said his son told him. “I want to defend my country from terrorists … I want to prevent terrorists and drugs from coming into the country.”

“Unfortunately, he had a very dangerous work shift,” Jose Martinez told the local news reporter.

Border Patrol Agent Rogelio Martinez was the 116th law enforcement officer to give his life in service to this country during 2017. Since his death, two other law enforcement officers have died including Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Damon Allen who was shot and killed on Thanksgiving day.

Is it not about time these illegal alien invaders started suffering, instead of being treated with free living in the U.S.?
Remember, the People are the power in the United States. We lost another fine American to the illegal aliens and nothing is done. Heck, in Southern California, the signs are in spanish and the businesses take pesos. All the while, Americans piss their pants, drink beer and watch football. Cowardice and apathy has lost our country to the illiterate, diseased, marxist mexicans and the communist democrats.

Baseball and basketball, that’s what we watch now.
Pretty true what you say, though, Toledo Steel. We are now living in The Socialist Workers’ Paradise of the USSA. Our reason for existing, apparently, is to soothe the third world with the sweat of our brows, because Dude, we whites are evil – keep up with the current agitprop, will you? [outraged sarcasm]
      Sick semper T. :P

I was told a few days ago that in San Diego….the Spanish words are not so prevelant as is the Arabic language.
Illegal is illegal… it’s all bad, except the Arabic speakers want to behead us.
The devil is damned…. Islam is damned…. it’s just a matter of when.
Meanwhile, Americans must be ready to fight and kill the enemy.
No choice….we must MAGA, or perish.

Trump needs to get somebody in charge of the BP that the rank-and-file are cool with and will protect our borders, not some bureaucrat holdover from the Soeotoro administration

There is moderation on this site? Crikey, who could tell.

      • Mahou Shoujo

Have no idea as to what the criteria are to get moderated, of how to appeal. Seem to be a moderation virus?

        • IzlamIsTyranny

Moderation in all things! Especially in free speech!

    • IzlamIsTyranny

It could very well be it was moderated by disqus and had nothing to do w/Ms. Geller or her staff at all. I’ve been censored at least once this week for posting a derogatory picture of muhamMUD the prophet for profit — what are the odds Ms. Geller, of all people, would do something like that?

      • Mahou Shoujo

Every time I see a moderated comment, I try to figure out why, not too often that I do.

The Military should be placed on the border. Anyone who comes over the border illegally should be considered an invader committing an act of war and shot dead. No exceptions.

    • durabo

I live in Arizona. In these border states, there are tens of thousands of willing volunteers ready to take our long rifles and engage armed invaders crossing the border, Let USBP deputize us, give us our ROE, and we will make the border semi-secure.

  • ladywarrior

Every time the “government” comes in to investigate….and then almost immediately goes silent and quiet……like this Border Patrol attack and the Las Vegas attack….you know it’s radical Muslims whether it be ISIS or the Antifa they are training…..
This is the identical thing they have have done in Europe when attacks starting happening over there…..
While they worry about “Islamaphobia” …..we worry about being killed by our own government’s stupidity and Globalism.

  • Andrew Sears

the democrap corrupt fbi will do nothing as in the past. the only leader that wants to make our country great and safe again is being stopped by a two party cartel, and the American citizens bitch but will not unite to change it

    RIP Mr. Martinez.
