UK: Anti-terror watchdog wants ‘naive’ young jihadis to not be prosecuted on their return from ISIS

Naive? These ISIS savages are killers. If anyone is naive, it’s Max Hill and the rest of the British establishment. And they will pay for their naivete when these returning ISIS jihadis get back to the jihad, this time in the UK.

“Anti-terror watchdog wants ‘naive’ young jihadis to not be prosecuted on their return from ISIS,” by Nicholas Cecil, Evening Standard, October 20, 2017 (thanks to G E):

Teenagers who “naively” travelled from Britain to join Islamic State in Syria should be given space to reintegrate into society on their return rather than be prosecuted, Britain’s anti-terror watchdog said today.

Max Hill QC warned against “losing a generation” of young men, and some women, by putting them through the courts after having being lured to go to the warzone by IS propaganda.

He spoke out a day after EU Security Commissioner Julian King said up to 8,000 foreign fighters in Syria and Iraq may return to Europe after the fall of the IS stronghold of Raqqa.

Around half of the estimated 850 Britons believed to have gone to join the extremists are now believed to be back in the UK.

Mr Hill, the independent reviewer of anti-terror legislation, told BBC radio: “The authorities have looked at them and looked at them hard and have decided that they do not justify prosecution, and really we should be looking towards reintegration and moving away from any notion that we are going to lose a generation due to this travel.

“It’s not a decision that MI5 and others will have taken lightly.

“But they have left space, and I think they are right to do so, for those who travelled out of a sense of naivety, possibly with some brainwashing along the way, possibly in their mid-teens and who return in a state of utter disillusionment and we have to leave space for those individuals to be diverted away from the criminal courts.”

The stance faced immediate questions given that supporting a terrorist organisation such as Islamic State is a criminal offence in the UK.

Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell, who sits on the Commons foreign affairs committee, said: “The presumption should be that all people who went to join IS should be dealt with by the criminal justice system unless there is a good reason why not.

“IS is an utterly barbaric organisation still intent on carrying out terror attacks in Britain and everything possible must be done to stop its supporters being involved in such atrocities.”

Tory MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown added: “We should take a tough approach on this. Protecting against any future terror attack must be the primary concern.”

Mr Hill stressed that he was not saying that all Britons who have joined IS should escape prosecution.

He said: “Some of those who travelled will have committed the most serious criminal offences and in any case where there is evidence of that, then there is only one place to go and that is to a criminal court in this country to decide on guilt or innocence.”

Richard Barrett, former counter-terrorism director at MI6, added: “Many of them went to join something new, something that looked bright and attractive and satisfied some of the needs in their lives and probably found that did not exist out there and so came back highly disillusioned.

“But also somebody going off to join the Islamic State is not likely initially to be somebody going off to train to be a domestic terrorist.”

As they say, from this article I believe that the Brits are “on the horns of a dilemma.” Yet, my concern is that they must first accept and recognize the reality that these so-called ISIS fighters are the products of a belief system, a cult called Islam, which has as its basis a claim and right that they are Aryans, that they must Dominate all non-Muslims, that they must Subjugate all those non-Muslims who will not accept their belief system, that they must force on the indigenous people a theocracy and overthrow the secular form of government that functions within free world societies. Since those beliefs clearly motivated these fighters to join ISIS, is there any reason to believe that those factors can be safely removed from the mindset of these returnees. The Brits have to seriously recognize what they are facing, as do all countries that will face this same problem. I certainly cannot offer a solution, though I recognize that the perfect answer is to keep them out of those countries facing this dilemma, if the authorities have appropriate laws that might allow them to do that, even when those returning are citizens.

    • Poppey

I agree Dennis, trouble is we have far too many politicians actively courting the Muslim vote by staying silent about CSE and actually raising petitions this time last year to stop the “Prevent” strategy from be deployed.
All this immigration was designed by Blair’s regime to disable the UK, Corbyn is just the latest to carry it on.

      • Dennis

While you and I generally agree about the serious problems we all face from the cult of Islam, I do not believe the leaders purposely acted in a manner that is contrary to the good of their countries. The problem does comeback to the continuous need to get re-elected to office, and the failure to control that by accepting term limits and other requirements that will help those elected properly do their job to benefit all the people. Those leaders who have fallen into that trap are failing to see “the forest from the trees.” Their attempt to be “politically correct” will result in serious harm to the indigenous population, and from my prospective, those type leaders need to be removed from their office in the next election before it is too late.

        • Michelle

You are far too kind to the politicians generally IMHO.

    • Pray Hard

The Brits aren’t going to realize or face anything. They’re going to die at the hands of moslems.

      • Bill

        Convert or die.

  • Loretta Herzog

With this kind of rationale, why prosecute anyone for any crime at all? Might as well open all the jails and let the criminals run free.

    • But they will prosecute to the full extent of the law for supposed hate crimes against muzlum savages.

  • Poppey

An interesting read but I would sugest it may not be Mr Max Hill’s children who get punched or blown up by those coming back but other peoples who don’t know about all this.

As for the point about “moving away from any notion we’re going to lose a generation” in the view of anyone with more numbers on the IQ scale than their shoe size, the “loss” of a generation of young males of a faith which led them into mass rape, torture, beheading of innocent civilians and genocide would be positive gain for a civilised society, and it seems some agree with me.

    • Michael Garfinkel

Does Max Hill really believe that there was naiveté at work in motivating these recruits to to join an army that boasted on every social media platform of their commission of unspeakable crimes?

Whether Hill believe this tripe or not, he has shown himself to be a fool – and a dangerous one at that.

Is that what it takes these days, to become a prominent attorney, a QC, in Britain?

  • Mahou Shoujo

But of course, definitely do not prosecute them, for directly to executing them, save a lot of time and bother.

    • pandainc3

      Beat me tuit again.

      • Mahou Shoujo

        2 out of 3?

        • pandainc3

          Shure. Y knot?

  • Patrick Leary

This is stupid. Take them off the boat and put them in the jail for a long time “crimes against humanity” would be a good start.

    • Saved1973

If you put them in jail they’ll just use that as an opportunity to proselytize & indoctrinate others in the prisons. The only sensible solution is execution, or solitary confinement for the rest of their lives.
I say hang them in the center of town, & since they believe that if they touch pork that they’re “defiled” & can’t enter Paradise, prior to execution, they should be smeared with pigs blood, fat & entrails, as an example for all who would follow their example, & the penalty should be exactly the same, whether the terrorist is male or female.

  • Pray Hard

And, they’re outraged at Trump …

  • Ziggy46

This idiocy confirms, not that it is in need of confirmation, the Brit Overlords are certifiable nutters. The government and its agencies don’t give a toss about national security or the safeguarding of its citizenry. None of this is shocking, this inanity or insanity has been an ongoing directive of the Overlords. Undoubtedly, the leadership holds a death-wish for the non-Muslim public. The returning young Jihadis were likely not naive nor are they now; it is a certainty, however, that this supposed Anti-Terror Watchdog is not solely naive but in a state of utter denial. Once again, the Brit leadership, parliamentarians and the aforementioned are tossing the nation under the proverbial Double-Decker bus.

Nor should we be smug; we have innumerable politicos and leftist-progressive factions suffering from a similar lack of foresight and commonsense.

  • Sgtsnuffy

    • Michelle

That was phased out in the reign of King Charles II. IIRC H,D & Q, was last performed on all of those who signed the death warrant for King Charles I, whether they were alive or dead(exhumed and the same). This included the corpses of both Cromwells as the UK elite always get “their own” back. Before then it was open season on the small people and most people have NO idea just how badly they were treated in the UK. But they will FIND out when islam takes over as executions are a real favourite social pastime in muslim states.
Do note the wheel in the background for “executing via the wheel” a really nasty and far slower way of killing and almost as bad as the worst way: crucifixion. Impaling was far worse than H,D & Q but better and quicker than the wheel and crucifixion.

  • Saved1973

“Anti-Terror” should also be in parentheses in that persons title, since they’re promoting terror, not curbing or preventing it.
Yeah, great move, bring the ones who went to Syria etc. to learn how to be effective terrorists, back into the U.K. to use those skills on your own countrymen.
Are those people suicidal or just plain stupid?

    • Achmed

I would hazard a guess that odds favor the latter. For some, it could be a combination. However, for the vast majority .. .they’re “just plain stupid”.

  • Michelle

They are already lost so simply dropping them off in the ocean a l’Argentina airlines would do the world a favour.

  • Long Ben

Hill & Barrett be trippin, these young naïve waifs have done set their hand to the shedding of innocent blood, how but by Jesus will they be reformed?

  • Drew the Infidel

And they are mad at President Trump for pointing out the obvious?

  • SteveB✅ Proud Deplorable

  • santashandler

“Max Hill QC warned against “losing a generation” of young men, and some
women, by putting them through the courts after having being lured to go
to the warzone by IS propaganda.” Yes, upon their return, they should all be given a ticker-tape parade, complete with battle medals given to them by Ms May. Why, Mr. Hill could even bake them cookies and invite them over to his house where he could listen to their “courageous” stories of battle.

“But also somebody going off to join the Islamic State is not likely
initially to be somebody going off to train to be a domestic terrorist.” Um, what?? That’s exactly what they are doing. Was this statement made by a patient at central London mental hostpital. It was sent out as a gag from MI6, right. Anybody in British gov who thinks this, let alone says this, should be removed from office immediately.

  • peter schneider

They’re not coming back. The Kurds will execute all foreign fighters captured in Raqqua. They say they’ve gotten a quiet ok from all the western governments. A French spokesman has publicly stated “we don’t want them back” and an American official said, “If you’re captured in Raqqua you’re going to die in Raqqua”. Sorry I don’t have a link. I read it earlier today, on Drudge I think. Made my day.

  • Mike Kevins

“Anti-terror watchdog”? We have truly entered what was referred to in Superman comic books as ” Bizarro World” where everything is exactly opposite of what it’s supposed to be.

  • Mike Kevins

Max Hill QCstands for quack cuck!

  • Isaac_G

Then what do the pro-terror groups say?
