“Meticulous Planning” by Las Vegas gunman, “likely had an accomplice”: sheriff

This is terrorism.

Islamic State Jihadist Insists Terror Group Behind Las Vegas Massacre

Vegas shooter likely had an accomplice: sheriff, October 4, 2017:

BREAKING: The Las Vegas sheriff believes gunman Stephen Paddock did not act alone and had to have an accomplice.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday afternoon, sheriff Joseph Lombardo said “he had to have some help”.

Mr Lombardo said investigators did not have any other suspects at this stage, but they were “determined to find out if there was”.

“You look at the weapon obtaining, the different amounts of Tannerite [explosives] available, do you think this was all accomplished on his own?

“On face value, you’ve got to make the assumption he had to have some help at some point, and we want to ensure that that’s the answer.”

Mr Lombardo’s frank comments put into doubt explanation previously put forward by authorities that he was a “lone wolf”.

Meticulous Planning by Las Vegas Gunman Before He Opened Fire

By Jennifer Medina, Richard Perez-Pena, Adam Goldman, New York Times, October 3, 2017

Before he mowed down concertgoers from a perch high in a hotel tower, Stephen C. Paddock created a ring of surveillance around him, with video cameras in his suite and in the hallway, law enforcement officials said on Tuesday. But investigators were still at a loss to offer a motive for the massacre.

The cameras — apparently intended to warn of approaching threats — along with the 23 guns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and other equipment found in the gunman’s hotel suite, suggested a thought-out plan to have plenty of time to wreak carnage while holding the police at bay.

Local and federal investigators were also eager to interview the gunman’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who had been in the Philippines. She arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday night and was met by the authorities, according to a law enforcement official. Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said that at a minimum, she might shed some light on what was going through the mind of the gunman, who killed himself as the police prepared to enter his room.

Twelve of the rifles Mr. Paddock had in his luxury suite on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino were outfitted with a “bump stock,” a device that enables a gun to fire hundreds of rounds per minute, like a machine gun, which may explain how he was able to rain such devastation on the crowd below, law enforcement officials said. Such devices are generally legal, and the possibility that he may have used them set off a fresh round of calls by Democratic lawmakers in Washington to pass more gun regulations after the tragedy.

At 10:07 p.m. on Sunday, the gunman opened fire on the thousands of people attending a country music festival a few hundred yards northeast of the hotel, firing long, rapid-fire bursts as people screamed and ran for their lives. He killed 59 people — the coroner clarified on Tuesday that the number included Mr. Paddock, along with his 58 victims — and wounded hundreds of others. In all, more than 500 people were injured, most by gunfire, and some in the panicked rush to escape.

President Trump, who is expected to visit Las Vegas on Wednesday, said on Tuesday that Mr. Paddock was “a sick man, a demented man,” adding that “we are dealing with a very, very sick individual.” He said there would be some discussion about firearms legislation, but was not specific.

“We will be talking about gun laws as time goes by,” Mr. Trump said as he prepared to leave Washington for hurricane-battered Puerto Rico.

Police officials said that Mr. Paddock, 64, had set up two cameras in the hallway, including one on a service cart, and a third camera over the suite door peephole.

“I anticipate he was looking for anybody coming to take him into custody,” the sheriff said.

According to a law enforcement official who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity, investigators also were looking into whether Mr. Paddock had planned an earlier attack in Las Vegas before deciding to target the concert Sunday night.

His suite held more than 20 guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

OPEN Graphic

Mr. Paddock checked in on Thursday and kept the “Do Not Disturb” sign on his door for the next three days, so no maids entered the rooms, according to a hotel worker, who also was not authorized to discuss the matter. Housekeepers are allowed to enter a room with such a sign only in the presence of a security guard, and it happens rarely, usually after several days, the worker said.

The hotel staff is trained to look for anything suspicious, but the gunman’s behavior did not set off any alarms, the employee said. He had at least 10 suitcases in his room, the sheriff had said, which might have been used to bring the guns in without notice. But the hotel worker said it would have been easy to bring them to the room a few at a time without arousing suspicion.

Semiautomatic rifles, like those the gunman had, are made to fire a single round with each pull of the trigger. But recordings and witness accounts of the shooting made clear that Mr. Paddock was firing much faster, at a rate comparable to that of a fully automatic weapon, which quickly fires round after round with a single pull of the finger. Undersheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas police said that Mr. Paddock fired on the concertgoers for nine to 11 minutes, in about a dozen bursts.

Replacing the standard rifle stock, which rests against the user’s shoulder, with a bump stock like the ones Mr. Paddock had, allows a semiautomatic rifle to fire much more rapidly, like an automatic, firing hundreds of rounds per minute. The devices are usually legal and inexpensive, with some versions advertised for $99.

A bump stock allows the body of the rifle to slide a short distance back and forth, harnessing the recoil energy of each shot. The weapon bounces, or “bumps,” rapidly between shoulder and finger, essentially creating the action of repeated trigger pulls without the gunman having to move the trigger finger.

Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, a Democrat, has called for years for a ban on bump stocks, and she renewed that call on Tuesday, writing on Facebook, “This is the least we should do.” Congressional Democrats asked their Republican counterparts to establish a special committee to investigate gun violence.

Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican majority leader, rebuffed questions about potential legislative action during his regular news conference Tuesday afternoon, saying that the massacre was being politicized.

“Look, the investigation’s not even been completed,” Mr. McConnell said. “And I think it’s premature to be discussing legislative solutions, if there are any.”

Senator John Thune, the third-ranking Republican in the Senate, told an NBC News reporter that lawmakers “ought to take a look at” conversion kits that can make guns more lethal. But Mr. Thune also suggested little could be achieved through legislation.

Mr. Paddock was an avid gambler who often bet heavily at the major casino hotels, and Ms. Danley, 62, had worked for some of those hotels. They lived in Mesquite, Nev., 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, and he also owned a home in Reno.

The police have found a total of 47 firearms in his two houses and his hotel suite. Jill A. Snyder, the special agent in charge of the San Francisco office of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said that almost all had been traced, and that they had been bought in Nevada, Utah, California and Texas.

Leaked photos that showed parts of the scene inside and outside the hotel suite, including Mr. Paddock’s body, his rifles and spent ammunition shells on the floor, began circulating online Tuesday.

“What I can tell you is I’m very troubled by it,” Sheriff Lombardo said of the leaks, which his agency was investigating.

The police did release a video, a compilation of footage from officers’ body cameras, showing the chaos as Mr. Paddock began firing on the crowd.

“Hey, you guys, get down!” one officer shouted at bystanders between volleys of gunfire. “There are gunshots coming from over there. Go that way!”

Amid confusion about where the blasts were coming from, some people rebuffed requests to evacuate. “That’s fireworks!” one shouted at officers. Another yelled expletives.

As sirens blared and gunfire crackled, the video showed officers straining to find the source of the shots.

“Hey, they’re shooting right at us, guys!” one officer said as he and his colleagues crouched behind a wall with their weapons drawn. “Everybody stay down, stay down!”

“North of the Mandalay Bay, it’s coming out of a window!” another officer said.

I believe it is terrorism without a doubt, likely Islamic inspired. The question is will the “authorities” reveal to the public the truth.

    • tatka150

The answer is – NO. They will not.

      • Patrick

I think we would be better off if the local police led the investigation rather than the deep state corrupted FBI.

        • tatka150

Agree 100%. At least we would know finally wth happened.

        • hsfred

The FBI is there to ensure what needs to be removed, will be as I truly think they’re up to their necks in this as with at least 3 of the other shootings!

        • IzlamIsTyranny

The F-I_B is still undoubtedly very busy investigating the baconator terrorist incident in Las Vegas, NV. Those strips of bacon put across the door handles of a mosque made muslums cry allah over the world and the islamophobic perpetrators must be brought to justice.

    • Suresh

Agree, The killer is a Anti-Trump democrat and Antifa activist also claimed by ISIS.

There was also another shooter in the 10 th floor as shown in one of the videos in this article

ANd police is not pursuing that person !

    • CreoleGumbo

The possibility that the government could be behind this should not be ruled out. Remember Fast and Furious? It seems that the anti 2nd Amendment crowd has everything that they need here to make their case for limiting magazine capacity, limiting the type of guns available and limiting the amount and type of ammo available.

Just saying that the possibility should not be ruled out.

      • Michelle

If Clinton was in power I could agree but trump is so I do not.

        • CreoleGumbo

          1) Ever heard of the Deep State? Trump has not replaced all of Obama’s appointees. In fact most of them have not been replaced.
          2) Ever heard of Fast and Furious? Are you saying that the POSSIBILITY that this is what is taking place should not even be considered?
          You may find this interesting:

          • Michelle

yes point well taken…but it will be Trump who cops the blame.

        • Drew the Infidel

I’m in 100% agreement with you on that assessment. Anyone, and I mean any one else as President, and I would be worried.

      • marlene

The government could still be behind this. How many times have we heard “We were watching him…” but they always failed to “see” him – while he bought equipment, made the bombs, planned the attack, and carried it out?

    • IzlamIsTyranny

The ability to lie extemporaneously and on demand is an admired trait of muslums and politicians in the dying atheist West.

  • santashandler

So now, the Sheriff is saying what everybody has been shouting since minute one of this horror show. What seems to keep being overlooked, is the fact that there were two people who told concert goers, 45 minutes before gunfire erupted, that ‘people were going to die.’ These two were either the clairvoyant’s of the century, or they were working directly with Paddock, or whoever was behind it. So, yes, there had to be more than one person involved. Interesting how, with 22,000 people attending a concert and all of them in possession of cell phones, that no footage has yet emerged of the two mysterious people.

    • Larenzo1

      Beam me up Scotty.

    • sodacrackers2

And they were escorted out of the concert. The question is were they detained and if not, why not?

      • santashandler

Nobody has mentioned anything about them being detained or questioned. Perhaps they were and deemed unbalanced, or drunk and let go. Either way, the Sheriff doesn’t seem to be too concerned with this part of the incident.

        • sodacrackers2

Or maybe they now realize they should have questioned them or at least taken their identification. Who knows, just trying to make sense in a senseless world.

      • Jim

Why not? Because this occurred 45 minutes *before* the shooting.

        • sodacrackers2

They were warning people which Islam sometimes does.

          • Jim

Could be, or they could have been “end-of-worlders.” “Repent now, for the day of reckoning is coming nigh.” I saw the interview of the woman who witnessed it, as I am sure you have. She didn’t seem to me to be wacky. She seemed down to earth, her reactions seemed genuine, but then, you never know about people. In any case, hopefully the police are looking into it.

          • Mike, Agent of S.O.R.O.S.

Have you ruled out the possibility that they were time travelers from the future?

          • sodacrackers2

Have you ruled out the possibility that they might have been in on it?

    • Michelle

More likely muslims in the know, having a big laugh at what is coming: that is so typical of them. As for the women? They were the ones who tortured./mutilated the enemy wounded/dead left on the battlefield (read Kipling on Afghanistan)so do not think that being female excludes them.

    • Jim

Crime investigators are known to hold back on certain things until they are satisfied with the answers. The withheld information also helps them when interrogating, oh sorry, “interviewing” “persons of interest.” An ace up their sleeve, as it were. Helps them determine whether someone knows the truth or not. However, we should be told the motive, if they know it. Four days without a motive, however, is highly unusual it seems to me.

      • santashandler

Holding back, is one thing. But THIS……is something completely different. There is way too much info that is being repressed

    • Larenzo1

If you are ever involved in an investigation of this type or others you will find some people make wild claims just trying to be relevant for some misguided reason.

  • cora L

I am not sure if Stephen Paddock fired any shots at all. He could have been framed for his money. If he did, then there is nonway he did it by himself. Were spent rounds found on the floor? Why did the rifle gun look like it was placed over Paddock’s leg all neatly after blowing his own brains out?? There was shooting from different angles. Mystery people entered to and from his hotel room. This was an act of terrorism.

    • Larenzo1

Now the conspiracies begin! Where is that gunman on the grassy knoll??

      • Michelle

Seriously AFAIAC there is no proof BUT do listen to the taxi recording as it seems to show two shooting styles: one professional and one amateurish and the former is only at the start and had plenty of time to leave while the firing continued.

        • Larenzo1

Seriously that is your evidence? You would not know professional from amateurish at this type of event. That is ignorance on stilts. You think they were taking aim and firing three round burst like a trained soldier?? With the number of people they were not taking aim at individuals they did not have to. Have you ever been in a firefight? I doubt it.

          • Michelle

Have you heard the shots fired recording? yes or no? Then please reread what I posted.

          • Larenzo1

I have heard the recordings and I have been under fire many times and been wounded. You are going to hear dozens of conspiracy crap for years. I would refer you to Occam’s Razor. You will find it to be the most useful here. Also no the terror attack on 9/11 was not preset explosives executed by our own government either.

          • Jim

Larenzo1, I concur with you. Always try Ockham’s Razor before going off on conspiracies.

And building 7 went down because of all the flaming, burning debris pushed forward by the airplane, out, and down on bldg 7. You can see videos of this. When steel or iron is heated to a certain temperature, red, it softens. It’s called being annealed. It does not have to be melted to bend it. To harden red hot steel or iron, one dunks it into cold water (like one sees “blacksmith’s” do in the cowboy movies). First try the simplest explanation, as you suggested.

          • Larenzo1

            You nailed it.

          • Michelle

Why should I think that 9/11 was other than a jihad attack? Why are you so certain that you are the only one who has been shot at or even wounded? Such arrogance is insulting. Do you agree or disagree that the first shots were interrupted bursts while the later shots were full auto? That certainly is NOT proof that there were two but it does make some of us think…although he probably warmed up and developed a taste for it. As for Occam’s Razor? Please!!: you ONLY know what they have allowed you to know and to call in Occam is a bit of a logic joke as everything that you know here, like everything I know, is based upon what we are allowed to know and the rest, is ALL speculation. BTW I did say AFAIAC & “seems” in the relevant post as opposed to it being fact but I guess that you missed that in the rush to clobber.

          • Larenzo1

You are making ignorant assertions. I am not arrogant and I know I am not the only person that has been shot at or wounded because I have seen to many others. But I know one thing you have not. You rush to jump to the conspiracy. You are easily insulted if your conspiracy is challenged like all that proffer these wild claims. I hope you are not out looking for the two mysterious women that gave the warning. So good luck hope you find them and spend days listening to the rounds being fired off. I am going to concern myself with the facts. Have a good time. Glad I can ignore people like you.

      • Jim

Lorenzo1, they do seem to be coming out of the woodwork in droves now. I guess it takes time for a “fertile mind” to come to harvest. ;-)

        • Larenzo1

          Yep it does

    • CreoleGumbo

We really do not know if that is Paddock’s body. It could be someone else designed for this elaborate set up.
It is pretty clear that there was another shooter on the 4th floor. It can be seen and heard.
Also there is interesting info in this video about the motivation of gun control and sale of body scanners as a possible motivation.

      • Jim

There is a photo out there of his bloody face. He is lying on the same type and color of carpet as in the other photos. Also in the photo are about 23 shell casings on the floor, and a gray revolver is about 2 feet past his head on the floor. The press, apparently, does not want to show it because it is “gory.” I have seen this photo. It was in a slideshow with the other photos we’ve all seen. Pretty much is him, 60 looking, bald from the front on top, gray beard cropped close. He’s wearing a brownish Hanley-style T-shirt, the same color as the one shown in the picture of his legs. Looks authentic to me.

        • Jim

PS, you can find this photo on the web. I did, but you have to search a bit. It is the last photo in the slideshow, so watch the whole slideshow.

          • CreoleGumbo

            Hi Jim
After writing this I saw the photo too.
But then another article came out indicating that it appeared as if he planned on leaving, which means that he may have sent that 100K to the Philippines with plans to meet with his girlfriend.
It does look like him but it could be the body of someone else; or someone else could have done the shooting. Either way we don’t know if that the body on the floor is that of the actual shooter.
I hope we get the truth about what happened.

          • Jim

            Ockham’s Razor.

Maybe he did want to escape, but he can have that desire yet end up doing suicide because he feels trapped by the police and can’t deal with prison life.

As for another person in the room, I assume the fancy hotel has CCTV cameras everywhere. If there were cameras, the other person is likely to be “captured” on one. The police are probably not putting all their cards on the table yet, due to holding an ace during an “interview” with a “person of interest.” This is common in crime investigating, that is, withholding some of the information while building a case. Hopefully they will release the videos when they don’t need to keep the cards close to the vest anymore.

Yes, I hope we get the full truth too. We don’t have Clinton as President, so we might just get it.

          • CreoleGumbo

Yes you are correct, especially that last point.
Have a great day and hope to chat with you again.

  • InfidelCrusader

This attack was indeed terrorism. It demonstrates a deep level of planning and preparation to produce the maximum amount of casualties in the minimum amount of time. If that cannot be considered an act of terrorism I’m not sure what would possibly earn that designation. The only thing that remains is to determine what motivated the attack.

    • sodacrackers2

      Hatred motivated it.

      • InfidelCrusader

Indeed it did. The exact nature of that hatred remains something of a mystery. Was it foreign (Islamic in nature) or domestic (politically motivated).

        • sodacrackers2

I think it was both. Lots of powerful people fanning the hate.

There is an old saying that the truth is stranger than fiction and this is getting to be like watching a gripping play or movie, you get impatient with the flow of the story. Many theories abound but, given Paddock’s exclusionary personality, he at least had what law enforcement terms “externals”, others with whom he had contact while formulating this tragedy. The truth will come out and surprise us all.

    • Jim

The reason that truth is stranger than fiction, I heard one movie director say, is that we write fiction for ourselves. .

It sounds to me like there were comments relating to multiple shooters. It could be there were problems spotting exactly where the shots were coming from but there’s too much other evidence – for example about the couple that was at the concert telling people they would be killed – and the neighbor who saw the wife trying to move out recently – to think this is cut and dry one guy losing it. Whatever you do, make plenty copies of this and other evidence.

Diversity destroyed ancient Rome. It started with Emperor Claudius (Tacitus tells us) easing up on some small things in relation to the Barbarians. 300 plus years later, with liberalism (for all intents and purposes), these former barbarians, now “citizens,” did not care so much for the old Roman traditions and culture, since they were not part of it during the beginning or the “golden age.” The old Roman ways were oppressive, because they were once excluede. They saw little point in defending the old Roman culture and tradition, they saw little point in dying for Rome, hence it fell. What followed was about 450 years of “darkness” and slavery (serfdom) for about 1000 years.

Nope, I don’t believe diversity is strength. Unity is.

I DON’T and will NEVER believe that MariLou had no clue or any involvement in this Las Vegas massacre. Perhaps, she wasn’t involved on the day of this SAVAGE’S plan but knowingly or naively she took part.

She was in atleast 1 gun store with Paddock. She called him quiet and sweet, which by most people’s description was NOT what they saw. They called him demeaning to her in public places.

Without a doubt Marilou has a lot to answer for. I DON’T understand how her conscience can be clear after the MASSACRE this SAVAGE reined upon innocent people at an outdoor concert.

Marilou is the key to knowing, understanding and disclosing vital information which will bring the truth to light.

It’s good she is cooperating, but she has to be squeezed for Paddock’s contacts, online and off, to provide his attitude in regard to religion, politics and life. After 3 or 4 years in his company she must know something.

  • MarvLS1

There are personal acquaintances who say there is NO WAY Paddock would do anything like this.

He is dead. He could have been already dead when the shooting was taking place. We don’t have film of him actually shooting anyone, or any evidence proving he shot anyone.

Maybe he did, but we have no proof – we can only take the word of the FBI or CIA…as if those are reliable sources…

I assume we are being conned until I see proof otherwise.

90 shot burst is incorrect. I put the audio in a audio editing program with shows the blips quite well and the total seconds. In the sample I checked he fired approximately 11.5 rounds a second. The burst I examined was the 2nd burst/volley. It lasted about 10.4 seconds. All the volleys I heard in the videos were of about the same length and rhythm. 11.5 x 10.4 seconds =~ 120 rounds. So the mag size had to be either a 120 round mag, or two 60 round mags ganged together. If he first, say, 12 volleys, 12 x 120 =~ 1440 rounds, which would be enough to hit approximately 600 people. 400 yards is well within the effective range of an AR-15. 11.5 x 60 yields a cyclic rate of about 690 rpm, which is in the ballpark of a full auto M16/AR-15 .

I wish you could post jpegs here. I’d post the sound wave with seconds markers so everyone, anyone could count them.

Anyone with a music audio editing program/app can do it too. There are even free ones out there that will get the job done. First convert the video sound to a wav file (one can get this app free too), load it into the app, count ’em off. Easy to locate the individual shots because they will have the highest peaks (highest amplitude).

It’s funny how gun control is the first thought of every tyrant in the US government — this despite the fact the muslums who commit terrorism demonstrably don’t give a FFF about gun control laws and neither do gangbangers.
Gun control only disarms honest citizens.

Don’t forget when the Orlando slaughter happened, the shooter called 9-11 and gave credit to Baghdadi and Islamic State while he was still murdering innocent people. A week later America’s corrupt Attorney General issued a statement saying they were still trying to determine the motive. Then phone transcripts were released to the press with his clear motive edited out.

ISIS is obviously taking credit for the Las Vegas slaughter all over social media. Maybe we should listen. Clearly we are at war, and limiting immigration from hotbeds of terrorism is the right thing to do, even if it upsets terrorists and Democrats.

    My Take

I tried to critical think this through. I believe there were
2 shooters different locations. One conducted fire in short bursts consistent
with automatic weapons training. This gives maximum control of the weapon. The
other was continuous fire which gives poor control of the weapon as well as
shots on target. Now was there a third shooter? A sniper? How many of the dead
suffered head shots? We will ever be told the truth? Unfortunately no. I
believe these were converted muzzy radicals who did
their due diligence in picking the target, time, type of firepower etc. This
was not a lone wolf attack it was planned. A Filipino girlfriend? yeah
right….they have been in a quasi civil war with muzzys over there for a very
long time. All of a sudden they lost track of the $100,000 dollar transfer? The
goobermint knows. When I spend money on Amazon I am inundated with similar
products for weeks afterword. They know where that money went but are not
saying. The communists democrats could not wait for the bodies to become cold
and they are wringing their hands for more gun control. Some say outright revoke of the Second Amendment. Apparently they don’t get it that we are in a war. Or they are traitorously involved.

I find it ironic that the left screams about dictators, nazis and fascism etc. but want to
remove the very thing that protects us from such people in positions of power
and regimes. Its called the Second Amendment. Guess what….To some of you I really don’t care if it hurts your little feelings or not. I believe this is Biblical and just
another “sign”. Genesis 6:5-13, Matthew 24:4-13, 2 Timothy 3:1-4. It appears most of ya’ll do
a great deal of your research. Well done.
