The Brazilian Visionary Who Sounded Warnings About Islam in the 1940s

48

Dateline, Paris, France 2017: They say that canaries forewarn about the impending calamities and natural disasters. Can there be human canaries that predict the onset of cultural disasters?  Yes! One of them (shunned by the Left, of course) definitely was this somewhat obscure Brazilian intellectual who lived and wrote during the worst times in the history of the Western world. Chances are that few in our audience have heard of Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira (1908-1995), a Brazilian politician, professor, priest and Catholic activist. He was the youngest congressman in Brazil’s history. He was the chair of Modern and Contemporary History at the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. A conservative Catholic intellectual by upbringing, he served as also the first president of the Sao Paulo Archdiocesan Board of Catholic Action. He opposed the religious reforms at the Vatican II council in the 1960’s, taking issue with Catholic liberalism. Not only that but politically speaking – he was ahead of his time because he was far-sighted politically – historically. He was a visionary of things distant in a world of short-sighted and scheming, petty men at a time when the Western peoples were busy pitilessly slaughtering each other during World War Two [1936/1939-1945] a conflict in which no side can claim a victory with pride or honor because had there been honor – a war like that would not have been allowed to occur. He wrote a number of insightful books in which he warned about the coming global conflict between the West and Islam. He tried to frame a binding perspective that would help save the West.

In the excerpts from his books (Revolution and Counter-Revolution, The Church and the Communist State: The Impossible Coexistence, In Defense of Catholic Action) quoted below, you will find the snippets of his thought that give a solid and accurate impression of his thinking. Needless to say, his pronouncements have been validated by the happenings since that time in the first half of the 20th century. Moreover, sadly, his thoughts are not mainstream ideas even today, at this late hour in the losing ideological battle against the unbending world of Islam and its satanic cult of victimhood for the sake of victimhood as a cover for evil.

He could have also added, “the oil resources of the Arab world will be leveraged against the West with the help of Western corporations and greedy politicians with no statesmanlike qualities“.

Is Islam conquering Europe?

A final forecast of Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira deserves to be recalled, at an hour in history where the shadow of Islam, laden with threats, looms on Europe.

At the end of the 20th century, Muslim immigration, which is ever more massive, has a religious and political significance because of the close connection between these two realities in the religion of Mohammed. This totalitarian perspective is made more insidious by the fact that Islam is a religion without dogma or Magisterium [official ruling authority in charge of faith], without Church or hierarchy, and therefore capable of adapting itself in a protean way to the social realities in which it develops.

As early as the 1940s, Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira predicted in the “Legionario” the possibility of this peril, which is now manifesting itself in all its magnitude.

While the eyes of political observers were focused solely on what was happening in Europe, he was directing his gaze towards the East, where, around Islam, he saw the germs of the “constitution of another vast political bloc and Ideological, oriental, anti-Catholic”. “The Muslim peril is immense,” he wrote in 1943, and the following year he asserted that “after this war [World War II] the Muslim problem will be one of the most serious religious questions of our time.

“The Muslim world possesses the natural resources essential to the supply of Europe. It will have the means to disturb or paralyze at any moment the pace of the European economy”. “While a great and glorious Catholic nation like Italy suffers from the communist intoxication that has penetrated into it, the Muslims structure themselves powerfully. These days they had the audacity to signal to the Western world by inviting him to accept a Palestinian government in exile with its seat in Cairo. This is a true declaration of diplomatic war on the West.”

“The Arab League – a very extensive confederation of Muslim peoples – now unites the entire Mohammedan world. It is, conversely, what Christendom was in the Middle Ages. With regard to the non-Arab nations, it presents itself as a vast pool of tribal manhood preparing an insurrection in all of Africa”.

He declared late in 1943: “Nowadays, everything is done through money, weapons and men, there is no shortage of money and men in the Muslim world, and the acquisition of weapons will not be difficult. The latter will be active, warlike, penetrated by its traditions, an enemy of the West and just as armed as he, and in a short time this power may become as influential as the yellow world [the Far East].”

As for the western politicians, de Oliviera declared: “One thing is to have sight, another is vision“.

    WOW!
    He had it RIGHT on.
I had never heard of him either.
Thank you Ms. Geller – I will get one of his books. I am not Catholic but his views of Islam would be interesting. He was a very bright man and way ahead of his time!

His view of the Church has been described as ultramontanist and his political ideology anti-Communist
To put his ideas into action, he founded the Brazilian Society for the Defence of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) in 1960. Corrêa de Oliveira’s opposition to the direction of the Council continued, and in a 1976 addendum to his book, Revolution and Counter-Revolution, he described Vatican II as “one of the greatest calamities, if not the greatest, in the history of the Church”. His strong opposition led to him being described as a “revanchist” within the ultra-traditional faction.

He served as president of the Brazilian TFP’s national council until his death in 1995. His treatise, Revolution and Counter-Revolution, inspired the founding of autonomous TFP groups in nearly 20 countries worldwide.

An admirer of Thomas Aquinas, he was the author of 15 books and over 2,500 essays and articles. His works include: In Defense of Catholic Action, Revolution and Counter-Revolution, The Church and the Communist State: The Impossible Coexistence, Nobility and Analogous Traditional Elites in the Allocutions of Pius XII, and many others.

    Excerpts from

Since I am not Catholic, theological books won’t interest me but
The Church and the Communist State:
    The Impossible Coexistence
    does interest.

Off to used books and Ebay to see if they have it. I don’t even have to look to know our library won’t have it, Yes, they ARE purging conservative books – not just in our library but across the country. It’s been going on at least since the early 1990’s. I’d often look for a particular book for my kids to read – GONE. I’d have to hunt for it online – used books or Ebay.

A catholic with a functioning brain that understands jihadi threat ? wow !

A rarity then and rarity now under islamonazi pope . And now he even questions christians on their faith http://tinyurl.com/ydy8fkhl

Its like he has sold his soul to Left/Islam agenda and only foolish ignorant christians are foolishly treating him with respect he does not deserve.

    • Michael Buley

it is a willing ignorance. they listen gleefully to the words that fit what Jesus would do, they ignore entirely words that show another side, another agenda, altogether. Like most world leaders, his agenda is globalism and one world government. His agenda is satanic.

      • IzlamIsTyranny

Even the devil can quote scripture to support his position.

        • Michael Buley

indeed, the devil does. we must discern.

        • santashandler

Yes. He does. And he has a lot of people on his payroll doing the same thing for him

    • santashandler

He’s sold his soul all right, but it ain’t the “Left/Islam agenda.”

  • Jeremy Steering

Future generations will curse us as they look at their countries ruined financially, socially and culturally by mass Third World immigration, and with total justification will ask the question: just what was so wrong with predominantly white, Christian, educated, democratic, free societies? Why did they have to be “enriched” and have “diversity” forced on them by bringing in millions from the world’s two most backward and violent cultures: Muslim and black African?

    • Michael Buley

Because such enrichment and diversity and multiculturalism would, over the long haul, destroy America from within. It was the only effective way to destroy our country. It could not be destroyed from without. From within? More subtle, diabolical, and effective. We could rebuild from an attack from outside. We can’t rebuild when what we were built on, is no longer there.

Why did we allow it? Very brilliant and evil people, long long ago saw what was needed, and used democracy and our freedoms, to destroy us from within.

And we fell asleep. For too long.

      • santashandler

That is precisely what has happened/happening

  • AR154U☑ᵀʳᵘᵐᵖ DEPLORABLE 2020
    • Ironically, Islam itself is very traditional and anti-diversity, it forces its followers to conform to a strict set of ancient rules and norms, and does not permit reform or deviation.

      Diversity DIVIDES!

      • Laird MacTavish

Divisively! Unity is our strength. Divided we FALL

  • Why are libtards so stupid?

Sir Winston Churchill had it figured out in 1899. Second paragraph on The River War:

The word has been out on the hazards of islam for centuries, but no one wants to pay attention, 30 pieces of silver still will buy anything.

    • IzlamIsTyranny

30 pieces of silver is worth a lot more than it used to be.

  • Simon Platt

It’s nice to read this, but I’m sure Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira was not a priest.

    • Sandy Shaw

He was a LAY PRIEST, but not a member of the holy ordering – an ecclesiastical priest he was not. Plinio was a leader in the Marian Congregations and as such he had to be a lay priest.

      • sodacrackers2

There are no lay priest. He could have been a brother.

  • santashandler

He was right on. Which explains why his writings never saw the light of day in the mainstream world.

  • If only Latin America could help the rest of the West in our struggle against Islamic jihad. Perhaps if Christendom were truly united, we would stand a chance against terrorism.

    • Shirley Rosenhohn

A good start would be that christians put aside their theological differences. The catholics should realize that the popes are not infallible and that they need to clean the catholic hierarchy of corruption, greed and hunger of power and then that the common enemy of all christians is the islamic scourge and not those who have been the scapegoats for centuries.
      Blessings and all the best,
      S.

      • sodacrackers2

The infallibility only applies when he speaks ex cathedra, from the chair of St. Peter. Personally, I think Benedict is the real Pope.

        • Louis Boo

The last real pope was Pius XII.

      • As Christians we don’t all sup at the same table. We divide over the essential doctrines of the faith but united over the non-essentials. There are those who call themselves Christians, but are apostates, or wolves in sheep’s clothing, or teach aberrations, or falsehood, or don’t believe in the inerrant word of God. In spite of this, Jesus calls us to love one another.

  • IzlamIsTyranny

I wonder what he would think of the present leadership (spit) of the Catholic Church?

  • reyol

Far sighted indeed to look beyond the threats of the ’40s that consisted of Fascism and Communism and to see Islamism taking shape. He saw that WWII consisted of two blocs of nations having at it while the Arabs enjoyed the show and smiled. He knew that we would exhaust ourselves and that the Mohammedans are never exhausted because they don’t maintain anything but ruthlessly exploit.

  • Michelle

Maybe he read Churchill and all of those over the past centuries who have pointed out the danger that is islam. If you look at the subject historically the threat is patently obvious and has always been so,

  • Alleged Comment

One should not be surprised if he ever VISITED a Moslem country even waay back then. Mark Twain did and it CHANGED his perception of the Moslem immensely.

These are very barbaric backward people representing the WORST of humanity. Or what Yahuah likes to call the WILD MAN!! SO WILD he will be unable to be TAMED by any men. Give him a weapon and he will KILL you with it. obama has been arming them to the TEETH with your money.

That is why Demoncraps and lieberals want them as your next door neighbor. For they can only RULE by FORCE and MAYHEM. Right now they RULE you with deception. But they can hardly wait to rule you by FORCE.

Hillaryous has become a priest for that very purpose. DECEPTION.

    HERE IS THE SPEECH:
“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensual-ism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.
Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”
    Sir Winston Churchill;
(Source: The River War, first edition, Vol II, pages 248-250 London).
Islam is the most dangerous thing that the world has ever faced, Stalin and Hitler were insignificant compared to the engulfing and mendacious tentacles of Islam

  • Louis Boo

This man is wonderful and I have known about him for about 12 years now. He helped to found the TFP (Tradition, Family and Property), which is very active on college campuses and around the country holding rallies to help defeat the spread of Satanism in this country. People like to make fun of them because they come with lovely red mantels, bagpipes, etc. But these folks are wonderful and do much good trying to restore some morality to this country and beyond. http://www.tfp.org/

But they’re fellow atheists…just like you.
Isn’t it strange how the only atheist states that have ever existed have all been totalitarian and mass murdering?
Yeah, I’ll put my faith in atheists…

    • In Matthew 15:18,19 Jesus said, “But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile a man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, theft, false witness, slanders”.
Faith in the true living God is not the problem, but rather those who reject Him. Seek Him while he may still be found.

  • IzlamIsTyranny

Mr. Oliveira was way ahead of the curve to be predicting this in the midst of WW2.
