Torn at the shoulder on an open thread

Back to my man tonight for our weekly Friday night diversion.

“I guess that I miss you, I guess I forgive you, I’m glad you stood in my way” Cohen confesses to his betrayer in the song.

Lenny singing Famous Blue Raincoat. *sigh*

The famous blue raincoat actually belonged to Cohen himself. In liner notes written in 1976, he recalled, “I had a good raincoat then, a Burberry I got in London in 1959. Elizabeth thought I looked like a spider in it . . . . It hung more heroically when I took out the lining, and achieved glory when the frayed sleeves were repaired with a little leather . . . . I knew how to dress in those days. It was stolen from Marianne’s loft in New York sometime during the early ’70s. I wasn’t wearing it very much toward the end.”

One more thing: Lili Marleen sung by Marlene Dietrich

Thks for your help, I have emailed Mrs Geller and she deleted an obnoxious troll and anti-semite. I am aware such people reappear under new pseudonym/s, Not sure if, for privacy purposes you wish to delete your post above..

          • livingengine

You can also let me know, if you prefer, I can get rid of the trolls, as well.

          • Duchess of Pork

Thank you, yes that was what I was wanting to know when I first contacted you as I wasn’t wanting to incur on Mrs Geller’s time. Sorry if I didn’t make myself clear. I will contact you in future if needed and delete my post tomorrow.

Hello. The troll problem seems to have vanished of late which makes reading comments on Pamela’s site much more pleasant. I don’t want to encroach on her time as I’m sure it’s more than fully occupied but would you please pass on to her my thanks for the articles in relation to Islamic activity in the Balkans that have been written recently by Alexander Shah and also the articles by Hugh Fitzgerald which have concentrated more on geo-political events in the ME. Both authors have produced very interesting (of course also somewhat alarming) pieces, redolent with history and illustrative of Islamic doctrine underpinning muslim excursions into European border territory. Mr Fitzgerald’s suggestions regarding political solutions also contain pertinent discussion material. So well done in bringing these authors into your arsenal of columnists and I’m sure that many of your readers also think likewise.

I remember a friend from long ago
Never had he heard of Leonard Cohen
    Songs From A Room
    I lent him that album
He was and still is a Cohen fan
Like a bird on a wire, some drunk in a midnight choir
Leonard Cohen is the best of both
