The Big Story: MTA’s Free Speech Ban

It’s a big story and well it should be. The West is lost. And horribly enough, it is, as predicted by jihadists and the hundreds of Muslims groups named in the largest terrorist funding trial in our nation’s history, “by its own hand.”

The Muslim Brotherhood Project in America: “The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”(more here)

“New York transit system bans all political advertising on subways, buses,” Washington Post  – ‎45 minutes ago‎

“MTA bans political ads in transit system,” Rebecca Harshbarger, NY Post, April 29, 2015

The MTA approved a new policy on Wednesday that would exclude all political ads in the transit system.
The shift comes after a federal judge said last week that the MTA can’t block ads from the American Freedom Defense Initiative on its buses that read “killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah.”

Under the new guidelines, the MTA will only accept paid commercial advertising, public service announcements, and governmental messages.

“Hateful speech is not harmless speech,” said board member and Holocaust survivor Charles Moerdler, who compared the AFDI ads to the publication of “Mein Kampf” and genocide. “Only a fool or rogue would argue otherwise.”

Other MTA officials backed running the ads.

“We are stopping free expression of ideas to protect the public from reading ideas that may offend them,” said board member Jonathan Ballan. “We shouldn’t squelch free speech in an effort to protect our customers. That violates the constitution and the principles this country was founded on.”

Political ads bring in less than $1 million a year to the MTA — which took in $138 million in ad revenue in 2014.

It said the the policy will create a safe environment for riders and workers, and use less resources resolving disputes over political ads.

Pamela Geller of the AFDI started to denounce the decision but her microphone stopped working.

“You cannot shut this down,” she said during the meeting. “You call my ads hateful. These are actual quotes from high-profile Muslims. We need to have this conversation.”

They cut my mic – it didn’t “stop working.”

There is an easy solution to this. Start selling t-shirts with the anti-jihad message on them, on hot models. MTA says they will accept commercial advertising. Hold them to it. What dhimmi cowards they are.

    • David Whitmore

      I like that idea.

  • yyarko

Well, every cloud has a silver lining – at least the Islamic supremacists won’t be able to run their adds as well.

    • David Whitmore

Nor can ANY politician! A true pure sterling silver lining with this one.

This got me wondering about my town’s Metro policy on political ads. They got banned back in 2002 and the free world did not come to an end. Yes, it’s a small town but I bet per capita people here are more politically engaged than NYC. Conflicts are hashed out in city council meetings and through the local papers. NYC has the wonderful 92nd St. Y with many public forums — that might be a good venue for a debate on free speech.

  • Jon Sobieski

Such a lopsided vote, and no statement by anyone who voted the ban says a million about the quislings. And that horrible jew who would be fine with you being strangled, he just wouldn’t do it himself, but others would be justified. And free speech is a right not a privilege. If you pursue this and I hope you do, this could be a landmark decision at the Supreme Ct.

Of course, islam will be allowed all the ads it wants — they are, after all, the supreme
religion and entitled to supra-legal protection. Islam, sultan Barry and Hillary are all for eliminating opposition viewpoints, so the new moslem US nation will be one party, one message, one fuhrer!

The GOP in congress continue to grovel in silence!

  • American

If the court said they had to run it, how can they change to go against the rule of law?
How exactly is it political? Seems like a public health ‘viewpoint’.
Every ad has a viewpoint, so banning viewpoint ads is pointless.
Oh I see, ads critical of a political viewpoint and using their own words to do it are banned???
MTA refuse to run CAIR ads now?
    Too many unanswered questions.

Attempt to rent billboards with messages such as “The Koran endorses child rape (Surah 65 Verse 4)” and “Mohammed was a proud child molester. Google ‘Aisha’.” and “Child rape is a celebrated cultural norm in Islamic societies. Is that what you want for America?”

When the ads are rejected SUE alleging religious discrimination because we MUSLIMS should be allowed to propagate our noble faith!

If even this doesn’t wake the libtards up we may as well accept defeat.
