Trumps ask to borrow a Van Gogh, Guggenheim Museum offers them used, solid-gold toilet instead

244

A toilet: a perfect metaphor for the left cultural elite. The Trumps made an elegant request: “the first couple had asked for Van Gogh’s ‘Landscape With Snow,’ featuring a man and his dog.

Instead of complying with that request, or coming up with a similar alternative that they could offer to the Trumps, the gatekeepers (?), the loftiest of the leftist highbrows, show what pigs they really are.

With this classless and boorish offer, they didn’t soil the president, they soiled themselves. What vile sh-ts are these elites. This is the guggenheim sh-tting on America. On the will of the people. On the White House. This shows what the left thinks of the common man, the decent good people of this great nation.

Story continues below advertisement
The bigger they are, they harder they’ll fall.

“Museum offered used, solid-gold toilet to Trumps,” Associated Press, January 25, 2018:

New York – Donald and Melania Trump wanted to borrow a Van Gogh painting from a New York museum for their White House private quarters. Instead, The Washington Post reports , the Guggenheim Museum’s chief curator came up with a pointedly satirical counter-offer: a working solid-gold toilet made by an Italian artist.

The first couple had asked for Van Gogh’s “Landscape With Snow,” featuring a man and his dog.

Curator Nancy Spector has been openly critical of Trump in social media.

She emailed the White House Office of the Curator in September to say that the Trumps could borrow the toilet installation used by visitors in a museum restroom until mid-September. The 18-karat toilet , titled “America,” is Maurizio Cattelan’s jab at the nation’s greedier instincts. It has an estimated value topping $1 million.

Spector included a photograph in her email, saying, “We are sorry not to be able to accommodate your original request, but remain hopeful that this special offer may be of interest.”

The toilet could be “a long-term loan,” she wrote. “It is, of course, extremely valuable and somewhat fragile, but we would provide all the instructions for its installation and care.”

The Post said the White House has stayed silent on the subject.

In a museum blog last year, the curator referred to Trump as “he of the eponymous gilded tower” – including Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue where he has a huge apartment and office. The president favors the color gold, plating bathroom fixtures in his various homes with the precious metal and redecorating the Oval Office with gold-hued drapes.

The curator said his presidency has been “marked by scandal and defined by the deliberate rollback of countless civil liberties, in addition to climate-change denial that puts our planet in peril.”…

I very much like grilled eel. Also, boiled with udon. Around forty years ago, countryside villages, you would have street vendors that served/sold it that way. Especially, in winter …. Brings back memories …

Such luxury was not available in the decadent west, but I like the thought of a time when there was a degree of independence and variety that was constantly changing. Now, prepackaged, microwavable, is the best we can do in the dismals.

My first exposure to eel, was countryside, outside of Tochigi ken. I’d had all type of snake before .. from bull snake to rattle snake, but never eel. My first taste was ell and udon, in broth … from a small street vendor, in a rather small village … I didn’t have it grilled for another week. I’ve been sold on it ever since. Just an aside, rattlesnake on a stick, over an open fire … that’s good groceries.

Mahou Shoujo

That is idyllic. No rattlesnakes around there, lots 800 miles south. We have to make do with muskrat on a stick, with mustard. You should have seen the look on a couple of American consultants when things like that happened. Apparently there are a lot of local culinary delicacies that are not know outside their locale.

I’ve trapped and shot more than a few muskrats, but never dined on one. I’ve had opossum and raccoon (neither would I recommend) but, I have never had muskrat. Someone told me once, that chicken tastes a great deal like rattlesnake.

If necessary, people will eat what is available. Reading the history of the dismals, coyote was considered quite acceptable. Though I am a bit fussy about what I eat, local Fish and Game association wild game suppers are a good place to try out some of these things. Though to be honest, typical domesticated beasts are adequate for me.

Those and buffalo are the standbys. Now that hunting is considered politically incorrect and dreadfully uncool, a lot of former game is making a comeback, to the point that it is a road hazard. Moose, deer and the occasional bear are frequent pedestrians on neighbourhood streets.

Deer are just vermin. In one of the suburbs, in which I own a few houses, they’re walking eight abreast down the street … 10 am or 2 pm … Bastids destroy everything. No moose. I still, if I live long enough, would like to drop ‘n dress one of those. Hopefully, not down a bloody ravine. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. The number of hunters, in Nohio .. has drastically dropped. Hunting license sales were 30,000 fewer than just one year ago.

Probably the occasional one gets poached, but considering the size of the “herd” not very many. They are remarkably stupid, one day, on a 20 or so mile drive, I counted 8 dead ones in the ditch, they have no concept of looking both ways before crossing the road. One even ran into me while I was stopped to let it cross. Very frequent occurrence. Moose are much worse as they tend to fall on the roof of the vehicle and crush it.

A white tail will total a car. I have done this … If it is a fresh hit, you call (at least you’re supposed to) the DNR. They’ll let you take them. I have dressed out fresh “road kill” and donated it to churches, that have food pantries, and homeless shelters, as there ain’t enough room in my freezers. Eight moose, that’s a lot of meat just going to waste. I suppose, with a moose you might need a bit of assistance.

Mahou Shoujo
Mahou Shoujo

Some people actually do process “road kill” getting quite a bit of useable meat off of it, but that is the exception, not the rule around here. As there are very few roads, most incidents occur at high speed, which does tend to pulverize everything.

Achmed Mohammedan
Achmed Mohammedan

Reply to  Mahou Shoujo

That’s too bad …. again, I’ve never harvested a moose, much less eaten any. Even struck at a relatively high speed, most of the meat would be salvageable. I’ve seen cattle hit by a truck, that butchered up quite nicely. Don’t they issue tags or they a semi-protected species?

Hunters have a vested interest in taking care of the environment, keeping it healthy, with stable populations. As opposed to environmentalists who prefer nature to use starvation and disease to control wild life populations.

One thing people in California don’t seem to understand, is that the reason such animals avoid humans is that people shoot at them. So now it is illegal for people to shoot at mountain lions. And the mountain lions are coming back into the cities. Eating small pets, killing female joggers out in the woods, perching on homeowners rooftops so small children have to stay indoors, etc.

I noticed such things a long time ago, since I like to watch the animals on my long walks. But most people never seemed to notice, for some reason.

Mahou Shoujo
Mahou Shoujo

Today many people, especially those dwelling in cities have allowed their ability to be part of the natural world to be suppressed, in favour of instant gratification from artificial sources. This leads to total insensitivity to the world around them as they more introspectively focus on the irrelevant. Here in the middle of the dismal swamp, visitors unfamiliar with the natural world are amazed, as well as more than occasionally frightened when confronted with reality and themselves.

Speaking of firing on all cylinders, back when the world was young and I a very much new comer to the decadent west, occasionally I got to witness “macho” men display how tough they are. A four cylinder tractor would be started, then, the candidate for machoness, would extend his fingers, put his thumbs on the engine block, touch the spark plugs simultaneously. If the tractor stalled, the candidate was considered homesteader material.

We had an old F-20 and a John Deere, two cylinder, which over the years were replaced. Although, I know one man that still curses the day of having to put in all his crop with the F-20. I was able to get together, with him, September last. He retired, sold his law practice about two years ago. We commiserated how the only thing we knew about farming was that it was work, hard back breaking work .. and that we wanted off of the farm. Had we known that the standard rotation crops, of the Iowa farmer, would become, corn, beans, and Florida … we’d be a heck of a lot better off. Hindsight is always 20/20. But, I know a “gentleman farmer” that has a fully restored Johnny Popper … and that’s what he uses.

Mahou Shoujo

Would not be possible with a 2 cylinder John Deer, unless someone had long arms, or two people doing it. There are a lot of things I never heard of, nor did a lot of people, when taking up residence in the dismal swamp. John Deer tractors used magnetos, I think, which would have made the demonstration somewhat more interesting.

Actually, that’s another of the “healthy rules”, that was disproved a little more than a decade ago. The transfat in margarine has, all of a sudden, made it less healthy than butter. I’m waiting for some new theory that will tell me that tobacco smoke is good for my health.

Have you noticed how some new study comes along occasionally telling us that coffee and/or alcohol is good or bad? They ping pong back and forth.

The VA doctor asked if I drank alcohol and I told her beer only. When she asked how much (stupid question) I said it depended on how long the ball game lasts. She got pissed.

I have never availed myself of the VA but, in this area, their facilities are incredible. I know several that utilize them, solely, for their medical needs and love the VA. In the past decade, I have seen a physician one time … and the question of tobacco was raised. Nice young physician, I told him that I still smoked, occasionally, and that I had really cut back, as I aged … I’d dropped from around four packs a day to only two. His mouth hit the floor.

My father suffered his first heart attack, in his latter thirties. When the big brouhaha of cigarettes, etc., became every other ad on television, he and my mother quit smoking. He never drank alcohol to excess (social occasions two drink max), exercised and watched his diet. He died at fifty-eight. So, being one that believes in cause and effect, I increased my cigarette consumption to four packs a day and a fifth of single malt Scotch whiskey, daily.
Following strict regimen(s) like that, is responsible for my being a healthy old fart.

reyol

It’s the Left that declares things like this to be art. Right wingers want to see skillfully executed works of beauty. Left wingers want to see crudely made objects that are ugly. This toilet is not art. It’s a working toilet and it’s gold. So what! Where’s the artistry? The intent is, literally, to crap all over the Western tradition of beautiful art that elevates.

The Trumps requested ‘Landscape With Snow’ and were offered ‘America’ instead. This is analogous with how our institutions work. The common people want their institutions to work in the national interest but get, instead, Leftist insults and policies that work only in the interests of the Global elite.

The golden toilet is not just symbolic in that it is actually used in the Guggenheim lavatory. It is an exercise in sympathetic magick to enable the Left and naive visitors to crap on America. Perhaps Trump should accept the toilet and then have it ritually destroyed.

You hit on something most don’t get. Lefts art is paintings and sculptures. Most of us see art in design and engineering that has symmetry and the more complex, the more desirable, with out becoming overly sophisticated. I see art in graphics on vehicles that is better than anything the left can call art. A Beech Starship is one of the most beautiful aircraft you can see, a flying artwork, and then there is the Constellation designed by Howard Hughes. It was built when you walked up and went up an open stairs, that you seen the graceful lines.

The Founding Fathers – for the first time in known history – said government should
be of, by and for the people. That it must answer to what the people decide and
want – and not rule over or tyrannize people. But there will always be those in
high positions who disagree with the Founding Fathers. They’re not only
treacherous but – as the Founding Fathers realized – so many of them are idiots.

Highbrow elite Nancy Spector is a perfect example of why We The People got
fed up and put Donald Trump in office. There she is as Curator of one of the
greatest collections of art in the world at The Guggenheim, hobnobbing with
the glitterati and yet sending the President of the United States an insulting
toilet bowl because of her opposing and blatantly stupid views. Her petty
vindictiveness is stunning. Imagine the likes of her in a governmental position
of power – trying to rule over the rest of us. She reminds me of that evil
idiot from just the other day – the editor of Newsweek Pakistan, Ahmed
Fasih – who said sexual abuse of children was okay because “it sometimes
results in great art” – which, of course, the other idiot Spector would
deeply appreciate.

The administration should send her a note that says ‘Dear Miss Blah Blah Blah….
We are in receipt of the toilet bowl and are returning it herewith, as it was in
extremely poor taste. Sincerely yours, Chief of Protocal, The White House ‘
They should not sink to the level of swampy sewage she is obviously obsessed
with.

All of these cruds in the Media (like Fasih) – the Arts (like Spector) – the celebrities –
academia – sports figures – racial and illegal immigrant groups – Antifa anarchists –
the DEMS and RINOS etc. who constantly insult our President make me sick!

Is it customary for museums, particularly the Guggenheim, to loan out original pieces of art from the most famous artists who ever lived? The foundation annually lends hundreds of works of art from its collections to other museums and institutions around the world.- Wikipedia
I imagine it also lends art out to individuals who meet a certain standard of station, fame, power and wealth.
Was it an insult to offer the First Lady a gold commode seat instead of the artwork requested? Of course it was. Perhaps there’s history there, who knows. The Guggenheim certainly isn’t concerned how the President or the rest of the world views it’s brash snobbery aimed at the most powerful couple on the planet. I somehow think it won’t bode too well for the museum in the long run. Ordinarily what goes around, comes around.

Trump could take the toilet and hook it up
– when it flushes, could empty into DNC headquarters

After everything that the Trumps have done for New York City perhaps Nancy Spector would be kind enough to take a “selfie” with her head completely submerged in the gold toilet and send it to President Trump. Extra points if she defecated in it first and didn’t flush proving she is fine with wallowing in her own fecal matter. .

Since Donald Trump supports the arts in NYC, I wonder how much money he donated to the Guggenheim? Or does Ms. Spector have no idea..?
What a miserable person she is.

The curator of that museum is stuck in the first ice age. He needs to come to the current century.

Sounds like the lefty curator is used to dealing with Socialist/Communist leaders. Gold is a commodity. How can I take this any other way other than an outright bribe offer to a government official. They should lose all licenses and tax breaks. I wonder what the estimated value is on a Van Gogh these days? Doesn’t really matter, they stole it from the worker in that dirty Capitalist society.
