Las Vegas Attacker Tried to Blow Up Massive Aviation Fuel Tanks

61

This is terrorism. No question.

Imagine if those fuel tanks blew. Paddock would have blown up the city. The Las Vegas sheriff said that Paddock could not have done this alone.

Meticulous Planning…

Las Vegas Strip mass murderer Stephen Paddock used his Mandalay Bay hotel room to spray massive aviation fuel tanks with bullets Sunday night, a knowledgeable source told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The bullets left holes, but did not penetrate the two circular white tanks, sparing the nearby Route 91 Harvest country music festival from a potentially massive explosion, the source said Wednesday.

Within the past couple of days, construction crews repaired and painted the holes, and FBI agents inspected the tanks and took measurements of the line of fire from Mandalay Bay, the source said. (Review Journal)

Paddock, a 64-year-old Mesquite resident, had broken two windows in his 32nd-floor suite — one in line with the concert site and the other with a direct view of the fuel tanks, the source said. The bases of private aircraft operators are close to the tanks.

The bullets left holes, but did not penetrate the two circular white tanks, sparing the nearby Route 91 Harvest country music festival from a potentially massive explosion, the source said Wednesday.

The tanks are roughly 1,100 feet from the concert site, where Paddock killed 58 people and wounded almost 500.

FBI spokeswoman Sandra Breault declined to comment. “We can’t comment on an ongoing investigation,” she said late Wednesday.

Paddock’s shooting rampage was the deadliest in modern U.S. history. He killed himself as Las Vegas police closed in on his room.

Paddock was a retired accountant who had no criminal background and a passion for video poker. He lived in Mesquite with his girlfriend, Marilou Danley, and regularly came to the Las Vegas Strip to gamble.

The killer is a Anti-Trump democrat and Antifa activist also claimed by ISIS . There was another shooter in the 10th floor as shown in one of the videos in this article http://bit.ly/2xb9Js2

Antifa are only violent when they can get away with it: social justice warriors are eunuchs. This was a jihad in action and it was organized by the ?guy who started the firing and who escaped ( first shooter used interrupted bursts = experienced marksman vs full auto = inexperienced one …the one who did the rest of the shooting) do listen to the taxi recording.

Michelle, that was yesterday’s Antifa….this Antifa has aligned with Jihadis and Cartels….and learning from their play books….

And someone needs to be looking at his neighbor in Mesquite who said Paddock was a Trump supporter…..no Trump supporter would do this unless they were attacking a convention of Dimms and they were deranged by all the fake news and violence coming out of their followers….

Lately the gun violence has been deranged Dimms and Muslims like in Chattanooga, San Bernardino, Florida, and the Texas Army fort…like the shooter of Scalise…

I heard on Rush yesterday that they are claiming he was on diazepam for anxiety….there was a prescription in June in Reno, but written by a doctor in Vegas….they will try to claim it was the drugs…..

I submit that he was on these pills for anxiety BECAUSE HE WAS PLANNING THIS CARNAGE…..the pills did not cause the carnage…

I saw the video of the flashes on a window on the tenth floor but there is a problem with that. How did the bullets get through an intact window? The flashes could have been a reflection from muzzle flashes from another location but not from that window.

Exactly, the dynamics of sound travel, reflection, etc in that environment could produce any number of variations. I’m a 30 year retired army officer, I’ve been in combat as well as too many firing ranges to count. It’s more common than not that the dynamics of sound reflection create illusions or misperceptions of direction, range & magnitude. It is a frequent & known phenomenon.

This is what I’m beginning to think. The cameras all over the place were to give the real perps time to get out before the police arrived. When the police arrived, they only saw Paddock who was already dead.

Think of the 9/11 hijackings. The Airline pilots were killed first, the hijackers used box cutters to cut their throats making it harder for passengers to kill the hijackers…. if they were killed, who would fly the plane? In this case, Paddock was likely used by his “girlfriend” to get a platform for the real perps to start their mass shooting attack. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out his lady had ties to Abu Sayyaf, the muslim group in Philippines.

The article says there were “holes” in the tanks, but no bullets penetrated the tanks. If it wasn’t penetrated, then there weren’t any holes. There would have been dents, not holes. Apparently there are no longer any journalism schools producing literate “journalists”.

Yes tanks like these are single walled. I have worked on several in my lifetime, all in fuel terminals. It’s the standard way they are constructed. It takes a lot to ignite such a massive volume of fuel. More than the average person would think.. This is not to say it’s not very un nerving to weld on large pipes attached to such tanks while the tanks are still full of fuel.. We would put large rubber blow up balls up the pipes several feet then fill the space between there and where we were welding with dry ice to off gas CO2 while we worked. Still very nerve racking jobs to do knowing you’re one big Uh oh away from making headlines

Thanks for an intelligent, informed comment. If a “reporter” is worth 2 cents they would present relevant facts. But what we get now are people who simply blast baseless rumors without investigating or presenting relevant information. If the reporter is going to choose to put this reference in their story, we should get adequate facts so that we don’t have these questions.

I have no reason to believe they are other than that. I’m not knowledgeable on this subject, but nowhere have I heard anyone say they were not. Seems like a relevant point, but again, there are no real journalists anymore, so my initial impression is they have no idea what they are talking about.

This article is very sketchy on the technical aspects of the fuel and long range ballistics. If the fuel was what is called “av gas” for reciprocating (piston) engines, then it is of a much higher octane than that which you put in your car. Jet fuel is nothing but low grade kerosene.

The weapons used were .223 caliber or 5.56mm, a small projectile which is going to lose much velocity and accuracy at that distance. As an example, I regularly shoot an M-1 Garand WWII infantry rifle at a steel target 525 yards away. It is 30-06 and a real challenge to hit and does not penetrate.

Midniterider

He had .308 rifle/s there Drew. The tanks were according to FOX 1100 ft from him,100ft less than 400 yds.I’ve put .308 HPBT Match rds thru mild steel plates at 300 no problemo.
.223 on the other hand is a waste of ammo attempting to hole tanks that far away from the muzzle.
I think if the fuel tanks were a primary target or even a secondary he would have had a .338 or maybe a Barrett .50. He could afford one and by the level of technical expertise I’ve seen on his weaponry, would have known that .50 was the sure bet to punch holes.
The tanks may have been a target of opportunity, but one has to wonder with the planning involved WHY the tanks weren’t targeted along with the concertgoers as there HAD to be a lot of recon involved in the planning and he HAD to see the tanks beforehand.Blowing one or more would probably have caused enough chaos to allow him to possibly escape the hotel room deathtrap he put himself in.

I forgot about the .308 AR-10s, but even at that, the tanks weren’t much of a target. Notice the pipes are marked “JP-8” which is jet fuel. The number indicates it’s composition. In Vietnam, we used JP-4 and JP-5, with JP-5 having an anti-icing ingredient for cold weather ops while JP-4 was for warmer areas. Jet fuel is not highly combustible.

Agreed and as I posted above. We had a refrigerated conex behind the chow hall at Da Nang that contained steaks for our next day’s dinner but was hit by an incoming rocket during the night, scattering meat everywhere. We had to pile it up and burn it with jet fuel and had hell getting it to light.

Mahou Shoujo

There is a very good reason jet engines have very carefully designed ignition systems, lots of heat in Jet fuel, once it starts burning. At one point long ago, I was assigned to an engineering group in a facility that made Jet A and B, as it was called then.

We’re never going to be told the whole truth about this shooting…..Just like JFK….
When they finished that investigation they locked it up….saying it would hurt innocent people if all the facts were known…..they said it would be opened in 50 years.
When the 50 years was up Caroline Kennedy stopped it from being opened and disclosed to the public. I was furious. We have a right to know who killed our President…..who was involved. Caroline has no right to stop that….but she did.

Well there were no less than 3 future presidents involved in the JFK murder. Johnson, Nixon, George Bush Sr.. All present on the day and all hated JFK because he was going to dismantle the CIA and break it into a thousand pieces in his own words.. That got him executed… There’s plenty of facts out there about all this if you spend the time to look. The murder of officer Tibbet just after JFK was never anything I gave much thought to past him just being unlucky and in the wrong spot at the wrong time, but when you look really deep you’ll find his nickname around the police station was ( Little JFK ) why? Because he could pass as his body double… Which ultimately the poor guy did..

This all is going to or should change the entire infrastructure considerations regarding what has to be done to protect the people. Of course I know its not the top priority for our government officials because keeping their jobs ranks first for them. As bad as the fuel situation could have been imagine if there’s a scenario where nuclear power is involved and the system breached for example by armor piercing weapons. The security has to be also much better for police and guards. This goes back especially to the hiring of muslims who profess allegiance to allah over our country.

he had “pounds” of tannerite in his home and car (at casino): tannerite is simply ammonium nitrate (fertilizer/explosive as the primary explosive) mixed with a sensitizer, aluminum powder and is detonated by impact of varying intensities depending on the mixture-most require high velocity which means rifle round or detonating cap, whether metal or gas needs to be doing 3000fps….other mixtures are more sensitive and can be detonated with subsonic (slow bullets like any pistol, cheap .22lr, etc…or any other impact such as detonating primer cap, primary explosive that sets off this secondary explosive). So anyway, i immediately thought it obvious he intended to place it in the crowd and shoot it, or hope to hit it amongst the crowd, and this story on him shooting fuel tanks lends to that assumption…he didn’t have the technical expertise to remote or time detonate it in that crowd…they said he was scoping out other events even checking into hotel overlooking one…one was a hip hop concert there in vegas with a rapper and the other was lollapalooza in chicago…..just my .02

Gunman’s brother: ‘If a lot of these hotels say they don’t know Steve, they’re lying’

Eric Paddock, left, brother of Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock, speaks to members of the media outside his home Monday in Orlando, Fla. (John Raoux / Associated Press)
The interview started with Eric Paddock crying.

And then — in a rambling, televised interview that stretched for half a hour in Florida on Wednesday — Paddock held court on his brother Stephen, the gunman who attacked a Las Vegas country music festival.

He was now one of America’s foremost experts on one of its worst mass killers, and he was trying to explain reports that Stephen Paddock had gambled heavily in Las Vegas in recent months, sometimes with at least $100,000.

“We’re wealthy people,” Eric Paddock said. “$100,000 isn’t that much money…. He gambled that much through a machine in hours…. He’s got the highest level of membership card at a lot of these [casino] hotels. If a lot of these hotels say they don’t know Steve, they’re lying.”

But his brother also “didn’t love the casino,” Paddock said. “The casino was a means to an end. The casino to him was like a job in Toyota in Japan, where you live in the Toyota apartments across the street, and then you go to the Toyota factory to work. That’s what the casino was. It’s a place where you lived and they were nice to you, and you could get it paid for by playing slots.”

Paddock remembered his brother as a man who used his money to take care of his family financially. “He helped make me and my family wealthy. I mean, he’s the reason I was able to retire three years ago when I got really burned out doing the job I did,” Eric Paddock said.

“He didn’t have a lot of friends,” Paddock continued. “He was a private person. There’s a story about that he’s, ‘ohhhh, he kept his shades closed, and he didn’t talk to me for the first three times he saw me walking in the neighborhood.’ Wow. That makes him really weird, doesn’t it? He was a private guy. That’s why you can’t find out anything about him, that’s why there’s no pictures. Is he such a weirdo because he didn’t have a Facebook page and posted 50,000 damn pictures of himself every day? Who’s weird?”

He said that his heart went out to the victims and that he began crying when his son had called him that day, also crying. “I woke up this morning, crying,” Paddock said.

But, of his brother’s attack, Paddock said: “This is 100% Steve, did this by himself. People can’t seem to cope with that either. But Steve is a — was a — highly intelligent, highly successful person. He could have done anything he wanted to do. And he did. He made himself wealthy. He made us wealthy. He was a very successful person. He gambled for 20-plus years, successfully. It’s like a job to him. He did it mathematically.”

Stephen Paddock loved his girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who flew to the Philippines before the attack, Eric Paddock said. He also wired Danley money. “That’s the Steve I know,” Eric Paddock said. “That’s something that makes sense. Steve would have wanted to take care of Marilou.”

The couple seem to have met at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, where Danely was a hostess and Stephen Paddock was a “big fish,” Eric Paddock said.

“They were adorable,” he said. “Steve’s this big, she’s this tiny thing. He loved her. He doted on her.”

He added of his brother: “It was fun to hang out with Steve, because he was a rich guy who hung out in the hotels. OK? … Him getting on a plane and flying somewhere is like you going to Publix. It’s something he does every week.”

The attack was so baffling that “I hope to hell they find, when they do the autopsy, that there’s a tumor in his head, or something, because if they don’t, we’re all in trouble,” Eric Paddock said, adding, “I’m praying for at least some data points. Because otherwise, the bug in ‘Men In Black’ put on a Steve suit and went and did this. There’s no other rationalization.”

“Is he such a weirdo because he didn’t have a Facebook page and posted 50,000 damn pictures of himself every day? Who’s weird?”

his g/f had one with posted pics, is she weird? ..she didn’t kill 59 people…

“I’m praying for at least some data points. Because otherwise, the bug in ‘Men In Black’ put on a Steve suit and went and did this. There’s no other rationalization.”

it’s called evil…it is not quantified in a data point and has no boundaries, science does not apply

He did it mathematically.”

not on Valium he didn’t…some douchebag on the radio called him a ‘genius’…$2000 of rifles and ammo is genius? The equivalent of “liquid courage” alcohol plus marijuana, valium increased aggression/delusion/paranoia/etc. in blind trials of placebo versus actual. it’s called big balls and a sick mind.
