Pope Francis and H. R. McMaster and John Kerry and so many other learned imams have assured us over the years that Islamic terrorism has nothing whatsoever to do with Islam, and now there is proof, or what purports to be proof, in the form of a study from no less august an authority than the United Nations.
The United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism has released a new study claiming that Islamic State jihadis “have low levels of education and ‘lack any basic understanding of the true meaning of jihad or even the Islamic faith.’”
The study found that most of these jihadis “saw their religion in terms of justice and injustice rather than in terms of piety and spirituality,” and that the typical jihad warrior “is most likely to be male, young and disadvantaged economically, educationally, and in terms of the labour market. He is also more likely than not to come from a marginalised background, both socially and politically. Most were unemployed, or underemployed, and/or said that their life lacked meaning.”

This study directly contradicts the results of another new study that was conducted in Germany, which found that “the widespread view that radical Muslims know little about Islam is wrong.”
Which study are we to believe? Well, this one reinforces the common view that a typical jihadi “is most likely to be male, young and disadvantaged economically, educationally, and in terms of the labour market.”
Yet study after study (of a more honest variety) has shown that poverty and lack of opportunity don’t really cause terrorism at all. The Economist reported in 2010: “Social scientists have collected a large amount of data on the socioeconomic background of terrorists. According to a 2008 survey of such studies by Alan Krueger of Princeton University, they have found little evidence that the typical terrorist is unusually poor or badly schooled.”
In the same vein, CNS News noted in September 2013: “According to a Rand Corporation report on counterterrorism, prepared for the Office of the Secretary of Defense in 2009, ‘Terrorists are not particularly impoverished, uneducated, or afflicted by mental disease. Demographically, their most important characteristic is normalcy (within their environment). Terrorist leaders actually tend to come from relatively privileged backgrounds.’ One of the authors of the RAND report, Darcy Noricks, also found that according to a number of academic studies, “Terrorists turn out to be more rather than less educated than the general population.”
The Times Online reported the following as far back as April 2005: “Three-quarters of the Al-Qaeda members were from upper middle-class homes and many were married with children; 60% were college educated, often in Europe or the United States.”
There are innumerable examples of affluent Muslims becoming jihad terrorists. One was Maher “Mike” Hawash of Portland, Oregon, a well-regarded Intel executive who made $360,000 a year at the crest of a highly successful career. Around the year 2000, Hawash began to become more religious, growing his beard long, rejecting the nickname “Mike,” and attending the supremacist Islamic Center of Portland. Ultimately he served a seven-year prison term for conspiring to aid the Taliban.
What’s more, there is plenty of evidence that Islamic State jihadis know the Qur’an well. One Malaysian Muslim said that the Qur’an led him to join the Islamic State. A Muslima in the U.S. promoted the Islamic State by quoting the Qur’an. An Islamic State propagandist’s parents said of him: “Our son is a devout Muslim. He had learnt the Quran by heart.” A Muslim politician from Jordan said that the Islamic State’s “doctrine stems from the Qur’an and Sunnah.” There are innumerable other examples of this.
So this UN study appears to be simply an advertisement for the failed policies that the West is already implementing regarding the jihad threat. They have to keep pumping out propaganda such as this, because their policies are such obvious failures, they can only be shored up by lies.

The bigoted and corrupt UN does not have any credibility whether it is regarding Islam or any other issue plaguing this planet. Its biases and prejudices are blatant, so incredibly, I, for one, deem it unworthy of its cause. Corruption, anti-Israel, anti-Democracy and needless to mention, anti-American. This so-called study is another perfidious ploy to placate those of the Islamist cult and others whom deem it a religion of peace. Not unlike its former configuration the League of Nations, it is wanton gaggle, a sponsor and front for Third-World Terrorism. They in tandem with Islamism are hell-bent on propagating outlandish fabrications to promote this Cult of Bestiality as a legitimate religion. The end objective, for the UN and Islam, is the eventual downfall of Western Civilization.

Eloquently stated Ziggy.
My daughter worked at the UN in Botswana one summer. She said that they do absolutely nothing but hold meetings every day to discuss trivia – and those were the days that they were even there. The experience took away her college liberalism. She could not believe how much money was being wasted.

Thanks, CreoleGumbo, I feel for you daughter, it is a shame that her experience and her youthful optimism was dashed. We all have a moment in our life when, call it idealism, hope, suddenly hits the proverbial brick wall. It does not surprise me about your daughter’s UN experience but I am a jaded old man. Life is a hard learning curve, especially for our youth. Your daughter, however, has much of which to be proud and blessed. Her experience is one not too many people of any age get to do. I am sure, too, your daughter remains steadfast in her want to help people. That is what counts in the end. Take care.

Yes you hit the nail on the head. She spent 2 summers in Africa, one in Botswana and one in South Africa where she worked at a legal clinic and visited villages giving talks to African women about spousal abuse and AIDS. She was made an honorary Zulu.

You must be proud, CreoleGumbo, of your daughter. Her empathy and fortitude must be boundless. Your daughter’s sense of humanity to benefit those less blessed is beyond commendable. She has done more n her young years than some people do in a lifetime. An Honorary Zulu, this is amazing, and for me beats the lotto, seriously. Although, there are numerous folks who would disagree; however, money isn’t everything. I realize, as you mentioned, this experience took away her college liberalism; nevertheless, she learned a great deal while gaining much wisdom.
Those of a conservative bent are not less benevolent, charitable or apathetic to those in need or want, as liberals would like the people, especially young people, to assume. Take care.

The U.N. should be not be regarded with on any subject matter. It is one giant propaganda organization designed solely to further it’s agenda with the help of other like-minded organization’s throughout the world. There is absolutely nothing in the U.N. that benefits any citizen of any country, least of all the U.S.

Nothing surprising here! All of these so-called studies come to the same conclusion: the radical Islamist that resorts to terrorism bases his justification on the words within their belief system’s books. Whether piety, poverty, education are involved is simply an attempt by the intellectuals to find some common meaning in the abhorrent conduct of the Islamic radicals. It is all rubbish. It all leads to the same conclusion: the belief system of the Islamic world is the trigger for the terrorist conduct, and that is the reality that the rest of the world must accept. Sure, there are many people of the Muslim belief system that live in the free world and have adjusted and assimilated into free world societies, living peacefully alongside us non-Muslims, but the fact that their belief system is the very basis for the terrorist conduct, and the fact that those peace loving Muslims who oppose the acceptance of jihad as constituting a forceful dynamic to dominate and subjugate the world of non-Muslims, have done nothing and have not overtly rejected those triggering mechanisms, makes inviting them into free world societies most unacceptable. Their Mosques must be monitored and those who speak in favor of violence all need to be prosecuted. Until there is a reformation and rejection of the violent “Jihad,” I, for one, would prefer a very limited intake of these people of the Islamic belief system.

The United Nations statement describes the whole base of the Democratic Party, young ,stupid, and uniformed, therefore, as the Democrats have done, easily Manipulated. Seems easy to understand, why they desire to import more and more of the ignorant, the Poor, who do not share our Heritage or Culture. Diluting our Nation’s Population with people from Foreign places, unaware, and lacking in education. Burdening the working people with expense, over extended schools,crowded emergency rooms, and all sorts of problems. Then, these Foreigners have the audacity to whine because they want us to change????

OBVIOUSLY, History is the best place to go, to grasp Religious fanaticism, and from when it develops.
Mohammed’s family were well to do, and MANY terrorists of the 60’s & onward, were the scions of wealthy families. BOTH OBL & Zarwahiri [sp?] were from upper class families…
As for ISIS, I’ve extensively studied the photos of the various warriors, and invariably they appear clean cut, average young men, (between 18 & 30+-). AND! MOST Jihadis came from prominent Countries, with high standards of living, LOTS of Mosques, and MANY Mullahs & Imams who were HIGH QUALIFIED TEACHERS! (radical…but GOOD at their craft).
Take the “19 “9/11” Terrorists”…None of them were “dead heads”; they were intelligent & traveled…knowledgeable of various cultures, and WELL TRAINED in “field craft”. Not ALL, but MOST.
Then, study the History of Islam’s rise, and (tho few), major achievements. What they excelled in is quite impressive; the Arts, Architectural design, Mathematics, Tactical War fare planning & execution, and Historians…(tho they WERE tainted)…None the less, the Muslims are not a bunch of ignoramuses, generally speaking. They just were motivated by different factors, than were Westerners; such as, the Qu’ran, Hadeith, and Surras. Not WESTERN thinking & faith.
And, of course, MANY were agrarian, & keepers of flocks & herds…SOME of the best race horses in the World! And, FRANKLY, they, GENERALLY tend to be a bit more dedicated to their belief system, than Christians…EVEN to the point of taking the Prophets’ words SERIOUSLY & LITERALLY. ISIS is simply the Modern version of “Saladin the Great”s Army! Which NEARLY defeated the Crusaders! Plus, they developed one of the largest Empires in History!
So no! While Islam is, by NO MEANS, the Religion of PEACE, (that McMasters, et al DemonRATS claim it to be), it is NOT populated by dimwits…Of COURSE there ARE some, but not generally speaking!
Now! The “DOWNSIDE” IS generally dark, negative, SERIOUSLY ARROGANT, SUPREMACISTS, and ALSO SERIOUSLY DEMONICALLY INSPIRED. BUT! So were the NAZIS! But ignorant, & poor, and crazy, no! Just possessed.

The United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism is lying.
They can come up with any reason on Earth they want –
including that it is poverty that causes a radical version
of Islam – that the jihadists are not really practicing true
Islam – that Islam is a religion of peace. But those are
all lies.
The jihadists are being faithful to the instructions in Part II
of the Koran called the Medina Period of Mohammed.
That section contains all the murderous instructions
needed for subjugation of women, Christians, Jews and
non-Muslims. Part II abrogates or dominates Part I, the
more spiritual Mecca Period and is considered to be the
divine word of Allah too.
So-called peaceful Muslims throughout Europe, America
and the world might not take up arms and follow Part II
for jihad. But they definitely support it with their silence
and universal lack of protesting when jihadists bloodily
maim and murder for Islam.
The UN is totally corrupt and skewed for communism,
globalism and Islam. This is just more proof of it.

Just a few weeks ago in Raqqa, a notorious medical doctor from Australia (son of muslim refugees and educated at great public expense) was telling muslims that they weren’t true muslims unless they fought the infidel.
The bombing at Glasgow Airport involved a muslim medical doctor employed by British National Health.
Mohammad Atta interrupted his German engineering degree to fly into the Twin Towers…
Etc etc etc….
Who are they kidding.

Hey Robert, jihadis are true and obedient Muslims. They obey the commands in the Qu’ran to coerce and kill recalcitrant infidels. And if you, Robert, read the Qu’ran, you’d see for yourself those suras demanding adherents to Islam to do all these things, particularly to strike terror into the hearts of infidels who refuse to bow to their demon god Allah.
