PAYPAL Suspends Jihad Watch After ProPublica Hit Piece Against Anti-Jihad News Sites #BoycottPaypal

89

Yesterday I published an exchange I had with a Lauren Kirchner, young Hitler-youth type of journalist from ProPublica, an uber-left non-profit, threatening advertisers and payment services that were found on my site. I was not the only target, other counter jihad sites received this vicious “interview request” as well. Jihad Watch, former Muslim Ali Sina, Bare Naked Islam were also targeted.

Today, Paypal suspended Robert Spencer’s Jihad Watch account.

Anyone the left calls a Nazi is now shunned, ruined — their livelihood murdered.

Story continues below advertisement

Paypal should be boycotted. I will be moving all of my accounts off Paypal.

Here is what Robert received from Paypal.

RE: Notice of PayPal Account Limitation

Dear Robert Spencer,

We have recently reviewed your usage of PayPal’s services, as reflected in
our records and on your website https://www.jihadwatch.org. Due to the
nature of your activities, we have chosen to discontinue service to you in
accordance with PayPal’s User Agreement. As a result, we have placed a
permanent limitation on your account.

We ask that you please remove all references to PayPal from your website.
This includes removing PayPal as a payment option, as well as the PayPal
logo and/or shopping cart.

If you have a remaining balance, you may withdraw the money to your bank
account. Information on how to withdraw money from your PayPal account can
be found via our Help Center.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation. If you have any questions or
need our support, please contact the PayPal Brand Risk Management
Department at [email protected].

Sincerely,

The SPLC lumps legitimate groups in with real hate groups in order to defame its political foes, but PayPal allowed no discussion, no appeal. It acted as judge, jury, and executioner.

In reality, I oppose jihad mass murder. PayPal apparently thinks that makes me a “hatemonger.” I oppose the murder of people who decide in conscience to leave Islam. PayPal thinks that makes me a “right-wing extremist.” I oppose honor killings, female genital mutilation, scripturally-sanctioned wife-beating, etc. PayPal thinks that means I am too hateful to use their service.

So: if you support the work of Jihad Watch, close your PayPal account now. Contact them and tell them why. Tell all your friends that PayPal has bowed to Left-fascism, and to boycott it.

And please help us keep going: donate at Stripe.com to [email protected]. Your donation helps me appear at worthy events that can’t fund my appearance, and keeps our website operating.

The Left is moving in for the kill now and trying to delegitimize and silence all voices of dissent. Don’t allow this rapidly creeping totalitarianism to succeed.

Here is the vicious, defamatory ProPublica story.

Despite Disavowals, Leading Tech Companies Help Extremist Sites Monetize Hate

Most tech companies have policies against working with hate websites. Yet a ProPublica survey found that PayPal, Stripe, Newsmax and others help keep more than half of the most-visited extremist sites in business.

Because of its “extreme hostility toward Muslims,” the website Jihadwatch.org is considered an active hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League. The views of the site’s director, Robert Spencer, on Islam led the British Home Office to ban him from entering the country in 2013.

But its designation as a hate site hasn’t stopped tech companies — including PayPal, Amazon and Newsmax — from maintaining partnerships with Jihad Watch that help to sustain it financially. PayPal facilitates donations to the site. Newsmax — the online news network run by President Donald Trump’s close friend Chris Ruddy — pays Jihad Watch in return for users clicking on its headlines. Until recently, Amazon allowed Jihad Watch to participate in a program that promised a cut of any book sales that the site generated. All three companies have policies that say they don’t do business with hate groups.

Jihad Watch is one of many sites that monetize their extremist views through relationships with technology companies. ProPublica surveyed the most visited websites of groups designated as extremist by either the SPLC or the Anti-Defamation League. We found that more than half of them — 39 out of 69 — made money from ads, donations or other revenue streams facilitated by technology companies. At least 10 tech companies played a role directly or indirectly in supporting these sites.

Traditionally, tech companies have justified such relationships by contending that it’s not their role to censor the Internet or to discourage legitimate political expression. Also, their management wasn’t necessarily aware that they were doing business with hate sites because tech services tend to be automated and based on algorithms tied to demographics.

In the wake of last week’s violent protest by alt-right groups in Charlottesville, more tech companies have disavowed relationships with extremist groups. During just the last week, six of the sites on our list were shut down. Even the web services company Cloudflare, which had long defended its laissez-faire approach to political expression, finally ended its relationship with the neo-Nazi site The Daily Stormer last week.

“I can’t recall a time where the tech industry was so in step in their response to hate on their platforms,” said Oren Segal, director of the ADL’s Center on Extremism. “Stopping financial support to hate sites seems like a win-win for everyone.”

But ProPublica’s findings indicate that some tech companies with anti-hate policies may have failed to establish the monitoring processes needed to weed out hate sites. PayPal, the payment processor, has a policy against working with sites that use its service for “the promotion of hate, violence, [or] racial intolerance.” Yet it was by far the top tech provider to the hate sites with donation links on 23 sites, or about one-third of those surveyed by ProPublica. In response to ProPublica’s inquiries, PayPal spokesman Justin Higgs said in a statement that the company “strives to conscientiously assess activity and review accounts reported to us.”

After Charlottesville, PayPal stopped accepting payments or donations for several high-profile white nationalist groups that participated in the march. It posted a statement that it would remain “vigilant on hate, violence & intolerance.” It addresses each case individually, and “strives to navigate the balance between freedom of expression” and the “limiting and closing” of hate sites, it said.

After being contacted by ProPublica, Newsmax said it was unaware that the three sites that it had relationships with were considered hateful. “We will review the content of these sites and make any necessary changes after that review,” said Andy Brown, chief operating officer of Newsmax.

Amazon spokeswoman Angie Newman said the company had previously removed Jihad Watch and three other sites identified by ProPublica from its program sharing revenue for book sales, which is called Amazon Associates. When ProPublica pointed out that the sites still carried working links to the program, she said that it was their responsibility to remove the code. “They are no longer paid as an Associate regardless of what links are on their site once we remove them from the Associates Program,” she said.

Where to set the boundaries between hate speech and legitimate advocacy for perspectives on the edge of the political spectrum, and who should set them, are complex and difficult questions. Like other media outlets, we relied in part on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s public list of “Active Hate Groups 2016.” This list is controversial in some circles, with critics questioning whether the SPLC is too quick to brand organizations on the right as hate groups.

Still, the center does provide detailed explanations for many of its designations. For instance, the SPLC documents its decision to include the Family Research Council by citing the evangelical lobbying group’s promotion of discredited science and unsubstantiated attacks on gay and lesbian people. We also consulted a list from ADL, which is not public and that was provided to us for research purposes

[…]

“It is not hateful, racist or extremist to oppose jihad terror,” said Spencer, the director of Jihad Watch. He added that the true extremism was displayed by groups that seek to censor the Internet and that by asking questions about the tech platforms on his site, we were “aiding and abetting a quintessentially fascist enterprise.”

Spencer made these comments in response to questions emailed by ProPublica reporter Lauren Kirchner. Afterwards, Spencer posted an item on Jihad Watch alleging that “leftist ‘journalist’” Kirchner had threatened the site. He also posted Kirchner’s photo and email, as well as his correspondence with her. After being contacted by ProPublica, another anti-Islam activist, Pamela Geller, also posted an attack on Kirchner, calling her a “senior reporting troll.” Like Spencer, Geller was banned by the British Home Office; her eponymous site is on the SPLC and ADL lists.

Donations — and the ability to accept them online through PayPal and similar companies — are a lifeline for sites like Jihad Watch. In 2015, the nonprofit website disclosed that three quarters of its roughly $100,000 in revenues came from donations, according to publicly available tax records.

In recent weeks, PayPal has been working to shut down donations to extremist sites. This week, it pulled the plug on VDARE.com, an anti-immigration website designated as “white nationalist” by the SPLC and as a hate site by the ADL. VDARE, which denies being white nationalist, immediately switched to its backup system, Stripe.

[….]Because of its “extreme hostility toward Muslims,” the website Jihadwatch.org is considered an active hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League. The views of the site’s director, Robert Spencer, on Islam led the British Home Office to ban him from entering the country in 2013.

Boycotting , cancelling paypal will not solve the problem. If Robert wants to sue Paypal for discrimination violating free speech Rights then fund Robert Spencer to file law suit.

And email/phone tweet this article …… to your Reps to pass Law to prevent suppression of Free Speech by online payment providers. Only organisation on ban List approved by congress can be blocked .

Any arbitrary blocking amounts to suppression of free speech should be open for suing for damages and re-activation.

That is how you fightback.

To some extent you are correct but I personally do not really see why anyone really needs to use PayPal and a mass boycott will certainly help, and could put them out of business.

But a lawsuit will not prevent them from being rude and hiring people who have limited English pronunciation skills such as I encountered (See my Post above).

I don’t think it will stop them but it will still hurt them no matter how small and it is more of a sure thing and a lot cheaper than hiring attorneys and going into courts, the result of which is highly unpredictable as we all saw with ObamaCare and numerous other cases. Boycotting can be done in addition to going to court.

Boycott Facebook too! If enough people stand together for what is right, like those left wingers do, it will help stop this assault on our freedom. Sitting back and doing nothing surely will not accomplish anything.

Because they can. Has CAIR collected- suing is one thing, collecting money is quite different.

Given some atrocious Supreme Court decisions that have totally warped the intent of the framers of the Constitution and the states that passed the amendment, they may be able to make it stick. The late Raoul Berger, in his magisterial, Government by Judiciary: the Transformation of the 14th Amendment describes this process in scholarly detail.

Suresh

save the “scholarly details” . CAIR has been successfully milking millions for their muslim clients. Most of them go for out of court settlement bcoz they don’t want the negative publicity.

No, they are not smarter. If that were so I would be smarter, I predicted many years ago that, if we go down, it would be because of our own laws.

Laws can and are being used against us at this very moment.

If you can’t do it against me, I can’t do it against you, and vise versa.
It’s the Achilles heel of our basic freedoms, they, freedoms, work for all or for none. If for only the chosen, it’s totalitarianism.

We need to have the real hate groups exposed for what they really are, CAIR, ACLU, SPLC, CPA, (Communist Party of America), and many others.

But alas and alak we are 40 yrs too late, as the indoctrination is mostly complete, our own education system and esteemed news organizations are totally gone. Look around you, for the most part, all of your neighbors are clueless, just ask.

I will close my PP account.

Want to fight this? We, and I mean the Conservative sights MUST pull together and become as one voice, Right now we are spitting into the wind, These sites have to close ranks if they want to survive, want to be heard.

There must be at least on “very” wealthy person out there that would be willing, with our donations, to start a channel, we need real exposure, media, exposure, TV and Radio.

No,I mean an all inclusive real news till it hurts TV CHANNEL. We need an Anti-msm TV channel that has all of these sites 24-7-365. All they have to do is “show” the truth / facts.
We need to get all for the name brand people on. The they will reach more people in one show than they do in a year.

They could have repeats all day spread out amongst all the big name world wide anti-jihadist.
Think NewsMax having interviews with Pam. Gabriel, Geert, Tommy and so many others.
They could have the real honest conservative commentators,

I bet this channel would draw the best of the best and pay for itself.

With true honest statements out there and in their faces nobody would get away with calling or charging them as racist and haters. The people would see through the left since they would be told all of their dirty little secrets.

Each oh these sites would have their own time slots and minutes.

The ignorant would become the knowledgeable. the lost ones perhaps be found and change their minds and redirect their energies.
And so much more.

TV , radio can be brought down easily. we need to support multiple conservative news websites , blogs , video channels . it gives folks choose time to go over the real news and decide for themselves.

websites/blogs can call to action and give out links to petition , raise funds
for conservative groups that are fighting common battle whose outcome affects all.

All this cannot be done via TV/radio. That’s how San diego parents became aware and fought back and won against Left/liberal pro-jihadis http://tinyurl.com/y8yzso88

Anyway, it’s not just PayPal. It’s the industry-wide Islamic infiltration. One only need to look at these tech companies’ hiring practices to
understand this. In their quest to not hire Americans, they import lots
and lots of Muslims, who in turn, hire even more Muslims. Once a single
Muslim is hired for any position, the next thing you know, everyone from
his mosque ends up with a job there. It’s not just tech jobs at these
tech companies, it’s everything from human resources, food service,
transportation, maintenance, janitorial, accounting, mail room, etc…

Freedom of speech is not an issue here. Paypal can ban Robert in exactly the same fashion as a bar can throw a patron out because the bartender doesn’t like the hat the patron is wearing. Freedom of speech prevails in the public arena, it is not a cudgel to use against a free enterprise. There are types of discrimination that are legal and permitted. Myself, I discriminate against people who are willfully stupid and lazy…are those folks a protected class? No matter, I’m a private citizen, I can discriminate legally. A boycott of Paypal is a better suggestion, but they are so huge that it would be extremely difficult to organize a large enough boycott to be effective.

My suggestion would be to go after the propagandists who made the Paypal ban take place. There is no doubt that they have the complete support of their editors, so call them out and shame them in the public square. Do anything you can think of to cost them THEIR livelihood. Other than that the only response is to turn to Paypal’s competition for service.

To quote “Pogo” from years ago, “We have met the enemy and he is us”. What the fvuq is going on in the United States? Are all financial institutes, business concerns, courts and law enforcement bodies completely dominated by social democrats. liberals, muslims and outright idiots? Why is it possible for liberal oppression to be unilaterally imposed on any section of American society at any time by special interest, specifically socialist and democrats, with total impunity? Look here you Republicans, are you part of America, or are you only a token representation of something that is not a democrat? It is now, immediately, time to get off your laurels of past mediocrities, and do something to make America Great again, or, roll out your prayer mats like the submissive dupes you have turned into, then raise your derrière’s to accommodate your assorted islamic masters as represented by the democrat party, the American franchise holder for islam.

I have never used Paypal and have never seen the point of it (correction: used it once when there was no other way to pay for an item on line) I use my Visa account for all online purchases and it works fine.

How difficult would it be to institute our own online money transfer service as a bulwark against commercial enterprises acting as enemies to free speech? Brietbart News is the online news service reporting the news to people like ourselves (who no longer have any faith in the mainstream news services). The reason why the Left is so strong is that they’re better organised. They’ve been working away under cover since 1950’s getting into the hearts and minds of people whom we thought were trustworthy. This has been primarily through our educational institutions. The likes of Dan Schulman & his PayPal empire are corrupted by the liberal ideologue as is Starbucks, Disney, Google, Facebook, Twitter & so on…. If we had an inkling years ago that this treachery to free speech was possible in 2017 we would’ve had time to become insulated from the political vagaries of commercial enterprise in 2017. We can fight these people in the courts, but then, win or lose, our money has gone to lawyers and we’re back to square one once again raising funds to fight on another front. We need to be financially robust and to have parallel systems in place so we never have to support the traitors to freedom ever again. We need a prospectus for each and every service which we rely upon for our daily news, social media, financial services etc. From there, with advertising revenues & money earned from financial services we can re-invest in other ventures. I am prepared to put in $200 (US)- [we don’t have parity here in Australia with US $’s so that’s $278 AUD] to get something underway. There will need to be a trust fund and a nominated trustee. Pamela, I would trust you with my house & my family-: what do you think of this idea and would you want to be an interim trustee? You would have Jewish friends who could make this all come together. We have to act decisively and swiftly to neutralise our enemies.

If splc can make the rules on hate groups then anyone can band together and make the list since the Feds we pay can’t seem get out the break room and make it theirselves. I guess we have to rely on Soros funded groups to decide who’s good and bad (sarcasm intended). It also seems that the Charlottesville gathering may have been a setup by leftists to paint all Right-sided people who believe in America as Nazis since Jason Kessler was a CNN correspondent as well as other things. This is getting out of hand and innocent people’s lives and livelihoods are at stake for the reason of starting a civil war and eliminating a two-party system in favor of liberalism only.

The seriousness of the actions being pursued the Worlds wealthy elite are not random. They are all part of the movement to destabilize democracy and create the fascist Globalist regime so dearly sought after by the left.
The tragedy is the left, like Muslims, are being totally brainwashed by the left extreme media in to actually believing what they are doing is for the future good of humanity.
My personal theory regarding the lefts constant empathy with Islam is simple. Those that really are behind this extreme form of fascism, believe that ultimately they will be able to control Muslims by coercing the Islamic hierarchy into becoming a integral part of the New World order.
Democracy and peoples rights are in real trouble paradoxically as a result of true fascism from the one group that always claim they are sacrosanct to their political ideals………………………………. The left

Here is my personal strategy for short circuiting hackers and PayPal. In order to keep from exposing your credit cards or debit cards connected to your checking account online, go to Walgreen’s or other similar outlet and get one of those Green Dot pay-ahead debit cards to use for online shopping and bill paying. If it gets compromised, they are very efficient about issuing a new card with a new number and transferring your remaining balance there. Then when PayPal starts trying to horn in on the action, simply assign their emails to the junk file and ignore them. Works for me since they never contact me any more.

So you use a prepaid debit card to pay any Paypal transactions? I’ll remember that when I switch from Paypal to something else, which is going to happen this week. Any suggestions on what to switch to?

I stopped using PayPal as a payment option last year when I called them and the representative who took the call spoke with a heavy accent that limited my ability to understand what he was saying. When I requested to speak to a representative who was a native English speaker he told me that there was nothing wrong with the way he spoke English and hung up.

I have had no problem with paying for things on line by not using Pay Pal, which prior to this event I rarely used anyway.

Greetings from Sweden. Yeah I know we are in deep trouble. I have cancelled my PayPal account today. I also took the time to write them a mail to explain why. I doubt they will ever read it. In my opinion there can be nothing racist or hateful about reporting facts. That is what Robert Spencer does. In what way is it different from a newspaper reporting on an act of terror, murder or rape? The news could make people hateful just as well. Then again, why not just kill the messengers. It will make the problem go away. Right? No, I guess NOT.

Thank you Pamela and Robert for doing what you do. I wish there were some people like you in my country. Here they destroy your career and social status if you so much as try to speak anything negative about Islam or immigration.

Take care all of you!

Paypal are scum

Several years ago in the Honduras, between Zelaya and MS 13 the country had become the murder capitol of the world.

A friend and his family abandoned everything fleeing to Mexico, and needing help for some paperwork and legal jumbo so, via PAYPAY (May they roast in Hell) I sent a thousand bucks.

But….

Since my friend was no longer in the Honduras, Paypal (May they roast on the spits of fire in Hell forever.) wouldn’t release the funds to him because he trying to access from a foreign ip address or some such.

Security and all that stuff.

No problem I figured, so I instructed Paypal (May they be basted by the most vicious of demons as they roast on the spits Hell) to return the money to my account.

AND THEY REFUSED.

So I tried to cancel payment, (Only a day or so after making the payment, and definitely less than 5 business days) but Paypal (May the bastings that they are being basted with be acid based, as demons roast them on the spits of Hell for eternity.) saying the “Money was already in his account so payment can’t be cancelled.”

So they won’t release the money to him and they won’t return it to me.

May Paypal roast…. But I’m sure everybody gets m’ drift here, and I don’t want to come off as a ranting lunatic here.

One only need to look at these tech companies’ hiring practices to understand this. In their quest to not hire Americans, they import lots and lots of Muslims, who in turn, hire even more Muslims. Once a single Muslim is hired for any position, the next thing you know, everyone from his mosque ends up with a job there. It’s not just tech jobs at these tech companies, it’s everything from human resources, food service, transportation, maintenance, janitorial, accounting, mail room, etc…

The right-wing sites need to learn from when gay couples sued to force Christian bakeries to make a gay wedding cake.

Find a court in a district likely to understand what freedom of speech is, or one that believes that certain internet companies like Google, Facebook, PayPal are pretty much monopolies. Sue ’em for infringing on 1st Amendment right, or attempt to break them up under anti-trust laws.

The underlying problem in America is that God has been replaced by Cultural Marxism, that promotes descrimination and even harm to any one or group that does not agree with their destructive ideology. Their weapon of choice at the moment is to accuse people of ‘islamophobia’, nazism, fascism, racism or any ugly ‘ism’ they can think up, and that really applies to them.
Instead of ignoring their accusations, everyone goes into spasms of fear and thus give validation to their modis operandi. It is quite amazing how quickly America is self-destructing.
If you are not a Marxist, stand up to be counted in a mature manner. Don’t support any organization that seeks to undermine you or your country.
Why do conservatives keep supporting social media sites that undermine them!
My husband and I have just cancelled Our PayPal account .

Just went to Paypal.com and had my say with the feedback option down on bottom of page. Sick of every billionaire company who tries to control who gets to use or say what they want. Amazon, Google, Paypal, Facebook, Twitter are all dangers. These companies buying newsmedia is my true concern. Going to Paypal FB & Twitter now too.
