South Sudan Famine Relief Mission

This dying baby is the tragic face of South Sudan. The world’s newest country is in a profound crisis. Hunger has become starvation. Civil war has become genocide. While the daily horror of South Sudan remains but a minor news story in the American media, to the millions of suffering people there, it is—tragically, bitterly, crushingly—the only story.
The UN is struggling to raise the $1.4 billion necessary to provide critical food aid for South Sudan (they have only raised 14% of their goal), even as famine spreads and refugees flee across borders in record numbers. Food rations have just been cut to refugees in camps in Uganda. In March alone, more refugees seeking sanctuary fled north to Sudan—an unthinkable act during the decades of war between the South and the North—than were expected to do so during this entire year.

(Photo by AFP, taken May 11, 2017, showing women and children lined up to register at a camp for internally displaced people in South Sudan.)

Story continues below advertisement

In short, the situation is beyond imagining. It is a problem far too big for the traditional humanitarian aid community to solve. The combination of a dangerous security situation, little modern infrastructure, and a looming 6-month rainy season, means that additional aid is desperately needed.

We seek to raise $87,000 to fund a nimble humanitarian aid mission to South Sudan and the border areas with Sudan to which thousands of people are fleeing daily. We plan to purchase food and seeds locally, in Sudan, and to deliver them to refugees in some of the smaller camps (formal and informal) which are not being provided with adequate food (or any food) by the UN or other agencies.

The situation remains incredibly fluid—thousands of refugees may arrive at a camp one day, then leave two days later due to violence or lack of food or water—so we may also decide to spend some funds on tents, blankets, or other critical supplies. Any funds raised beyond our goal will be spent for the same purpose, either on this mission or a subsequent trip. We hope to raise enough funds to leave for the region in June.

This effort is led by Simon Deng, a Bronx-based activist and former child slave from South Sudan. An American citizen, Simon has been advocating for the people of his native land for decades. He will coordinate and lead the mission, using his vast web of connections and knowledge of Sudan and South Sudan to keep the team safe and see that all funds are wisely spent.

(Simon Deng, activist, organizer, former hunger striker, and former Sudanese national swimming champion.)

Please contribute to this effort today and spread the word by sharing it as widely as possible. Your donations will be managed by Pahsodo Community Mutual Assistance Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered with the IRS as a public charity. This page is managed on Simon Deng’s behalf by his friend & colleague Nathan Kleinman.

In South Sudan today, people are dying because of who they are and where they were born. This is a genocide. You may be unfamiliar with the groups of people involved (Dinka, Nuer, Shilluk, Nubian, etc), but they are all people. They all deserve to live in dignity and peace.

Help us help them live to see another day.

Thank you.

[NOTE: Unless otherwise mentioned, photos were taken during the past year in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state, some in camps that have now been abandoned as famine spreads and people attempt to get further from the violence.]

Unless the base cause is solved this is going to repeat and repeat at ever decreasing intervals. The Population of South Sudan has increased from just under 3 million in 1960 to over 12.3 Million in 2015. This land can’t take those numbers under civil war. Africa as a whole has a population of 1.2 Billion and is expected to hit 2.4 Billion (i.e. DOUBLE !) by 2050. Increase is currently at 80 more a minute. By all means help the suffering, but to be brutally realistic, don’t expect it to stop.

It will spread to the rest of the world: famine & disease are ALWAYS the companions and sequelae of Islam (Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco were once the grain baskets of the Roman empire). If the whole world becomes Islamic and there is NO one left to parasitize, havoc will rule as Islam can ONLY survive if it has a host to parasitize. The cannibalistic chaos that results means there will be less than a billion humans within 100 years and by 200 it will be a permanent dark Age for the 25-50 million survivors as it is the west who feeds and sustains this already over-huge population and who is responsible for pulling the world out of the last Dark Age. Under Islam there will be NO Enlightenment and NO Reformation and no technology. NO Muslim oil country can sustain its oil production without the tens of thousands of western fools who prostitute themselves for the Islamic dollar and once they are gone there will be no oil. The more advanced a civilization the harder and the nastier the fall.

The money being given to the Arab Invaders in Judea and Samaria could go to much better use to these poor South Sudanese.

The £.8 billion per year being given to the Israeli Invaders in Judea and Samaria could go to much better use to these poor South Sudanese. There seems to be no record of any Arab invaders at all in that area.

For shame Samuel Mcfadden! Let us not forget that every time we answer a cry for help, one of ours may be answered too! Put yourself in their shoes (or lack thereof )

Isaiah 58:10 If you give some of your own food to feed, those who are hungry and to satisfy the needs of those who are humble, then your light will rise in the dark, and your darkness will become as bright as the noonday sun.

Where are muslims? Where is islam? Why is the religion of peace not helping out? Why are the Christian west being once again being shown the result of muslim atrocities and islamic dogma, then the accusation made that it is somehow the fault to the west. Of course we will help. Know this islam, you will be held accountable for your sins.

Amen. Ever since I was a child (and granted that was a long time ago), the US has had campaigns to assist the poor peoples of Africa and parts of Asia. Isn’t it time they helped their own?

There is always enough to help others, even those who most assuredly, specifically many muslims, who are ingrates, demanding tribute from non muslims, as they starve and die of disease. It would be nice if islam would recognize the value of non muslims, but then, it would not be islam. islam is a demonic cult it will not change. But, decent people will remain decent people despite the evil of isalm.

If you recall…ALL monies and medicine go to the islamic and socialist governments in Africa, NOT to the people. The governments demand the people pay for the gifts we give them or work on their slave details for food and medicine.

And ever since I was a child
My Mum told me to eat all my supper
There are people starving in Africa she would say
So many years later, they still are it seems
Those at the top help themselves
Leaving the rest to starve or worse
Still happening, will continue
Harsh but true is my feeling

And of course where is the UN? Russia, China, Korea. As bad as the West is supposed to be why is it always us being generous and compassionate. I like to think we are better in many ways but it doesn’t mean the others including the muslamists should ride free.

islam is hate, even of its self. The lack of any compassion towards other people by muslims is what makes them stand out from humanity.

But, you can’t beat America over the head with starving African children (especially considering the money and medicine we give Africa).

That is part of the problem – ‘giving’ instead of teaching. This is a multi-faceted problem that goes way back, including supporting dictators like Mugabe et al who reduced his people to starvation after being the bread basket for much of Africa. It has nothing to do with compassion for humanity but all about political control.

Where is Blacklivesmatter on this?
They agitate for the Islamic Ummah which keeps Africans second class-citizens & slaves. They deceive that Africans wouldn’t be enslaved & oppressed by Islam’s base-principles so people stay dumb & don’t speak up against Islam!
#Ban Islam, save lives worldwide & free the African slaves from Saudi Arabia to Mauritania, the Biafra-leader, the Leavenworth 10, Israeli soldier Azaria, Salim Masih & so on.

American blacks like to claim African heritage and despise any whites in Africa, but check and see if ANY of them do ANYTHING to alleviate the suffering in Africa. It is the same reason their communities are like they are.

sudan, where muslim zombies are hard at work on the African Slave trade that’s been going non-stop since the 7th century. Incidentally, where is cair in all this mess in sudan? Not a peep from them and we know why neighbor! Once you dust off these muslim zombies and get rid of corrupted officials, then and only then the $ will go directly to the people. But in the meantime, the money that will pour in will be going into the hands of the scumbags I just mentioned and more of the same will continue as we see in these very sad photos.

The ‘UN’ should be shot and put down like the rabid dog it is!! Back in the late 60’s to early 70’s I remember well as a child watching commercials upon the great crises in Africa…how children were starving..and the pictures!! My god the pictures were unforgettable!! Now? Same pictures different people, same crises!! What on earth has the UN achieved for these people in Africa who are consistently under attack by generation after generation of war monger tribal leaders??? NOTHING!! Zero!! NADA!! Is anyone getting it yet? The UN is useless…absolutely useless!! *smh

Want to help Africa and those nations constantly under attack by generational tyrants? Then stop giving out hand outs and instead allow Africa to develop naturally!! Get the EU and the US out of Africa… let them do what will come naturally and allow them to develop without all this interference from westernized cultures who don’t want to have to compete with an industrial giant that Africa would most certainly become!!! *smh.
My prayers are never enough… I’ve cried tears as a child seeing this and I will cry tears of sorrow as an adult over the same crises, different people, same problem that is Africa.
