A man who came from El Salvador to the United States, where he’s lived illegally for some time, was recently captured and turned over to immigration officials for processing.

But because San Francisco has a sanctuary city label, the man, Pedro Figueroa-Zarceno, 33, sued — and won.

He was awarded $190,000.
Unbelievable. This is backwards thinking — unlawful is lawful; lawful, unlawful.

“Figueroa-Zarceno, 33, reached the settlement agreement with the city attorney’s office, said Saira Hussain, a staff attorney at the Asian Law Caucus who represented Zarceno. The agreement must be approved by the Board of Supervisors.
“It’s really important for San Francisco to remain a sanctuary city not in name only but also in practice,” Hussain told The San Francisco Examiner. “Our hope is that the department is going to look into this further and really examine the way that the department can do more.”
Figueroa-Zarceno sued San Francisco in January for violating its sanctuary city law.
The construction worker said he went to police in December 2015 after getting a call from authorities that his stolen car had been found. Instead of helping him, he said, officers detained him and called immigration authorities.
He was taken into custody by federal authorities outside the police station and was in jail for two months. He has been fighting his deportation since his release.
“What happened to me was very unfair and it was an injustice,” Figueroa-Zerceno said. “I went into the police station to seek help and they didn’t tell me what was happening and they arrested me and treated me badly.”
City law prohibits law enforcement officers from cooperating with federal immigration officials except when violent criminals are involved.
Thank goodness the House, at President Donald Trump’s pressing, just passed a couple of bills barring the unfettered practice of cities to offer illegals sanctuary.

This is a good thing, liberal socialists can put their money where their mouths are. If they want to have “sanctuary cities” then they will have to pay for them. This cash award to an illegal immigrant is only the first of many to follow. Now, if only the federal government will withdraw funds from sanctuary cites so they can demonstrate their commitment. This will attract lawyers to sanctuary cites like flies to islam.

On an unrelated tangent, speaking of the San Andreas Fault, San Francisco isn’t viable over the long term. I used to live across the Bay, and spent a lot of time thinking about earthquakes and tidal waves. A friend died in the 1989 quake (SF went dark and a fire started in one district, we could see it across the Bay. My friend died in the fire. Lots of SF was built on fill and is very unstable in a quake). Not only that, every 500 or 1000 years or so there is liable to be a huge tidal wave that washes a lot of SF away. The quake in Japan a few years ago generated a tidal wave that was still a foot or so high, inside the Bay, even after passing through the very narrow Golden Gate. I have a couple pictures of it on my facebook page, it was quite beautiful.

What’s astonishing about the illegals, including this guy, is that going through the process to apply for citizenship the right way, seems to be beneath them. Beyond arrogance. You never, EVER hear these people talking about how they have applied for citizenship, standing in line, filling out forms, looking forward to giving back to the country that gave them so much, etc. Just how we have wronged them and they deserve so much more. So disgusting. They deserve nothing.

This individual doesn’t qualify for citizenship because you have to be a permanent LEGAL resident for five years before applying, and that’s too bad for him. If someone doesn’t qualify to immigrate legally—and illiterate Central Americans certainly shouldn’t—then they shouldn’t immigrate at all. This country belongs to Americans, not to everybody in the world.

I don’t believe this is a race issue at all. Many non-whites have aligned themselves with the Caucasians. The world must learn to live together in peace, or humanity will disappear. People should read, and find out the truth, concerning who persecuted them, who is still persecuting them, how people truly feel about one another, if you get what I am saying.
Education is key. If people checked their DNA, they would be surprised. If possible, people should strive to be civilized, and live at peace, working together, to solve those problems that can be impacted upon. People should stop feeling superior to one another, and let each man live life as an adult, capable of making adult choices, as long as they are not injurious to others.

There was a detainer on him by ICE. So is a sanctuary city suppose to let everybody go even if they have a criminal background or not? Is that how it works? You tell me how this world will ever live in peace? We have radical Islam, Iran and North Korea? That’s just for starters. What you say is a nice thought but a long way off if ever. It makes so sad and angry to see this country headed down the path that it is. Thank God for Pres. Trump. It smells of the lunacy of the US or Weatern Europe, for we all know, that such stupidity, would never be allowed in Muslim lands or other countries. I recommend paying attention to how you vote, vote right, or accept your fate, imho. I would not visit sanctuary cities. Why would I spend my dollars to go for such lunacy? The left can try to pass this as normal, but I do not buy into it. I would rather donate to the Veterans, or medical research, or any number of good causes.
This man is guilty of wrong doing. In some countries, the penalty would be dear, like in the case of that poor soul Otto W. May he RIP. But in the US, the criminal is rewarded at the expense of the law abiding citizens. I have noted this pattern with the liberals, and it is for this reason, that decades ago, I switched political affiliation.
