Pakistan: Hospital that let Christian die now ORDERS ARREST of victim’s relatives to pressure them to drop charges

Injustice upon injustice. Christians in Pakistan are routinely harassed, bullied, discriminated against, and falsely accused. Those who exploit them and the police and governing authorities are all Muslim, so the Christians have no recourse.

Muslim doctors’ refusal to treat ‘filthy Christian’ during Ramadan leads to death

“Hospital in Pakistan Accused of Letting Christian Die Requests Arrest of Relatives, Colleagues,” Morning Star News, June 27, 2017:

LAHORE, Pakistan (Morning Star News) – Hospital officials are trying to pressure family members of a Christian who died from lack of treatment to drop charges against them by ordering their arrest, sources said.

A court in Pakistan has ordered police to register a case against family members and colleagues of Christian sanitation worker Irfan Masih, who died on June 1 after doctors declined to provide him timely medical care, they said.

Police had initially turned down Civil Hospital Umerkot Medical Superintendent Dr. Jam Kumbhar’s demand to register a First Information Report (FIR) against 16 people, including four family members of Masih, for allegedly “attacking the hospital and obstructing the doctors from performing their duties,” Senior Superintendent of Police Usman Javed Bajwa told Morning Star News by phone from Umerkot District, Sindh Province.

Kumbhar later filed a court request directing police to arrest those named in the FIR, mostly sanitation workers along with Masih’s relatives.

“The police have registered a case under the court’s order, but we have not arrested any of the named persons because we believe that the hospital is making frivolous accusation against these people,” Bajwa said.

He said he would ensure that the victim’s family receives justice.

“The hospital is ostensibly trying to pressure the family to withdraw their case by getting a FIR registered against them, but we hope that the court will admit the police’s investigation report and dismiss the FIR,” he said.

A cousin of Irfan Masih who also works as a sanitary worker, Pervaiz Masih, is among the 16 people named in the case.

“The hospital has levied a false charge against us in order to save themselves,” Pervaiz Masih told Morning Star News. “The doctors were responsible for Irfan’s death, because he would have been alive today had they not refused to treat him immediately. Our outburst against the doctors was natural, but we did not damage or steal anything from the hospital. It is a lie, and even the police know it.”

Senior Superintendent of Police Bajwa said he was present when the accused were protesting against hospital administrators and later blocked a highway.

“Although blocking highways is also a crime, I told my force to let them continue with their protest as they had lost a loved one,” he said. “The hospital administration had also tried to influence us to use force against the protestors when they inadvertently broke some glass at the hospital, but the situation did not call for excessive police action.”

Kumbhar claims in the FIR that Masih was already dead when he was brought to the hospital and that doctors saved other patients’ lives. The FIR alleges that around 150 people attacked the hospital when Masih was pronounced dead, and that the hospital suffered damages to furniture and medical equipment amounting to 500,000 rupees (US$4,725), Bajwa said.

Bajwa said that the medical superintendent’s accusations reeked of mala fide and that he hoped the FIR would be dismissed as contrary to facts.

“Only some glass was broken during the protest at the hospital,” he said. “The medical superintendent has also alleged that the protestors had stolen an empty oxygen cylinder from the hospital, whereas the fact is that the protestors were waving the empty cylinder during the protest to show that it did not contain oxygen that could have saved the man’s life.”…

Truly disgusting behaviour.

It shows how religious indoctrination can make even doctors behave inhumanely and go against their oath to “do no harm” because they believe they have a responsibility to a higher IMAGINARY being.

And what makes you behave humanely if you are an atheist, agnostic etc. – just asking.

John Thimakis
John Thimakis

The fact that I value the well being of conscious creatures. That which causes harm is bad. That which promotes well being is good.

With this simple guiding principle based solely on our innate human empathy, I have a mechanism for judging morals and can state that certain actions to be objectively immoral. Like causing unnecessary pain etc.

It’s is not just an arbitrary set of rules that Christianity has that you selfishly obey just because of an unprovable promise of an afterlife or obey them out of a fear of hell.

I actually care about my fellow human being not because I am told to, but because I have empathy and because it is also the rational thing to do because by helping and caring about others promotes a peaceful society and benefits me eventually by others reciprocating help and care.

Does that caring attitude extend to the unborn but conscious foetus?

John Thimakis
John Thimakis

It is debatable when a foetus gains consciousness. That aside it is not a comparable experience to what you are calling consciousness. The foetus is not aware of its surroundings or its situation. You could argue that a foetus feels pain but this is only after the nervous system has fully formed.

The majority of countries that allow abortions generally only allow them up to a certain number of weeks into a pregnancy. This gives plenty of time for a woman to make an informed decision and the foetus at that stage is still not able to survive on its own outside the womb.

A foetus although it is human, could not properly be called a person.

So a caring attitude does not care about human potential?

John Thimakis
John Thimakis

I certainly do but the rights of the mother outweigh any potential person at that point.

Plus that is oversimplistic.

By your argument spilt sperm is a potential human and therefore masturbation is immoral.

Duchess of Pork

Reply to  John Thimakis

Both of your points are also oversimplistic. The responsibilities of a mother could arguably outweigh her “rights”. Certainly Islamic cultures believe so yet it is the western mindset of helping and caring for others to promote a peaceful society that is allowing these cultures to disrupt and divide our own.

And no I do not conflate a gamete with zygote. Your suggestion would also make menstruation immoral.

John Thimakis
John Thimakis

It isn’t my suggestion but yours and others that try to apply personhood to a cluster of cells. (a zygote).

The primary responsibility of a mother is firstly to herself then to any zygote that is dependent on her biological systems to maintain its life.

Ps. Nice attempt at trying to blame the West for the problems in the Islamic world. I bet it is the West’s fault too that the women in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to drive or leave the country without the written permission of a man.

Don’t make laugh. Islam doesn’t know the meaning of the word “peace”. To you it means “we will leave you alone if you let us subjugate you or we must admit the superiority of Islam and pay the jisya tax”.

Sorry but we won’t stand for such primitive and barbaric notions. ?

Reply to  John Thimakis

You really are quite an expert in obstrusional transferrence, It was not my argument that biological functions are immoral or that problems in the Islamic world are the fault of the West. Those are your inferences from what I have previously written and neither are correct. But I am curious as to how one whose guiding principle is based solely on “our” innate human empathy, who values the well-being of conscious creatures and who cares about fellow human beings (values that align so closely with those of the progressive left) can be so discriminatory is applying those values.

John Thimakis
John Thimakis

Simple. A zygote is not conscious. Neither is a foetus (until very late in the pregnancy).

You obviously missed the point.
It is the well being of “CONSCIOUS” creatures, that we value and not simply a cluster of cells that has the potential to become a child.

No, my point which appears to elude you is that Muslims are also conscious creatures who should, according to your register of morality, be equally deserving of your empathy, help and care. Or is your morality somewhat more selective and comparative?

John Thimakis
John Thimakis

Oh.
I do indeed care for all humans equally. Muslim or otherwise.

Whether I respect their ideology or religious beliefs is a separate issue.

I don’t think I implied that I don’t apply my values consistently. I have nothing against Muslims and their beliefs in and of themselves. However since our beliefs inform our actions, it is the consequences of these beliefs that I have an issue with.

Good day again. ??

I had a kidney transplant 32 years ago. I have done sensationally well and without any rejection. I went to see my kidney doctor for my routine exam but he turned my appointment over to a Muslim Dr. My numbers were ‘Straight A’ down the line, I looked and felt great. I commented on this and this Muslims ‘Dr.’ starts this long sadistic spiel about how it is possible for numbers to hide a serious condition. His rambling, cruel monologue was nearly-incoherent and so shockingly unprofessional and as I ascertained, simply untrue. I researched this Dr. and found him to be an important member of the small local Wahhaist mosque. Never again and they can label me a ‘hater’ all they want.

So you know those PSAs that have been running around about how all the baby boomers probably have Hepatitis (probably from tainted polio vaccines)? Well my dad fell into that category and through his treatment process ends up running into an Egyptian doctor, full on radical with the dent in his forehead, who proceeds to verbally berate him about being a homosexual or drug user since that’s the only way to get Hepatitis in the doctor’s mind. That whole encounter ended up about as well as you’d expect an encounter between a young muslim and a cantankerous old man would.

My Jewish friend suffered a stroke. His muslum doctor prescribed him a regimen of coumadin that would’ve put him in hospital or killed him within a week if an independent lab hadn’t tested his blood levels less than three days after the regimen was implemented. The dosage prescribed would only be appropriate if the treatment plan’s goal was euthanasia.
The strange thing is the f’ing muslum bastage mentioned to my friend that coumadin was originally discovered and used as…RAT POISON.

Today, they are mostly muslim halal and the city gave them the best spots. Right behind my street is Restaurant Row where 7 on one block are Mexican, staffed with non-English speaking illegal immigrants and serving overpriced corn meal! I avoid them too.

Thanks for the info. My son lives in a rural area that also hasn’t sunk that low, but the county is taking some of his land to widen the road for commerce. Perhaps that road will become an Interstate road for illegals too. Fortunately, everyone on his road is fighting the county, but in his State, the people don’t stand a chance of winning on any level of government (no, it’s not California – lol).
