So diversity is a great thing — right? That’s what the left will sell. But amid all the calls for immigrant rights and all the roll-outs of welcome mats for refugees, here’s a thought to chew: What about the failures of these migrants to learn the language of the country in which they’re coming?
As one girl’s story shows, such failures could proev fatal.
A teenager, 17, named Vera Mol plunged to her death during a failed bungee jump after the instructor — who spoke very poor English — gave directions that were misinterpreted.

“The 17-year-old was taking part in an organised jump off of Cabezon de la Sal in Cantabria back in 2015.
“She was in a harness but it was not clipped on to the bungee cord.
“It is thought she misunderstood her instructor, who said “no jump”, but she mistook it for “now jump”, leaping to her untimely death.
“Ms. Mol, of the Netherlands, plunged 40 metres to her death off the bridge, which was above a dry riverbed outside the town of Cabezón de la Sal, in Spain’s northern region of Cantabria.
“She was the last one out of a group of 13 young people to jump off the bridge.
“An inquest into her death found the instructor, who has not been named, should have used the phrase ‘don’t jump’ to avoid any confusion.
“The court heard his English was described as “macarronico”, which means ‘very bad.'”

When employed in a position that requires communication, the ability to speak the language should be mandatory. It is islamphobic to single out people who do not speak the working language of the nation, but that is what islam is all about, death, even if this fatality had noting to do with islam, it would approve.

Diversity is not indiscriminately a successful concept, what is a successful concept is universality, globalism.
Universal language English, universal human rights, universal ecology.
Saying ‘no’ instead of ‘don’t’ is common & it leaves an embarrassing, unsatisfactory void in understanding which as a consequence here was deadly.
The harness should be always secured first.
In a system of socialism that safety-quality standard can be cultivated, in the chaotic concept of unaccountable capitalism not. So the problem is capitalism. (If it would had been a socialist state the problem would had been uncultivated socialism.)

IN a manner, isn’t this like a teen refusing to look for cars when crossing the street, while clicking on their latest gadget? We’ve all seen that, and the often fast-braking of cars as a result. Being harnessed up to a bungee on such a thing as jumping off a cliff, should force any rational person to look for themselves, and check they were properly hooked up and ready to go. More than proper English would be proper procedures. Like a pilot’s check-list. Helmet, check! Harness, check! Bungee (tug, tug) check. Then a visual and verbal sign, the jumper can see, “thumb’s up!” “OK to Jump”. Tragic results, Ms. Mol sounds like the typical millinneal teen, “everyone else is responsibile for me”.

She was under 18. Not considered, in law, adult enough to make her own decisions, largely because young people under 18 are quite rightly, recognised as not having enough life experience to be able to assess and deal with a lot of situations. At that age, everyone else IS responsible for her.

A customer is trusting the company with his/her life. I completely disagree with you. The customer has no responsibility. They have a harness on and don’t know if it is connected to anything. By your logic, there should be no gates at the roller coaster loading dock because customers should know how far back to stand to be safe. In your scenario of a teen “refusing to look for cars” it’s so completely different than paying a company to escort you across an unfamiliar road with unfamiliar safety rules step-by-step.

I don’t understand why any sane person would want to bungee jump to begin with. Too many things can go wrong as we see here. That being said what the hell is this company doing hiring dysfunctional foreigners who can’t speak properly. It could be he did it on purpose? Taking out the infidel one at a time. Allah is proud I am sure. It’s pretty amazing this muzzie had a job to begin with since most sit around collecting social benefits.

So true. I do understand why they hop the border their countries are so poor. However, we need to know who is residing in our country . Therefore I am against the way they escape into America. We have no idea what the illegals plan to do once here.
You can’t have a huge population of undocumented people just doing as they please.

As a trained climbing instructor I can tell you that it is against all logic and rules to let anyone near an edge without being tied off. That means everyone. This venue is/was clearly operated by morons. Seriously folks, you really do have to think for yourself.

Regardless of language spoken, the company should have people harnessed and locked in, clipped on, and completely safe before ever getting near an edge. Briefing and verbal responses before, during, and after putting on the harness, and a physical pulling on the cord. This is 100% the fault of the company, regardless of who they hire.
