Talk about a sure shot. An ISIS terrorist was snagged and dropped by a British special forces sniper who was stationed at a secret spot one and one-half miles from his target.
It took three seconds for the bullet to hit the target, according to local reports.
Apparently, the sniper was using a CheyTac M200 intervention gun, the world’s most powerful hand-held firearm.

“The SAS sniper reached his jihadi target in three seconds, using the CheyTac M200 Intervention gun, which holds the record for the world’s longest shot.
“Priced at an astonishing £10,500 ($13,800), the rifle produced is only produced in California.
“A source told the Star on Sunday: “It was a classic counter-sniper operation. The ISIS gunman was moving all the time to get into the best position to get a kill.
“‘It was like a game of cat-and-mouse and at one point the SAS almost gave up, believing that the terrorist had gone to ground.
“‘Just as the light was beginning to fade the gunman moved into what he thought was a safe location and lifted his rifle up into his shoulder before the SAS shot him dead.’
“The incidentally reportedly took place two weeks ago in Iraq’s war-torn city of Mosul as the jihadi was leaving a burned-out building.
“Noticing the nonconformist militant, the gunman reportedly pulled the trigger to shoot the terrorist. The incident is now logged in the sniper’s books as his ‘most difficult kill,’ reports have claimed.”

Let’s see. There are 3600 seconds in one hour.
So, the bullet traveled at an average speed of 1.5 miles / (3 seconds / (3600 seconds/hour)) = 1800 miles/hour!

You need a class in exterior Ballistics and a follow-up in Calculus, The Maximum speed of the projectile at the muzzle is 1,111ft/sec. This load data is direct from the manufacturer for the projectile. Using your wild assumption your speed is an average of 2640 ft/sec. and remains constant to target. Impossible math only in the fantasy world.

Yep. I used this article’s two values — 3 seconds and 1.5 miles — in the basic arithmetic, which requires no calculus. Travelling 1.5 miles in 3 seconds is equivalent to travelling 1800 miles in one hour (3600 seconds). Something must be off in one or both of this article’s values. Thanks for catching their “wild assumptions”, and thanks for your service!

Yeah, Kimber is made in NY, Springfield, Rock River Arms and Lewis Machine are all in IL, although Lewis is moving across the river (as I did) to Eldridge, Iowa.

Agreed. I bought a Glock 35 (40 S&W) for practical pistol competition but the dealer warned me it was “California compliant”, meaning the magazines that came with it would only hold 10 rounds. No problem, I just bought some 15 round capacity magazines from a supplier in, you guessed it, California.

This rifle uses specialty ammo in the form of .408 CheyTac or .375 CheyTac and has an effective range of 2,500 yards or a little over 2 miles. To give you an idea, a .458 Winchester is widely used as an elephant gun while a .375 H&H is a popular weapon for “dangerous game”, meaning it can take down its target animal with one shot since every such encounter does not allow for a subsequent one. Crap, and I thought I had the real skills of marksmanship nailed down by being able to hit an aluminum beer bottle at 200 yds. through the open sights on my WWII .30-06 M-1 Garand?
