Gingrich: Comedians today are “so enraged at Donald Trump that they can’t be funny”

Gingrich has a point, but it isn’t so much that comedians are angry that makes them unfunny. It is that they’re brimming with hatred and self-righteous leftist assumptions that most Americans don’t share. Hollywood and the entertainment establishment in general seems to assume that their entire audience is as far-left as they are, and they don’t care how much they alienate people who actually love America and freedom.

“Gingrich: Comedians Are ‘Too Angry To Be Funny’ [VIDEO],” by Amber Athey, Daily Caller, May 7, 2017:

Newt Gingrich identified a major problem with late-night comedians, asserting that they are too angry with President Trump to be funny.

“Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace showed his panel, which included the former Speaker of the House, a clip of Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue about health care and Stephen Colbert’s arguably homophobic comments about Trump….

“The problem you have with humor in America today is that Hollywood is so enraged at Donald Trump that they can’t be funny,” Gingrich responded. “All they’ve got is pure anger.”…“They ain’t funny because they’re too angry to be funny,” he summed up.

There is a long list of particulars that has destroyed their comic impact: 1) attacks are ad homonym which eventually become distasteful; 2) attacks repeat discredited accusations like the Russian attempt to throw the election; 3) attacks are based on double standards where liberals are outraged over things they, too, have done in the past; 4) attacks fail to give credit for some of the positive things that have happened like job growth and reduced illegal immigration; and the list goes on. . . . Just turn to different sources of news and humor.

Well said! The ones that really were funny didn’t indulge in all that profanity.

And all were return fire on Donald Trump, whose own language used is even worse even now. Yet you give him a pass.

If people do not enjoy this “humor,” they should stop watching the shows. Hit them in the pocketbook.

Todays limp attempts of the chronically unemployable to become comedians falls flat. They have no new ideas, material or methods of delivery. If at least they would go back to a the “pie in the face” routine, it might get a giggle. In a word, todays comedians are a joke, a boring, dull, stale joke.

Yeah, that’s a good point. Comedians aren’t funny any more for some reason. It wasn’t too many years ago they could still make me laugh.

newt missed the obvious. the hallmark of any member of the democrat-muslim party, their one defining personality trait, is a complete lack of a sense of humor. no different than bolsheviks or nazis or muslims, not a group that generates any comedians, and truly the most thin-skinned group I’ve ever seen in america

Well they pick a socialist sob because he’s a socialist sob and then think he’ll be funny. Make him earn the job. He never was funny. the show was never funny. Jay was almost always funny

The TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) damage runs further than just the counterfeit comedians these days. Being a Vietnam War vet, I use to be a huge devotee of MASH reruns until Michael Farrell (BJ) and Loretta Swit (Hot Lips) appeared in that Martin Sheen PSA imploring the Electoral College voters to reject whatever their states voted and cast it in a renegade fashion for Hillary. Thanks for ruining 40 years of MASH memories, assholes!
