Look at the smile on this man’s face. Matthew Dowd and those intellectuals and fellow travelers he surrounds himself with, live in a bubble of indoctrinated delusion that needs constant reinforcement, which is exactly what he’s doing here. Paying his verbal dues to retain and even strengthen his standing within his own mind and within the group.

Any indication of self doubt or semblance of suspicion concerning the validity of their own opinions will jeopardize their social acceptance by those with whom they’ve chosen to respect, emulate and admire. In their eyes, questioning the validity of any aspect of their opinions, doubt, is cause for admonition, condemnation, ostracization from the group, accompanied by being labeled their favorite villain, an extreme, right wing, bigoted, racist, Islamophobe, a fate, in their eyes, almost worse than death.
