San Francisco Transit Considers BANNING FREE SPEECH After AFDI Submits Our Latest Bus Campaign: HERE’S THE AD

26

San Francisco, the leftwing mecca of radical liberalism, is moving towards shutting down free speech on their transit systems after we submitted our latest ad campaign (above) to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority to run on buses across the city (photo-shopped on bus above). This action is emblematic of the left: silence your opponents, like all totalitarians do. Here is where the euphemistically  named “free speech movement” has taken us — oppression and tyranny. This is an outrageous violation of our First Amendment rights. Freedom of speech is the foundation of a free society. Without it, a tyrant can wreak havoc unopposed, while his opponents are silenced. Inoffensive speech needs no protection. The First Amendment was developed precisely in order to protect speech that was offensive to some, in order to prevent those who had power from claiming they were offended by speech opposing them and silencing the powerless.

We submitted this ad a week ago, now a ban is being considered.

The ad merely calls for support of Trump’s immigration ban and runs the names of refugees into the US who have been convicted of Islamic terror, and we intend to run it in sanctuary cities across America where free speech has not yet been banned. Sadly this is an ever-increasing number — New York, Washington DC, Boston, Miami, Chicago have all banned “political” and “cause related” advertising.

The controversial ads are a project of the American Freedom Defense Initiative. Its president, Pamela Geller, reportedly told Breitbart News in 2016 that San Francisco is among the last major cities to not ban political speech.

That sort of Ban, Geller told Breitbart, is “a ban on the truth, in accordance with Sharia. They say it’s hate speech but that’s the euphemistic narrative. It’s like putting a pretty white bow on a steaming pile of dung.”

Muni to consider banning political advertising on buses

San Francisco Examiner, April 4, 2017:

An advertising campaign by the American Freedom Defense Initiative is seen on the side of a Muni bus August 14, 2012/

Now San Francisco may ban such political speech on Muni bus advertisements and other transit property when the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors votes on a policy revision Tuesday.

The vote would specifically amend the SFMTA’s advertising policy to prohibit advertisements that “concern a political or public issue,” contain profanity or violent descriptions, or are “adverse to the interests of the SFMTA,” according to a staff report.

The staff report added it is considering revising its own ad policy “in response to other large U.S. transit agencies deciding to restrict the type of content permitted in their advertising space.”

If approved, the ban would take effect Wednesday.

Since last year, the SFMTA met with a number of groups concerning the ad policy, including the Asian Law Caucus, the local branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Jewish Community Relations Council and the San Francisco Interfaith Council.

“The Advertising Policy was revised in response to feedback and comments from these groups,” the SFMTA wrote.

In 2015 a group called “Street Cred – Advertising for the People” announced an anti-ad campaign to splash Marvel Comics prominent Muslim superhero, Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, on top of the controversial ads.

Alongside Ms. Marvel read messages including, “STAMP OUT RACISM,” “FREE SPEECH ISN’T A LICENSE TO SPREAD HATE,” and “Islamophobia hurts us all.”

I love it !! I hope we can get that one through. Great job, Pamela!

    • Suresh

The article is about Left/Liberal stopping the ad ! They support jihadi immigration.

Ignorance is No bliss. These jihadis are so vicious they do not even spare Aid workers who help them http://tinyurl.com/p8rdp7w

And No, its not happening in pakistan/afganistan/Russia , its happening in America too.

      • Gizmo

So the ad has already been banned. Not clear from the article. Thanks for clearing that up for everyone.

        • Suresh

This is Not the first ad they banned about Islam/jihadis from Pamela . It just proves they are in bed with muslims not American citizens .

      • Dwight

Yeah, thanks for telling us what the article is about.

      • Fern

        The ad covers 3 topics:
        1. The proposed ad itself.
        2. Whether *San Fransisco* will ban it and affect free speech there.
        3. That the ad can still be run in other cities at this time.

Whatever, I love the ad. Run it Wherever it can be.

        • ninetyninepct

The idea that we even use the phrase “wherever it can be’ in America is horribly disturbing. Who the fk has decided that they are the ones to decide what others read, see, do or hear?

  • Guessed Worker

Perfect! Another reason I love this ad is that it also puts Trump in the psycholib’s face! LOL

  • Dwight

Running that ad through sanctuary cities — delicious.

  • Jennifer McDavies

Well even if the ad is not approved at least all pro jihadi propaganda should be banned too so at least that will be accomplished.

  • Mahou Shoujo

Silencing critics does not convert them, now, the hatred for islam will become private deep rooted and impossible to control. The subtle ways that hate can be shown will appear in how muslims are seen by the public.

  • RCCA

There you go PG, being “Islamophobic”again. Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, painters got to paint, etc. Here’s the thing, if I am actually afraid of someone the last thing I’m going to do is something they don’t like. So clearly imo, Pamela Geller is not afraid of Islam.

    • Fromafar

Did you have a point to make other than that PG is brave?

      • RCCA

Not sure why you felt compelled to criticize my comment (of all the comments here) instead of making your own, or what your problem is. But, since you may be asking for help I will explain my comment to you. I was making three points, apparently not clearly enough for you:

        1. The ads, as well as PG, are characterized as being anti-Muslim and Islamophobic, that’s why they are rejected by liberals.
        2. Despite the continual rejection of and futility of trying to place her ads Geller is still compelled to produce and submit them for display. That is her nature. As a free speech advocate she simply can not abide censorship.
        3. The absurdity of the accusations by her critics are self evident: pointing out terrorists doesn’t mean that all Muslims are terrorists, nor does it indicate a fear of all Muslims or Islam. Clearly Geller is not afraid to criticize Islamic terrorism, she does it everyday.

I never said anything about Geller being brave. I have no idea how she would respond were she in actual physical danger without the protection of a security detail. Certainly she has moral courage and personal fortitude, but that is not the same thing as bravery imo. OK?

        • Fromafar

As to brave, you said, “Why should she be afraid of Islam”. She likely is to some extent and yet she persists. In you’re very well written comment above, you further elucidate her “bravery” in the face of overwhelming forces against her, both foreign and domestic.

I opine as a clarification to your first line – this indeed defines that she is clearly brave.

As to the rest of your post, thank you very much, I agree with you and you’ve made a nice point.
My point was, if you’re going to write an opinion, make it clear what you mean.

In the words of Lewis Carroll. “Say what you mean and mean what you say”.

          You’re response did. Nice post.

    • santashandler

Why should she be afraid of Islam. That’s exactly what the degenerates in dirty night shirt want her to be. Good for her. More people should be exercising their 1st Amendment rights like her.

  • lostlegends

Why don’t you run it in Folsom, CA, or in Sacramento, CA?

  • santashandler

Awesome. If the SFMTA decides to ban those ads, I hope Pamela sues the s**t out of them.

  • AlgorithmicAnalyst

They already had a plan to take over the city, and were working to implement it, as far back as 1967.
