Establishment Republicans Rush to Finger-Point Trump in Leadup to 100 Days

19

[the_ad id=”90673″]President Donald Trump just can’t get a break, it seems. Not only do Democrats hate him. But members of his own party — at least, the establishment-minded ones — are always standing at the ready to take him down and showcase his faults.

President Donald Trump has cracked down on illegals in the United States, as he promised during his campaign.

This, from Politico:

“Republicans say [Trump] needs to turn things around fast — or the GOP could pay dearly in 2018.”

Story continues below advertisement

Really, Republicans — really? Does the GOP always have to go the gloom and doom route on one of its own, yet cave and cower to those of the opposite party?

If Republicans had only spoken so critically of Barack Obama.

More from Politico:

“With the party preparing to defend its congressional majorities in next year’s midterms, senior Republicans are expressing early concern about Trump’s lack of legislative accomplishments, his record-low approval ratings, and the overall dysfunction that’s gripped his administration.

“The stumbles have drawn the attention of everyone from GOP mega-donor Sheldon Adelson, who funneled tens of millions of dollars into Trump’s election and is relied upon to bankroll the party’s House and Senate campaigns, to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Adelson hasn’t contributed to pro-Trump outside groups since the inauguration, a move that’s drawn notice within the party, and McConnell is warning associates that Trump’s unpopularity could weigh down the GOP in the election.

“Potential GOP candidates whom party leaders want to recruit are afraid of walking into a buzz saw, uncertain about what kind of political environment they’ll be facing by the time the midterms come around — and what Trump’s record will look like.

[the_ad id=”90673”]

“As tumultuous as Trump’s first 100 days have been, there’s still plenty of time for him to correct course. The president is projecting confidence that the GOP can resuscitate its stalled repeal of Obamacare, pass tax reform, and work with Democrats on a major public works package. Success on those fronts would no doubt calm the GOP’s current jitters.

“But interviews with more than a dozen top Republican operatives, donors and officials reveal a growing trepidation about how the initial days of the new political season are unfolding. And they underscore a deep anxiety about how the party will position itself in 2018 as it grapples with the leadership of an unpredictable president still acclimating to Washington.

“‘It’s not the way you’d want to start a new cycle,’ said Randy Evans, a Republican National Committee member from Georgia. “At some point, they’ve got to find some kind of rhythm, and there is no rhythm yet.’

‘They’ve got to put some drives together,’ he added.

“Appearing Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” White House chief of staff Reince Priebus pushed back on the suggestion Trump has accomplished little. Among other things, Priebus pointed to the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch and reports that border crossings have plummeted since the start of the new year.

“‘He is fulfilling his promises and doing it at breakneck speed,’ Priebus said.”

It is increasingly apparent that the old style Republicans have got to go, purge them out of the party, they are more of a liability than democrats. Treachery from the ranks is not a good thing.

Of course Politico will emphasis anything negative about Trump it hears. It is as bad as the MSM for crap like that.

Republican legislators criticizing Trump’s lack of legislative accomplishments? Sounds like projection to me. Do they not understand the differing roles of the executive and legislative branches of government?

Agreed. Let’s see, installed a Supreme Court Justice, rolled back job killing regulations, approved the Keystone and Dakota access pipelines, and served notice to the rest of the world that the US is back. What’s not to like?

With Obama there were so many flaws and anyone who pointed them out was branded a racist. The worst president in our history got a complete pass from the corrupt media, he wasn’t even vetted, I guess because he was the magic negro. He still hasn’t been vetted but I’m still hoping the truth will out about Obama.

Enter Trump and it’s deja vu all over again with a new derangement syndrome from the left and strangely also large portions of the right. I think that points to two things, first the nature of Trump being more a populist than a politician – the elite in general are outraged. And second, with the now burgeoning presence of uni-party politics driven by globalism and hunger for power the distinction between Republican and Democrat is more blurred than ever.
The difference however between the left and the right has come sharply into focus. The continues to stand for limited government, free enterprise, capitalism, nationalism, and strength and exceptionalism. The left has drifted completely toward statism, globalism, entitlement politics, abandoning the rule of law as founded in the Constitution, weaponization of government to attack political foes, I’m sure others can add to this list.

I don’t see civil war coming, look at how much of the map is red and consider who the gun owners are. I don’t see California seceding, the Dems who are still in the legislature won’t want to lose the 55 electoral votes. But it will take some time to turn things around. I think at the root of the problem is the Marxist infiltration of the education system from K-12 up through the universities. The hippies who in the 60’s wanted to stick it to the man have now become the man and they want to stick it to the people.

Yes, Well put. Time and again the rino “freedom” whiners have obstructed not constructed alternatives. It seems they are trying to spin a safe space (sounds like tricks from the msm and demon-rats) as a cover for 2018.

Screw the GOP. They don’t care one whit about the country, all they care about is getting re-elected.

This is good news. We don’t like the establishment republicans. That is why Trump is President. As always the establishment is so slow to learn.

Most of the politicians have corrupted themselves through compromise of the voting public. Trump seems to be the only one with a clear goal in mind and has strong convictions to not bend to pressure from others. He must lead from strength and not kowtow to the lower rung spineless RINO republicans…

If you watch just any news or read one of the shabby newspapers available in the US, it is easy to draw the wrong conclusions since you are left to our own devices. My strategy is to start buying “National Enquirer” for a fresher and more objective perspective on things.

Time to get new faces in the Republican party – vote out those who are out of touch with the people who vote. Vote in more candidates like Trump, and start really draining the swamp. The Donald will be glad for the help.

I think half of the Republican Party had mentally accepted Hillary as the next president and was in the process of making compromises with the Democratic leadership. When Trump was elected, it was sort of a letdown for the compromisers. They should have vigorously promoted their party candidate and didn’t. Now they feel guilty and continue to put down Trump. Paul Ryan is one of the worst of them. Their continued criticism of Trump is aiding and abetting the clueless Democrats. How smart is that?

I would think the gop’s two faced establishment cowards – we know who they are -would be more worried about their own records in 2018 instead of pointing fingers at Trump. He has tried to get them to s*** or get off the commode and to quit stinking up the place time and again with the obstructionist democrats. I’d say they and the democrats need a to consider a mega political enema. This ultimately is about the lying msm – nothing new – attempting to spin reality and that needs to be constantly brought to the public’s attention. Trump is not to blame for the lack of creativity by some of the gop and democrats and/or their willingness to work together. The real job is figuring out how to work around them.
