Schumer’s preposterous claim appeared in this article: “Democrats Turn Against Israel,” Wall Street Journal, March 19, 2017:
…There are still pro-Israel Democrats, but they are beleaguered and equivocal. New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, now the minority leader, described himself in 2010 as the Senate’s protector of Israel: “My name . . . comes from a Hebrew word. It comes from the word shomer, which mean guardian.” But how effectively has he played that role?

But killing it would have taken 13 Democrats, and Politico reported Mr. Schumer phoned Democratic colleagues to “assure them he would not be whipping opposition to the deal.” Mr. Schumer—whose Brooklyn apartment building has been protested by leftist opponents of President Trump—was also an early backer of Mr. Ellison for the party chairmanship….
Not only was Schumer’s opposition to the Iran deal empty posturing, but he was lying about his name. Geller Report reader Jeff writes me: “As for Chuck Schumer’s preposterous claim that his name derives from the Hebrew root, shomer (guard), this is just typical of this kapo’s bluster. If Schumer could speak Hebrew or had actual knowledge of Jewish history, he would know that Ashkenazi surnames are almost always of European derivation. His is no exception. And is in fact, most appropriate.”
Wildly appropriate, in fact. According to Ancestry.com, the name Schumer comes from “North German (Schümer): nickname from Middle Low German schumer ‘good-for-nothing’, ‘vagabond.’”
Few, if any, politicians have been more aptly named.

In some languages the primary word is always stated first than the secondary is stated. Like in the Spanish language. So with that said, could Schmuckie Schumer have the meaning of “good for nothing penis?”

Schumer needs to be censured for demeaning the Congress and ordered to shut up. He should be removed from every committee as should other DemonRATs – they lost – I’m sick of hearing this idiot flap his jowls.

and it is bull. There are many people in Germany with the name Schumer. That name has nothing to do with Schümer. I found a interesting point. In a german book , it is about a different name but als mentions the name Schumer and where it comes from. Beside that if u go to wiki you can find 2 different pages and they do point in the direction of it being a hebrew based name. If you look at how you pronaunz hebrew and u know german you see what he means. I can not stand Schumer but I agree that his name can be of jewish orig.

I’ve just read in the tea leaves that Schumer actually means ‘Piece of scheit’. Anyway, it doesn’t matter what a name “means”, it doesn’t make Chuck Schumer what the name “means”, what is important is what he is, and he is nothing more pigs droppings of which he is ‘full of it’.

When the Sultan of Turkey sent an emissary to talk with Vlad Tsepes (Count Dracula, the impaler of Muslims), his purpose to assassinate Tsepes, Tsepes nailed the emissary’s hat to his head. “Schumer” means “scum” in a literal sense in Yiddish.
It was the surname given to traveling con men that came to villages selling snake oil cure alls.
