Donald Trump, in characteristic bold style, took to Twitter to fight back at Democrats who are gearing up to oppose Obamacare’s repeal, specifically honing in on Sen. Chuck Schumer and his nationally televised attacks on the president-elect.
Schumer on MSNBC with Rachel Maddow said “I think we can really nail him,” in reference to standing up to Trump and his White House agenda. Schumer also called Trump “really dumb” on the same show for speaking out bluntly about the politicization of America’s intelligence agencies.
Trump, in a series of Twitter posts, made clear he’s not afraid of the fight.
He wrote in one tweet: “Republicans must be careful in that the Dems own the failed ObamaCare disaster, with its poor coverage and massive premium increases. …”
And that was followed by another that continued the thought: “like the 116% hike in Arizona. Also, deductibles are so high that it is practically useless. Don’t let the Schumer clowns out of this web…”
And another, a continuance of the same line of logic: “massive increases of ObamaCare will take place this year and Dems are to blame for the mess. It will fall of its own weight. Be careful.”
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has actually come out in recent days to say to fellow Democrats that those who support an Obamacare repeal will own their decisions – though she intended the remarks as a threat.
Trump campaigned hard on a repeal and replacecment of Obamacare and members of Congress returning to Capitol Hill this week set to work immediately to discuss how they might accomplish that goal.
