Texas to Obama: You Can Keep Your Refugee Resettlements – We Opt Out

39

Texas has taken the bold, in-your-face step of telling the federal government: You can take your refugee resettlement program and – find some other state to play.

Gov. Greg Abbott said his state wasn’t going to participate in the Office of Refugee Resettlement program because of security concerns.

His comments come just a few days after terrorists struck New York and New Jersey in separate bombing incidents.

Reuters has the story:

“The Texas State Refugee Coordinator sent a letter to the [federal Office of Refugee Resettlement] agency, giving 120 days notice of its intention to withdraw, charging the program was riddled with problems that present security risks, Republican Governor Greg Abbott said.

“The Office of Refugee Resettlement said in a statement its services to help integrate newcomers into U.S. society are only provided after they complete stringent U.S. security screenings.

“Despite multiple requests by the State of Texas, the federal government lacks the capability or the will to distinguish the dangerous from the harmless, and Texas will not be an accomplice to such dereliction of duty to the American people,’ Abbott said in a statement.”

A politician who puts Americans first – listen up, President Obama. You could learn a thing or two.

Reuters went on:

“Texas, a bellwether state for conservative policies, has seen other Republican-led states follow its lead in challenging the Obama administration’s refugee resettlement plans in and out of the courts.”

Secretary of State John Kerry, apparently blind to the terrorist acts that were just committed on America’s soil, and of the terrorism threat that open borders bring, had this to say, again from Reuters:

“‘The security vetting for this population, the most vulnerable of individuals, is extraordinarily thorough and comprehensive,’ Kerry said.”

That was back in November in a joint statement with U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to Abbott, outlining the resettlement program process.

Well, that’s all fine and dandy, but neither Kerry nor Johnson live in Texas – or outside any community that’s not protected by armed, specially trained law enforcement agents, for that matter.

For the rest of America, there’s this, Reuters reported:

“Since Jan. 1, 2011, there have been 1,104 Syrian refugees resettled in Texas, according to the U.S. State Department-affiliated Refugee Processing Center. That is less than the 1,610 people resettled in California and the 1,515 sent to Michigan. …

“The Obama administration said on Aug. 29 it would meet its goal of admitting 10,000 Syrian refugees during the current fiscal year a month ahead of schedule and was working with Congress to increase the target by a few thousand during 2017.

“U.S. admission of Syrian refugees has been a hot button issue in the 2016 presidential race.

“The civil war in Syria has led to a flood of refugees. The United States has offered refuge to far fewer than many of its allies. Germany has taken in over a million refugees from Syria, North Africa and Asia in the last year, while Canada admitted nearly 30,000 between November last year and May 1.”

Reuters also reported a Texas withdrawal from the program wasn’t likely “impair the work of private relief groups from resettling refugees in the state.”

In other words: Texans are getting refugees, like it or not.

Texas is the only one state that can split from the US and become independent. I wonder if this is going to happen on the refugee issue.

    • traci94

If they split, I want to move there!! This whole issue is total BS! What happened to representative government?? I applaud this governor for having the balls to stand up to Obama!

      • Mal M

Take the Brexit as an example. The UK exit the EU on the issue of immigration. Why it couldn’t be in the US?

    • Honkingoose.

      A TEXIT……

    • Beverly

I doubt, except for doing everything can to not assist with the refugee resettlement, Texas will do anything until after the election and, if Trump wins, the State will wait to see what Trump will do.

  • Mahou Shoujo

If there are private citizens and groups that are willing to pay for the colonists, and take responsibility for there compliance with the law, they can declare it and have it legally documented, they will regret it, but at least it will not be another liability on the tax payer. Those wishing to do good, will do so personally, not in the democrat fashion of what the democrats want, everyone pays for, what democrats don’t want no one can have.

    • Ron Cole

Teddy Roosevelt in his last speech agrees with you Mam.

“But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an
American and nothing but an American. If he tries to keep segregated
with men of his own origin and separated from the rest of America, then
he isn’t doing his part as an American. There can be no divided
allegiance here. . . We have room for but one language here, and that is
the English language, for we intend to see that the crucible turns our
people out as Americans, of American nationality, and not as dwellers in
a polyglot boarding-house; and we have room for but one soul loyalty,
and that is loyalty to the American people.”

Amen Mr. President – One of the last American presidents.

      • Honkingoose.

A beautiful, noble and highly laudable quote. That’s just how I see things too….to hell with that ‘diversity is our strength’ bs, UNITY is our strength it’s divided we fall!

  • Ron Cole

The rest of American Christian Conservatives should force their Legislatures to pass Article V – The Convention of States.

Kudos to Texas, Texicans, and Governor Greg Abbot for their Patriotism to the Constitution and sanity.

    • Dr. Doomsday

Article V has been passed, it’s law. What we need is the convention!

      • Ron Cole

I stand well corrected. What I meant was that we should enact it and move forward.

First Priority after The Revolution and Restoration:
Strict one Term Limits on elected and appointed Gutter`mint
        public servants.

That should include the President, Court of Supremacist, Congress,
and the Dictators in charge of all Ministries*.

        * ministries: The majority mob of current Gummit`eers prefer Ministry to the out of date uncool American designations of Agencies and Departments. It sound like a Ruskie or Chi-com term.

  • Christine Roy

We need to get to the bottom of these “relief agencies” and expose them. How much money are they making off of the importation of these Muslims? And where is this money going? Let’s “out” these agencies, and show our disapproval of them as well! Negative publicity – protest at their offices! We do not want these Muslims and need to be more aggressive in our stance. Good job Texas! Let’s support Texas’ stance and rise up against the invasion!

    • Michael Copeland

      They are PAID CONTRACTORS.
See RefugeeResettlementWatch, run by the redoubtable Ann Corcoran.

      • Nan

Amen Michael! Everyone please educate yourself with Ann’s site, as well as the site and works of the Center for Security Policy (Frank Gaffney et al). These contractors make MILLIONS off the backs of the American taxpayers! When I attended a local “let’s get together” feel good meeting hosted by USCCB (US Conference of Catholic Bishops, aka resettlement contracted VOLAG), I rose the question of funding they receive from the US Govt. I had, as proof, purchase orders, grants, etc given to them within the past fiscal year (in just my area for this one office) for resettlement, and it totaled in the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. They could not answer back to this and both the CAIR rep and the local Catholic charity CEO (not affiliated with the church or diocese) went to the back of the room and stood until the meeting ended. Later, I became their target of hatred, which I have dealt with for some time. They do not like this to be exposed so they can keep their little money racket going.

    • katzkiner

Refugee Resettlement Watch reports the numbers.
Most of the executive salaries run a minimum of 1/2 million +.
Many are named after religious denominations but in reality are unattached to the church organization.
The whole program is a scam rip off of taxpayer’s cash.

  • Michael Copeland

Refugees – genuine refugees, that is – are in need of reception and assistance.
After due help, and when the war is over, they can return to their countries.
Notice how the US program is entitled “Refugee Resettlement”. Without anyone being consulted the “refugees” are immediately decided to be “resettled”.
    Why? No-one was asked.
The process is dressed up as humanitarian.
The real intention is invasion and cultural destruction – “fundamental change”.

    • Honkingoose.

That’s a bloody excellent point! They’re considered permanent from the get go,
and you can bet there will even be “FAMILY REUNION” plans and entitlements to ‘permanently’ bring Mom, Dad, Brothers Cousins etc to join them here.
Even if it was war they were running from (which in the very great majority of cases it is not) why couldn’t they go home when the war stops?

  • Aaron

The Gulf States have PLENTY of money, land, religious, cultural and language resources to help. We don’t. There is no reason to ship thousands of fighting-age, able-bodied men (mostly) to Europe and America. They need the assistance of their Moslem brothers, not the assistance of “filthy” Jews and Christians. Let them stay in the Middle East and enjoy the riches of Islamic countries. Iran was just given billions. THEY can help their own. They can bear the risk of violence that their own religion promotes.

    NO Moslem Immigration.

    Trump 2016

    • Craig

Rat obama has stated that the U.S. has never had wars or famine, so he is making it a priority to make sure America has some wars and major trouble. The democrats claim ANYONE from ANYWHERE has a RIGHT to come to the U.S. and we must support them.
When THEY come HERE, HERE becomes THERE. They do not want to become Americans, they want a shariah America. If only Americans had some guts…

    • Honkingoose.

The Saudis say flat out that (get this!) “There are many terrorists among them and Syrians wouldn’t fit in here”

Okaaay!? So if they wouldn’t fit in with a muslim, arabic speaking country then why should the US, UK, Australia, Canada etc be expected to be any better? and why should WE be expected to accept the terrorists amongst them?

  • Craig

Time for the militia to make fertilizer out of the syrian muzzie trash.

    • Dorrie

Yeah you talk big, just like you try to ridicule conservative women on these threads. I bet you were a real bully in 8th grade…

  • Annie Pickett

I wouldn’t mind so much if only the Syrian Christians are bought in – the few that are still alive. Obviously there is no such thing as a Syrian Jew as they were wiped out long ago.

    • IzlamIsTyranny

I met a Syrian Jewish family about 15 years ago in my ACT for America chapter — they stood up and protested the concept of “moderate” muslums that the leadership of my particular chapter was promulgating. Their entire family had suffered literally generations of persecution at the hands of the muslums in Syria — incl. both Assads (i.e. the elder Assad and his son, Bashar). They had finally left Syria lock, stock and barrel only months ahead of the Arabpig Spring.

  • itchy

obumma doing what his globalist jesuits elites ordering him to do. Good on Texas for flipping off the turd

  • lagitane

ODumbo: resettle these people in countries they would be much more welcome and comfortable in. Try sending them to Chechnya or one of the Stans. If you played nicer with Putin, perhaps you could get a Chechen deal together. Why must the west take them in at the expense of the taxpayer?

  • Bill Farris

If Abbot put out the call, he would have 1,000,000 Texas Militiamen guarding our borders tomorrow, and stopping the feds by force, if necessary. It’s time Texas and other rational states put an end to this insanity, and nullify this federal government, even if it requires a second War of Northern Aggression to do so. Just sayin’

  • a6z

Good luck to Texas. The Federals whoop’ed ’em once, and (I regret to say) they would jump at the chance to do it again. Obama doesn’t have to run for re-election, and Hilary isn’t going to carry Texas anyway.

  • barrydonnelly

At the same time that the Canadian Economy takes a turn for the worse The liberals bring in 30,000 refugees . Two weeks ago Calgary Alberta once one of the most prosperous cities in Canada had one of the the highest unemployment rates in Canada . The good news is that there is now hundreds and thousands of Angry Canadians , especially out west . We want Harper back ! and Premier Kline too !!!

  • Honkingoose.

    TEXAS Governor GREG ABBOTT said
“…. Texas will not be an accomplice to such dereliction of duty to the American people.’

He sounds like he deserves a great deal of respect for sending Muhobama THE BIRD, (and I think it was a BALD EAGLE!)

    • Honkingoose.

I like to think of the Bald Eagle as the Honkingoose’s close cousin.

  • Obama IS-A-POS

What took them so long to opt-out? And why haven’t all other states done so? My state has a worthless stooge of the international bankers & globalists (Kasich), so he says SURE, GIVE US MORE TERRORISTS! KEEP THEM COMING!

    • Honkingoose.

Maybe when the other states see what Texas has done they will follow suit.

  • Drew the Infidel

    There is always Gitmo.

  • durabo

I can hardly wait for Texas to secede from the Amerikan Socialist Union, so I can move there with my guns and my dawg!

  • movingwaters

The Syrian civil war, like the Egyptian uprising, did not just happen, but was instigated and supported by the globalists puppets like Hillary, Obama, Kerry, the CIA, and other members of NATO. They did that to benefit their masters. They put off all the responsibility, expense, rape, bloodshed, and social chaos off upon the regular citizens whom they despise. They know full well that these people usually cannot be vetted, fake Syrian passports are readily available, and they have covertly settled far more people than they talk about. Knowing all these things, I tip my hat to the great state of Texas and to their Governor. Thank God for them.

    • boucle

California and Michigan need a governor with some stones too.
What happened to he Michigan Militia? Who will deal with the muslim training camps in all the states?

      • movingwaters

California is probably too down the toilet. Such a beautiful state, too. Muslim training camps complete with lots of paramilitary training have been here for awhile. The government knows about them. I assumed out own government wants them here to create murder, mayhem and strife; order out of chaos. This regime says the problem is not bombers and beheaders. The problem is regular Americans with traditional American values. We are the threat to them. And I guess that is true. Darkness hates the light.

  • Fhm Maletsky

The solution to this problem is so simple yet we continue to complicate matters.
In 1952 the USA created an immigration law that prevents those who advocate polygamy from immigrating into the USA. It is Public Law 414. All Muslims advocate polygamy. The sharia law advocate polygamy. Sharia law dictates the lives of all Muslims.
    Read this:
Title II – Chapter 2 – Qualifications for admission of aliens; travel control of citizens and aliens
Sec. 212: General Classes of aliens ineligible to receive visas and excluded from admission.
    (a) Except as otherwise provided in this act, the following classes of aliens shall be ineligible to receive visas and shall be excluded from admissions in the United States:
    (11) Aliens who are polygamists or who practice polygamy or advocate the practice of polygamy;
    (31) Any alien who at any time shall have, knowingly and for gain, encouraged, induced, assisted, abetted, or aided any other alien to enter or to try to enter the United States in violation of law,
