Orlando jihadi Omar Mateen allegedly threatened to kill a Florida sheriff’s deputy and his family, yet the FBI did not act upon the threat once it had been reported by the sheriff’s office. And that’s but one in a long line of intel failures.

Nothing they could have done differently?
This was a massive intel failure.
There were innumerable red flags. But if you see something and say something, you will be smeared as an islamophobic-anti-Muslim-bigot.
Here are some of the warning signs about which the FBI could have and should have acted much differently:
— Omar Mateen was the subject of two prior FBI investigations (one was dropped after Mateen after he claimed his co-workers were “Islamophobic”).
— A Florida sheriff said Omar Mateen’s support for the Fort jihad mass murderer “worried cops.”
— ISIS warned us they would attack in Florida.
— Omar Mateen cheered 9/11.
— Omar Mateen pledged allegiance to the Islamic State.
— Omar Mateen was “quite religious.”
— Omar Mateen beat his wife, in accord with the laws of the sharia (Islamic law).
— Omar Mateen traveled to Saudi Arabia… twice.
— Omar Mateen threatened to shoot his classmate at a cookout over over pork meat (haram).
— Omar Mateen “studied” jihad at an “Islamic center” run by a convicted imam who recruited for jihad slaughter.
— Disney reported Mateen and his wife to the authorities for “casing” Disney World and suspicious behavior, but the FBI did nothing, not wanting to appear Islamophobic.
–The owner of a Florida gun shop alerted the FBI that a suspicious Omar Mateen had come in to buy weaponry.Omar Mateen posted to Facebook on June 12, 2016: “I pledge my alliance to abu bakr al Baghdadi..may Allah accept me.” “The real muslims will never accept the filthy ways of the west”; “taste the Islamic state vengeance.” In a final post, Mateen apparently wrote, “In the next few days you will see attacks from the Islamic state in the usa.”
But in spite of all this and more, counterterror analysts and media talking heads are still scratching their heads and wondering why this attack happened. In a New York Times article titled “Why Do Terrorists Commit Terrorism?,” “terrorism expert” Peter Bergen wrote about Omar Mateen that “it’s unlikely that anything will ever really explain why he did what he did.”
Really? Nothing? How about this: Muhammad commanded Muslims to put gays to death. Mateen thought that to kill a large number of gays during Ramadan would get him a great reward from Allah.
But Obama’s FBI wasn’t looking into that as having any kind of connection to a possible terror attack. Instead, FBI Director Comey is “confused” as to jihadi Mateen’s motivations. Why is he confused? Because the Obama administration has purged its counter terror materials and program of any mention of Islam and jihad.
Under Obama, the Department of Homeland Security was prohibited from using words like jihad and sharia. Instead, according to the Daily Caller:
One of the sitting members on the Homeland Security Advisory Council’s (HSAC) Subcommittee on Countering Violent Extremism is a 25-year-old immigrant of Syrian heritage who said that the 9/11 attacks “changed the world for good” and has consistently disparaged America, free speech and white people on social media. Laila Alawa was one of just 15 people tapped to serve on the newly-formed HSAC Subcommittee on Countering Violent Extremism in 2015 — the same year she became an American citizen.
The result?
The subcommittee Alawa serves on instructed the DHS to begin “using American English instead of religious, legal and cultural terms like ‘jihad,’ ‘sharia,’ ‘takfir’ or ‘umma’” when discussing terrorism in order to avoid offending Muslims.
Not only did this Syrian immigrant cheer 9/11; in April 2013 she told me to “go f–k yourself” after I called the Boston bombing jihad. This is who Obama assigns to keep us safe. Who is going to keep us safe from this woman? And she is not alone: another Homeland Security Advisor, Salam al-Marayati, has said that the U.S. is doing Israel’s “dirty work” and blamed Israel for the 9/11 attacks. Salam al-Marayati defends terrorist acts and the groups who carry them out.
It is no surprise, in light of all this, that the ACLU and leftists elites blame the GOP for the jihad slaughter. Because the left in media, academia, entertainment, and the U.S. government treat Muslims like a protected class and deny the Islamic doctrine that inspires and fuels this holy war.
The ghastly death toll is a stunning indictment of Obama’s sharia-compliant “countering violent extremism” policies. Obama now seeks to disarm us and import hundreds of thousands more “believers” after his policies has led to an unprecedented escalation in the war in the homeland. Guns are not the problem. Bombs, knives, suicide vests, machetes, cars… it’s the jihad.
Obama is now completely unmasked (pronounced unmosqued). He is going full-on Muslim, sounding and acting more and more like terror-tied jihad groups (i.e. CAIR, ISNA et al).
As dangerous and frightening as it is, it will be good for us. It is these acts of outrageous sedition, and treason that will get Trump elected.

I call this “Shenanigans.” We are not looking at a failure. We are looking at a conspiracy to hijack this nation. Do not suppose that there was a failure. While the governemnt may not have known specific plans, they deliberately conspired to do nothing about what is obvious. The Dept. of Homeland Security and FBI’s Comey answer to Loretta Lynch and she answers to Obama.
Remember that Obama ran for president after Hillary stepped aside for him. She got a cushy job, and now she has Obama’s blessing in her run for the presidency. Do you wonder why the FBI has not indicted her on the email? This is all a success and they are working on the making of an Islamic friendly country. Why won’t they release the full transcripts of Omar Mateen’s phone call? We have to placate the Saudi’s, and not upset the apple cart.

The left is carving out “religious freedom” rights for Muslims that are novel and never before considered or even observed regarding govt monitoring and interfering with other religions if they advocate anything the incites the believers to violate the rights of others. There is no religious freedom for advocating insurrection or treason. PC contributes to our security failures regarding Muslims but most of all its policies that insist that just for Muslims what they think or believe is sacrosanct and off limits in considering the risk factors and seeking judicial authority to detain them. The Muslim obligation regarding Jihad in itself can be tied to statements of intent and can be used for injunctions and taking away a gun license plus surveillance, as they regularly do with other religions. We don’t need new laws or processes to deal with this domestic threat, all we need to do is remove the special privilege of Muslims created by leftists. When the FBI says that there did all they could do, it is simply not true but the admin has tied their hands and they are not free to talk about it.

Yes and it is entirely PC policies and not a Constitutional restraint that is being applied to Islam alone. There is no Constitutional restraint against anyone inquiring into one’s religious motivations when judging what kind of real threat they pose and taking action against them before they start pulling the trigger. If a Christian organization cited scripture and advocated killing homosexuals, they would be incarcerated in the blink of an eye and there would be no insistence on freedom of religion.

Without question, Obama is responsible for all these attacks after having the likes of the FBI stand down from following up such suspected jihadists like Mateen. In the wake of the Orlando massacre it appears the Islamic apologists are coming out of the gate even stronger to damage Trump’s campaign. Watching those Muslim suck asses on CNN makes me want to puke, the vile negative criticisms launched against Trump, they are no different than their Traitorous Idols, Obama and the Clintons. I do hope Trump wins this election, if he does not, the end is near. America maybe forced into a new Civil War in order for you to keep your freedom within your own borders. Trump is the only hope of saving perhaps the civilized world from the evil that has gripped our nations leaders.

What can one expect when some of the branches of government, you have the muslim brotherhood turning off these switches and our leader turns a blind eye. It’s simple deduction as to why. We, the American voter must vote for those that will actually clean house from top to bottom and ALL garbage is thrown in the incinerator and a new coat of paint to top it off. I wonder when will America, will finally embrace E. Pluribus Unum once again?..for that will be a starting point in defeating those…..people who want us dead, including you liberal! The way these jihadis conduct themselves you don’t have to a trained, experienced, or even minimally schooled intel agent to decipher how this works. These murderers will blatantly threaten what their attacks will be and then boast about and take credit only for theirs and no one else’s acts. This is their history and pattern. Philip Haney who worked for the intelligence agency has a book out “See Something, Say Nothing” in which he explains, because of the removal of these materials, the FBI can no longer connect the dots. Mr. Haney spoke with Michelle Bachman when she was in Congress, Representative Louie Gohmert, and others re. this problem. They both listened but when they tried to warn Congress, no one would listen. Obama has tied the FBI’s hands when it comes to connecting the dots.

Beverly, I wouldn’t want to say that purging the training materials has had no effect. But I think it greatly overstates the situation to say that the FBI can no longer connect the dots. They still have their investigative tools intact and agents in the field are well aware of the threat of jihad. However, in the longer run, sweeping the ideological foundations under the rug can only damage counter terrorism efforts.

The FBI makes its excuses, but is largely responsible. It costs virtually nothing to keep suspects names, dormant, on its database. Then when the Islamist tries to buy arms, an alert is triggered, the purchase is blocked and the case is reactivated…

Hardly that simple.
You may recall Republicans have opposed giving those on terrorist watch lists special attention when they try to buy guns (that opposition seems to have diminished in the wake of Orlando). Yours is a classic example of the simplistic thinking that is so common on this board.
Although I consider myself a supporter of the Second Ammendment, I do not believe that everyone should have the right to own a gun.
It would be interesting to have AG Lynch respond to questions about whether the FBI improperly closed out its investigation of Mateen. And were they following DoJ’s guidance when they did so, and does that guidance need to be changed? I’m sure we will be given clear answers the the next time Pamela is invited to one of Lynch’s press conferences (yes, yes, I know, she doesn’t really need an invitation, she just needs her press pass, that has most unfortunately and inexplicably been held up, to be issued).

There is nothing the FBI could have done differently under the current politically correct restrictions imposed on them by Obama and his administration. Every word referencing Muslims including sharia, jihad, Islamist etc etc. has been scrubbed from the FBI training manuals and its ability to ask questions during investigations. The intelligence failure belongs to Obama and his policy failures. The question is why isn’t the FBI defending itself against the accusations that they failed?

The FBI has prevented numerous mass attacks- or stopped mass-murderer wannabess- before they could happen. They will never get them all.
One useful tool in law enforcement’s arsenal- one that Pamela opposes- is bulk collection of telephone phone metadata.

It wasn’t the intel but the failure to do anything except collect it. Everyone went through the motions but then failed to take any further steps and that is what the terrorists are learning. Nothing happens until after a terrorist act has succeeded. Further, this administration is inviting and distributing future jihadiis all over the country. War has been declared on the citizens of this country by the political class of this country.

What is wrong with Loretta Lynch & the administration? It’s a rhetorical question. The jihadist, Mateem, said he was killing the name ISIS & now these pacifist SOB’s want to delete any reference to the facts. It was JIHAD, JIHAD, JIHAD. Lynch should not be Attorney General it’s that simple. She is absolutely in collusion with CAIR, ISNA & the rest of anti-American Islamic organizations. HSAC Subcommittee on Countering Violent Extremism is nothing more than another way to stick it to law abiding tax paying Americans. No one has told me what happened in the 2.5 hour “hostage negotiations” that took place. If Mateen “retreated” you attack, you hold them by the nose and kick him in the ass. You hunt him down and kill him thus ending the threat. No quarter. This clown showed no quarter to the victims in the anti gun zone. They say now they had him “cornered in a bathroom”. I say fairy tale. They were out side wringing their hands asking each other what can we do so as not to offend Islam. Just like they trotted that “Mumuman” out during the press conference so he could get his 2 cents in. That we all stand together with the unicorns but I slice your throat when you turn around. It’s biblical is what it is. It does not make since that Europe is falling and we are following the same path. A gay guy I have known since 1973 emailed me and says “I don’t believe anyone should own an assault weapon.” Unfortunately he has scales over his eyes and refuses to see anything past sponge bob square pants. The man is 64 years old. Sad really as I care for him even tho I may disagree with his life style. I have to worry about my own wife, kids and grand kids.
