Hardly reassuring — the deaf leading the blind. San Bernardino is one of the most mismanaged and over-taxed cities in Southern California. They have the money, but they are disarmed in the information battlespace. Until we honestly identify and address the ideology behind this holy war without derision and scorn, we are waiting for the next horror.
“San Bernardino Police Chief: Officers Responding to Terror Attack Were Outgunned,” By Breitbart, March 11, 2016:
San Bernardino police chief Jarrod Burguan said officers responding to the December 2 terror attack carried out by Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik were outgunned and under-equipped.
He suggested that the deficit in firepower and equipment was due to the city’s 2012 bankruptcy.
According to 89.3 KPCC, Burguan said officers responding to the attack were “wearing soft body armor.” And at least one officer, who responded while en route to lunch, arrived on scene wearing no body armor at all. Moreover, the majority of the responding officers carried handguns, while Farook and Malik carried rifles in addition to handguns.
Burguan said that local businesses have now stepped in to fill the financial void. The goal is to raise $300,000. BNSF Railway has already worked with other businesses to raise $126,000 of that.
He plans to “add 100 to 150 AR15 rifles to department’s inventory in addition to hard armor plates and other tools.”
