Devout Muslims attack in Burkina Faso: at least 23 dead in hotel siege

ByPamela Geller on January 16, 2016

Another hotel raided by Muslims who open fire on the unsuspecting guests. At least 23 people are dead. Hostages were seized. The siege went on for hours. Islamic jihadists seem to be acting with complete impunity all over the globe. From Paris to San Bernardino to Chattanooga to Garland to Jakarta to Ouagadougou, it’s all the same jihad — and all the same denial from the authorities.

“Burkina Faso attack: Dozens freed, at least 23 dead in hotel siege,” by Faith Karimi and Sandra Betsis, CNN, January 16, 2016:

(CNN)Attackers raided a luxury hotel in Burkina Faso overnight, opening fire and seizing hostages in an hours-long siege that ended with at least 23 people dead.

An al Qaeda-linked terrorist group claimed responsibility for the assault at Splendid Hotel — a popular meeting place for Western diplomats in the capital, Ouagadougou.

The attack began Friday night and dragged on under the cover of darkness. Security forces circled the perimeter to assess the situation before they stormed in hours later.

“Everyone was panicked and was lying down on the floor. There was blood everywhere, they were shooting at people at point blank,” said Yannick Sawadogo, who survived the siege.

Security forces entered the hotel early Saturday and freed 126 hostages, half of whom were hospitalized, said Alpha Barry, the nation’s foreign minister.

The 23 people killed were of 18 nationalities, according to security minister Simon Compaore.

At least four attackers were killed, including two women, he said. It was unclear whether their deaths were included in the figure of 23 people killed.

The French Foreign Ministry, whose troops helped in the rescue operation, said 27 people died.

‘We could hear them talking’

Survivors described horrific scenes as the attackers paced and fired in the hotel Friday night.

“We could hear them talking and they were walking around and kept shooting at people who seemed alive,” Sawadogo told CNN affiliate BFMTV.

Sawadogo said he escaped through a broken window, and could barely see because of smoke.

Search for hostages, terrorists

Burkinabe forces scoured rooms at the hotel, looking for terrorists and any remaining hostages. Those rescued included a government minister, state media reported.

The West African nation’s forces received logistical support from American and French troops. Shortly after the forces stormed the hotel, the sounds of gunshots faded.

Hotel popular with diplomats

The attack in Burkina Faso appeared well-planned, with some of the attackers coming to the hotel during the day and mingling with guests, the foreign minister said.

When darkness fell, more attackers joined them, he said.

Before the hotel assault, they attacked the Cappuccino café across the street, which had about 100 people, according to the state broadcaster.

They then took off to the Splendid Hotel, where they seized hostages.

Witnesses said the attackers wore turbans and spoke a language not native to Burkina Faso, a former French colony.

U.S. forces helped with logistical support. The United States has about 75 military personnel in Burkina Faso, including 15 assigned to the U.S. Embassy, according to a U.S. defense official. An additional 60 help train and advise the French military in the nation.

Al Qaeda claims responsibility

Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb claimed responsibility for the assault, local media reported. CNN could not independently confirm that claim.

The al Qaeda-linked Al-Mourabitoun said it conducted the attack, which had similarities to the one in neighboring Mali in November.

Al-Mourabitoun had claimed responsibility for the November attack at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Mali, which left 22 people dead.

The group’s leader is veteran al Qaeda figure Mokhtar Belmokhtar, according to the Mauritania-based Al Akhbar news agency.

In June, Libya’s interim government reported that he died in an American airstrike….

Very poor countries usually have a few (sometimes only one) ‘luxury’ hotel in their capital cities – a natural place to find Westerners investing in the local economy, a few (desperately needed) tourists and international aid ‘dispensers’. The damage these attacks do to 3rd world countries is far-reaching and unspeakably cruel.

In other words the damage is typically Islamic.

Well US special units are in that area in engaging muzzrats in the Maghreb. I believe it is called north African corps or like that. Jesus V Paul

Quotes from the qur’an are not applicable to anything.

    • Steve1952

If you know the background of what Jesus was talking about and what Paul was talking about this isn’t a contradiction. Taking anything out of context is always wrong.

Paul was showing we do not live under the ‘old’ covenant but rather under the ‘new’ covenant that Jesus brought in. We are not under the law but now under grace. For centuries, devout Jews had been operating under the Old, Mosaic Covenant, but now they were being told by Jesus and the apostles that things had changed. In their case, they could not claim to have been uninformed that such a dramatic change was coming. The Old Testament writers had prophesied that a New Covenant was coming, one that was vastly superior to the Old. One such prophet was Jeremiah, (see Jeremiah 31:31-34) and his prophecy is cited by the author of the Book of Hebrews ch. 8

      Hebrews 8:6-10

6 But now has He obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also He (Jesus) is the Mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

7 For if that first covenant(under Moses) had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

8 For finding fault with them, He saith, “Behold, the days come,” says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah—

9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they continued not in My covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: I will put My laws into their minds and write them in their hearts, and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to Me a people.
(I am so thankful that God has given us a ‘new’ covenant because no one could follow the ‘old’ covenant perfectly. Jesus paid the price of our sins which we could never pay for ourselves as Jesus is the new covenant or the new promise.)

      I hope this helps.

      • Leela Kim

How could you believe someone who contradict Jesus own words. Be it Paul or Matthew Henry. Are they greater than Jesus? Btw that Hebrew verses you qoute are not words of Jesus.

But of course if you still want to follow those who contradicted Jesus it’s all up to you.

After all Paul said: Indeed, because it was weak and ineffective, the former commandment has been annulled !

But Jesus has already warned you !

        • Reagan40

Leela, I feel bad for you. Islam is a fraud. Take a step back and engage your mind. Leave Islam before you die in its filth. Allah is not god. Allah is one of the many pantheon of gods worshipped in Mecca before Mohammed was born. Abdallah means slave of Allah. It’s the name of the father of your paedophile prophet. Free yourself from the demonic grip of Islam. Allah is satan because it’s satan that kill steal and destroy. Moslems are doimg the works of satan. Islam is sin. God hates sin and God hates Islam.

          • Leela Kim

Now you’re being ridiculous. and talk about non sense. I like it better when you are sober, dear. In the mean time:

          • Reagan40

            That’s bovine manure!
Anyone who does not accept the basic tenets of Islam should not call themselves a Muslim. If they identify as Muslims then we have to believe that they accept the teachings of the Koran, which is violence – against us. If they do not believe what this pseudo-religion teaches then they should abandon it.

And BTW we have no way of figuring out who is out to harm us BEFORE the act has been committed. Vetting only tells us someone’s past actions not future behavior. It is up to alleged peaceful Muslims to separate themselves from those who take the Koran literally. Meanwhile it is my preference to reject ALL who identify themselves as Muslim, which means that they accept the Koran as it is written.

This is like someone who belongs to the Manson Family, admitting that they belong to the Family but attesting that they do not believe in ALL of the beliefs that Charles Manson has written down.
I know you are used to the filth of Islam by birth but you can still think outside the islamic mindset if you really want to.

          • Leela Kim

This is why many intellectuals, independents in the west embrace Islam. When Muslim scholar talk about religion, they use Quran, Bible, Veda, etc. Just like Zakir Naik. I don’t know what your references are. Pamelageller website or Robert Morey Book? It’s sad.

          • Reagan40

Look leela, I am an academic. I am tired of teaching Moslems the koran. I have got better things to do with my time. Read the koran yourself. It is full of hate speech. Feel free to click on my name and read all my previous posts. Please think for yourself and stop worshipping a paedophile and a bigamist.

          • Leela Kim

Lol, what do you call Abraham or Solomon who had 700 wives (said the Bible)

          • Reagan40

What about Abraham? Is he a paedophile like Mohammed? What about Solomon? Does the wives and concubines of Solomon justify the sex gang of Mohammed? No one considers those characters in the Christian communities as prophets and perfect examples to follow anyway. Christians look up to Jesus Christ. Moslems look up to a thief, a rapist, a bad very bad man and depraved pervert, a crossdresser, a murderer, a plagiarist, some illiterate that had sex with a dead woman…called mohammed as a perfect example of a human being. I will rather worship hitler than Mohammed. Do you understand why you Moslems are said to have mental illness? You are a paedophile worshipper!! Your prophet thighed and ejaculated on a five year old baby. Are you kidding me? It is even worse if you’re a black Moslem because your prophet started slavery. He castrated black men and use them to do his dirty jihad. He used their women as sex slaves. Or how do you explain the curly hair of most Moslems from Northern Nigeria, somalia, Eritrea, Sudan, Ethiopia? How do you explain their skin color? If you can’t think for yourself, leela darling, you need help!!

          • Leela Kim

            Jesus as Christian Example?
Mind you that Jesus is viewed as God by the Christian. Therefore:

If God in OT instructed to kill babies, and assume Jesus is also God even before Abraham, so Jesus instructed to kill babies, women, etc?

Go, now, attack Amalek, and deal with him and all that he has under the ban. Do not spare him, but kill men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and asses

“Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Yes, march against Babylon, the land of rebels, a land that I will judge! Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you,”

If even then you remain hostile toward me and refuse to obey, I will inflict you with seven more disasters for your sins. I will release wild animals that will kill your children and destroy your cattle, so your numbers will dwindle and your roads will be deserted.

Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children.

Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their fathers; Lest they rise and posses the earth, and fill the breadth of the world with tyrants.

“Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the Temple.” So they began by killing the seventy leaders. “Defile the Temple!” the LORD commanded. “Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go!”

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him.

How blessed will be the one who repays you With the recompense with which you have repaid us. How blessed will be the one who seizes and dashes your little ones Against the rock.

They will fall by the sword, Their little ones will be dashed in pieces, And their pregnant women will be ripped open.

“I also will do this unto you… You shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.”

“And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.” —

“And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them.”

“And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend.”

“Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers.”

“I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.”
“This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow. So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him.”

“The hands of the pitiful women have sodden their own children: they were their meat.”

“Who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.”

“Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned. Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed. She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.

And sister, mind you in New Testament there are man passages like these:

            Jesus said in the Bible:
Do you think I came to bring PEACE on earth? NO, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three.

Now, as for those enemies of mine who did not want me to be their king, bring them here and kill them in my presence!

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a SWORD.

If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell

And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell

For I came to set at variance ‘A man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,

“It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs (said Jesus to a gentile women)

            Jesus follower:
I do not allow them to teach or to have authority over men; they must keep quiet.

For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off

The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.

The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows.

All who are forced to serve as slaves should consider their masters worthy of full respect. Then people will not speak evil things against God’s name and against what we teach. Some slaves have masters who are believers. They shouldn’t show their masters disrespect just because they are also believers. Instead, they should serve them even better.

          • IzlamIsTyranny

Dear islam0tard, some of the verses you quoted are not in anyway commandments by Yeshua, but parables (i.e. stories) he was relating.

          • Leela Kim

ANd here are other list from NT, just to show you cherry picker never learn anything from your Bible.

Those who bear bad fruit will be cut down and burned “with unquenchable fire.” 3:10, 12

Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. 5:17

Jesus recommends that to avoid sin we cut off our hands and pluck out our eyes. This advice is given immediately after he says that anyone who looks with lust at any women commits adultery. 5:29-30

Jesus says that most people will go to hell. 7:13-14

Those who fail to bear “good fruit” will be “hewn down, and cast into the fire.” 7:19

“The children of the kingdom [the Jews] shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 8:12

Jesus tells a man who had just lost his father: “Let the dead bury the dead.” 8:21

Jesus sends some devils into a herd of pigs, causing them to run off a cliff and drown in the waters below. 8:32

Cities that neither “receive” the disciples nor “hear” their words will be destroyed by God. It will be worse for them than for Sodom and Gomorrah. And you know what God supposedly did to those poor folks (see Gen 19:24). 10:14-15

Families will be torn apart because of Jesus (this is one of the few “prophecies” in the Bible that has actually come true). “Brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.” 10:21

Jesus says that we should fear God who is willing and “able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” 10:28

Jesus says that he has come to destroy families by making family members hate each other. He has “come not to send peace, but a sword.” 10:34-36

Jesus condemns entire cities to dreadful deaths and to the eternal torment of hell because they didn’t care for his preaching. 11:20-24

Jesus will send his angels to gather up “all that offend” and they “shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” 13:41-42, 50

Jesus is criticized by the Pharisees for not washing his hands before eating. He defends himself by attacking them for not killing disobedient children according to the commandment: “He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.” (See Ex 21:15, Lev 20:9, Dt 21:18-21) So, does Jesus think that children who curse their parents should be killed? It sure sounds like it. 15:4-7

“Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.” 15:13

Jesus advises his followers to mutilate themselves by cutting off their hands and plucking out their eyes. He says it’s better to be “maimed” than to suffer “everlasting fire.” 18:8-9

In the parable of the unforgiving servant, the king threatens to enslave a man and his entire family to pay for a debt. This practice, which was common at the time, seems not to have bothered Jesus very much. The parable ends with this: “So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you.” If you are cruel to others, God will be cruel to you. 18:23-35

“And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors.” 18:34

God is like a rich man who owns a vineyard and rents it to poor farmers. When he sends servants to collect the rent, the tenants beat or kill them. So he sent his son to collect the rent, and they kill him too. Then the owner comes and kills the farmers and rents the vineyard to others. 21:33-41

“Whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.” Whoever falls on “this stone” (Jesus) will be broken, and whomever the stone falls on will be ground into powder. 21:44

In the parable of the marriage feast, the king sends his servants to gather everyone they can find, both bad and good, to come to the wedding feast. One guest didn’t have on his wedding garment, so the king tied him up and “cast him into the outer darkness” where “there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 22:1-14

The end of the world will be signaled by wars, famines, disease, and earthquakes (6-7). And that’s just “the beginning of sorrows” (8). Next believers will be hated and killed by unbelievers (9), believers will hate and betray each other (10), false prophets will fool people (11), iniquity will abound and love wax cold (12). But hey, if you make through all that, you’ll be saved (13).

Only one more thing will happen before the end comes: the gospel will be preached throughout the world (14). Well, that and the abomination of desolations will stand in the holy place (15), many false Christs and false prophets will show great signs and wonders (24), the sun and moon will be darkened and the stars will fall (29), the sign of the son of Man will appear in the sky, everyone on earth will mourn, and then, finally, the great and powerful son of Man will come in all his glory (30).

Oh, and all these things will happen within the lifespan of Jesus’ contemporaries (34).

Or maybe not. Jesus was talking about things he knew nothing about (36). (See Mark 13:32.) 24:3-51

Jesus had no problem with the idea of drowning everyone on earth in the flood. It’ll be just like that when he returns. 24:37

God will come when people least expect him and then he’ll “cut them asunder.” And “there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 24:50-51

The parable of the cruel and unjust master
The kingdom of heaven is like a rich man who distributed his wealth to his servants while he traveled. He gave five talents (a talent was a unit of money, worth about 20 years of a worker’s wages) to one servant, two to another, and one to a third. When he returned, the servant with five talents had made five more, the servant with two made two more, but the servant with one talent only had the talent his master entrusted to him. The master rewarded the servants that invested his money (without his permission — what would have happened if the stock market went down during their master’s travels?) and took the talent from the single-talent servant and gave it to the one with ten talents. “For unto every one that hath shall be given .. but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.” Then the cruel and unjust master cast the servant who carefully protected his master’s talent into the “outer darkness: [where] there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 25:14-30

The servant who kept and returned his master’s talent was cast into the “outer darkness” where there will be “weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 25:30

            Jesus judges the nations. 25:31-46

Who cares? Monogamy is the norm of Judaism and Christianity now.
Your pitiful attempts to defend islam (spit) are here relying on the tired old Tu Quoque fallacy of argumentation.

Saul/Paul (whatever his name was) never even met Yeshua.

      • Pray Hard

Is this relevant to the fight against Islam?

    • Mahou Shoujo

You are a lousy muslim, try and get your lies a little more cohesive.

  • Dave Mc

Awful. It’s so sad for the survivors of all the innocents killed by these cowards. Senseless.

    • Pray Hard

As long as you’re saying it’s senseless, you’re pretending to not understand. It’s Islam and it makes perfect sense to them. Understand that and you will have made progress.

      • Dave Mc

Far better than pretending to grasp everything there is to know on the subject. I can’t begin to approach your posturing in that regard.

The insanity continues in EuropaStan. Holland arrests Dutch soldier suspected of killing ISIS gunmen in Syria!

Anyone killing an ISIS cockroach is doing this in self defense especially in combat. This is no different than an Israeli pilot during a preemptive strike on the fist day of the 6-Day War!

Yet Holland is fully in acceptance of medical-mercy-killing.

I just want you all to know that everybody in every single room in Philadelphia, Hell everybody! in the entire city of Philadelphia believes this has nothing to do with Islam or Muslims.
    So don’t worry about it.

The primitive, inbred followers of the 7th century pedophile death-cult will continue mercilessly killing and raping members of modern society until we cleanse the Earth of them. First, we must elect a loyal adult American to the Whitehouse.

I talk to a lady at my gym who is from Persia (Iran) and she describes life there as really terrifying. Her father has been in prison and friends and families have been hassled by the religious police. People are always watching you. She loves Canada and our freedoms. Her older relatives wanted the Ayatollah and the Shah gone but totallly regret that now that hard line islam is in charge. Be careful what you wish for.

Love to hear from some resident progressives if they still support bringing 50,000 muslims here as we see islamic violence and death creeping closer each day. How would our Liberal ladies feel about 5-7 muslim lads piling on you and ripping your clothes off while they rape you? Its happening across Europe so this is not impossible to happen here. Don’t count on our police to protect you, they didn’t during the G20 and other events, so you will be on your own.

A Crescent News Network news story about islamic terrorism — with no mention of muslums or islam (spit). Why am I not surprised?
