New York Times SUPPORTS AFDI Free Speech Rights #PigFlyingMoment

33

The recent ruling by Judge McMahon to allow political ads by Muslims, but not our political ads, has proven our very point. The government cannot pick and choose what political messages it will or will not support. That’s Venezuela, not America.

Sharia Judge Colleen McMahon Rules Muslims Get Special Privileges

The New York Times has weighed in and come out unequivocally in support of our ads and our First Amendment rights.

Story continues below advertisement

“The answer to distasteful and uncivil speech is more, and more civilized, speech.” The ban on any speech criticizing jihad and sharia is in accordance with the blasphemy laws under the sharia (you cannot criticize Islam.) The MTA is imposing sharia law, whether they know it or not.

The Times is on our side and is urging the MTA to withdraw the ban on our ads. This is an historic fight in the life blood of our freedom — the First Amendment. Whether we can prevail under Red Bill deBlasio is questionable at best. But we won’t stop fighting. Contribute here.

“The M.T.A. Board Should Loosen Up on Advocacy Ads,”

Advertising on subways, buses and commuter trains in the New York City area brings in almost $140 million a year with mostly inoffensive promotions for online grocers or the latest way to store your extra stuff. Yet, one small slice of that much-needed revenue — $1 million a year from political advocacy — has been causing headaches for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which runs the region’s mass transit system.

The M.T.A.’s latest difficulty began last year when its board rejected a harsh ad from the American Freedom Defense Initiative, an anti-Islam group. The ad depicted a man with a scarf across his face with the message “Killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah,” attributed to “Hamas MTV.” The display included the comment, “That’s his Jihad. What’s yours?”

david-yerushalmi-pamela-geller-640x480

After the group sued, Judge John Koeltl of Federal District Court ruled that the ad was protected speech and ordered the M.T.A. to display it. The M.T.A. board responded by voting in April for a flat ban on all advertising that is “political in nature.” That rule promptly gave rise to other concerns. An ad for a bank promoting an increase in the minimum wage was removed because it appeared to touch on a political issue. The M.T.A. board also voted to ban ads created by two Muslim comedians for a film called “The Muslims Are Coming!” The production company sued, and the M.T.A. decision was reversed this month by Judge Colleen McMahon of the Federal District Court in Manhattan, who said that suppressing what was clearly a comedy was “utterly unreasonable.”

Two pieces of advice for the M.T.A. board: First, rather than appeal Judge McMahon’s decision, run the comedians’ ad. Second, roll back the April ban on ads with political messages and reinstate the standard that was adopted in 2012. That standard permitted the display of “a wide variety of communications … that express viewpoints on matters of public concern.” As the board noted at the time, “the answer to distasteful and uncivil speech is more, and more civilized, speech.”

Adam Lisberg, a spokesman for the M.T.A., said that on the matter of provocative ads, “we’re damned if we do, and damned if we don’t.” The wise course would be to follow the advice of Christopher Dunn, associate legal director for the New York Civil Liberties Union, who has argued repeatedly that New York’s public transit system is akin to a “public square,” and that the agency should “put the political ads back up, and when things get controversial, that’s life.”

The ad from the American Freedom Defense Initiative was indeed offensive and similar ads have been banned in other cities’ transit systems. But this kind splenetic speech should be allowed and countered openly with more speech.

Pamela Geller is doing the right thing as in informing the public about the threats s and violent teaching of Islam with it’s vicious and violent militant jihad which poses a danger to America as well as other countries of the West. All this righteous action takes both conviction and fortitude. These two important virtues were elaborated by Thomas Jefferson who had stated things well when he said ” A conviction that we are in the right accomplishes half the difficulties of correction wrong.” and “Fortitude…teaches us to meet and surmount difficulties; not to fly from them.”

I advise anyone not to listen to debaters on absolute right and wrong as no one person or country is perfect but just make a decision based on common sense. The problem with the West is that we are still in a sort of cognitive dissonance but it is passing as people are beginning to really understand the nature of this enemy and that we are going to have to throw down with them if we are to survive.

Miss Pamela Geller is certainly right but she is not saying anything new.
Now via the internet is becomes more open but the information was already there for a long time. Then you had to go to the better bookshops and that meant some reading. The internet will serve as the down fall of Islam and they know it.

You (NYT) must replace the following:

The answer to distasteful and uncivil speech

with this:

The answer to speech opposed by government censors

The answer is the prohibition on government acting as the arbiter of allowable speech, as enshrined by the First Amendment.

NYT is still deploying a passive aggressive attack by invoking the words distasteful and uncivil as a distraction from the real evil here of government censorship, which needs no such qualifiers. (You are the evil one but I defend your right to spout evil.)

A genocidal Muslim acting in the name of Allah and in conformance with leading Islamic authorities would of course be “offended” by any form of resistance. That they should find this resistance offensive is itself reason enough to exclude them from the land of the free.

I cannot see what is offensive about Pamela’s ad.

The only people who find it offensive are those who are trying to hide the very statements that Pamela is exposing. Hamas is on record just this week encouraging the knifing of civilian Jews.

Hamas is offensive. The NYTimes apologetics are ridiculous.

What pdxnag is saying is that muzloids bent on jihad – violent or otherwise – are “offended” at the resistance to jihad. The others who take “offense” at the resistance to jihad are izlam’s paid wh0res in academia, the enemedia, and in government.

Pamela is one of the few people who understands the basics of psychological warfare. Intellectual arguments will not convince the man in the street. You have to fascinate him in roughly 9 seconds and drive the point home.

The Musloid Brute was originally Grant Hamilton’s Spanish Brute, which whipped up enough hatred to start the Spanish-American War.

Pam,

There are times we fight the fight through court

And then there are times we fight the fight using the guerilla tactics

They do not want your ads? Fine

Get some bright projectors and shine your ads (not only the static ones, but also whort video clips, et al) on the walls on subway stations, on the walls of bus terminals, on MTA buildings, and so on, and so forth

You can even organize ‘evening gatherings’ to invite people to watch your video ads when you shine them on walls belong to MTA, or even walls of the city council buildings!

There are so many urban guerilla media tactics are available online, Pam. Search for them and use those which are appropriate to get your message across !

Yes, Creativity! Make fliers and print them by the thousands cheaply but effectively and spread the news about the violent cult. Boycott dhimmicratwood progresdive media in general except for comedy breaks and as far as acadumbia at least send your kids to a school that’s not known for its progressive brainwashing. Teach your kids and teach your parents to critically think and expect the same from your local politicians, leaders and clergy or kick them out of office. Don’t go out without a fight! Throwdown is coming!

great idea horrible execution, visual propaganda has to be to the point, with visuals grasping the message and a single slogan or no words at all, you need to procure great graphic artist to deliver, those presented are convoluted, amateurish, and they should be groundbreaking, to shock and grab the attention (check out old polish school of movie posters)

I disagree. Those are movie posters. Easily ignored. These ads have actual content. Not just emotional jabs. Your idea would easily be dismissed as “islamophobic”. These ads have to contain enough verbal information to hold themselves up to scrutiny. That’s why they have “words”. They aren’t amateurish at all when you consider the stakes of the game and the opponents we are dealing with.

Those in the media and in elective office who see fit to criticize Pamela for expressing her views need to be reminded that the constitutional liberties that allow her to express those views are the very same liberties that allow the media and elective offices to even exist in the first place.

Professional muslims will always profess to being offended by anything the rest of us do. If Pamela Geller asked to advertise ice cream on the side of NY buses, some imam would dream up a reason to complain and a riot would duly erupt, five months later, in Bangladesh.

The angry foot-soldiers of islam are so stupid that they have to be told what they are supposed to be enraged about. As far as muslims are concerned, it makes no difference whether or not a thing is true. Remember the Jullands-Posten cartoons? Of course, we do, but why? Because, even though nobody outside a small portion of Denmark would ever otherwise have seen the cartoons, the islamic grievance-mongers publicised the cartoons on every continent (probably even the Emperor Penguins got bored stiff with them) and ensured that as many thugs as possible were “aggrieved” by them. Just to be on the safe side (something conveniently ignored by islam’s apologists) muslims added a few cartoons to inflame them some more. Then they killed people for publishing the pictures which they had done more than anyone to publish.

I have a great memory for Roman emperors, but I’m useless at street names and national flags. Norway’s flag and Denmark’s always get me confused: one red on white and one white on red, or vice versa… whatever. Stroke of luck all of those flag-weavers in Peshawar had no such problem, though, isn’t it? Must be so embarrassing, to turn up at the weekly flag-burning with the flag of the wrong Scandinavian monarchy (I’m pretty certain I’ve stolen that line from Mark Steyn, but it’s worth repeating).

Grievance culture is central to islam and we must never fall for it. Definitions of things in islam bear no resemblance to those in the civilised world. “Blasphemy” and “terrorism”, for instance, have quite different meanings for muslims. Whichever images we use, whatever our choice of words, muslims will always affect to be offended and we must always defy them.

I am having a hard time finding reconciling the books…freedom of speech and freedom of religion allows a highschool girl to sit during the national anthem. Her protest is supported by the courts. Because of this, there is no way to assure allegiance to our country from Islamic militants. I believe the limits on religious freedom and freedom of speech should END at national allegiance to your country and ITS LAWS.
