That was a leftover from WWI. The Ottoman Empire fought on the side of the Kaisar, and that was the exact reason the Empire was broken up into individual states. Since about 1920, when the Muslim Brotherhood wrote a book of their intentions, they have been aiming to re-establish the Caliphate. Much of the unrest in Islam today is from different sects trying to establish the new Caliphate, with themselves in charge, of course, instead of the Turks. 🙂

BTW, in recent years, many world leaders have been conned into believing that the Muslim Brotherhood is just a Muslim think tank, where Islamic scholars sit around and debate the Koran. raped by Muslims & torture the Hindu women started this practice of burning into the pyre of husband. This was started by Hindu women to save their satitva (dedication to their husband) and save them self from being raped by Moslm soldiers not a part of Hinduism. So you will find this practice mostly followed during 12th to 18th Century in few parts of the country where islm ruled.
