The NY Daily News has an objective and fair piece of reporting on our new free speech campaign submitted to run on Washington, DC buses. Yes, that Daily News, notorious for its smear pieces against counter-jihad initiatives.

Pig-flying moment.

Free-speech firebrand Pamela Geller has submitted an ad to the Washington, D.C. transit authority featuring the winning image from the “Draw Muhammad” cartoon contest held earlier this month in Garland, Texas.

“Drawing Muhammad is not illegal under American law, but only under Islamic law,” Geller, the 56-year-old head of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, said in a statement posted to Breitbart.com. “Violence that arises over the cartoons is solely the responsibility of the Islamic jihadists who perpetrate it. Either America will stand now against attempts to suppress the freedom of speech by violence, or will submit and give the violent the signal that we can be silenced by threats and murder.

“We cannot submit to the assassin’s veto.”

The ad campaign features the winning cartoon, which depicts a bearded, turban-wearing Muhammad wielding a sword as he growls,” You can’t draw me!”

A voice bubble coming from the direction of the cartoonist reads, “That’s why I draw you.”

The D.C. ad campaign features the winning cartoon, below the message, “Support Free Speech,” written in all caps in red coloring. Geller wants the images to “run on buses and train dioramas in the Foggy Bottom, Capitol South, Bethesda, L’Enfant Plaza, and Shady Grove Stations.”

A WMATA spokesman said the agency received the ad on Friday and it is “currently under our standard review process.”

“I have no indication of the outcome at this point,” spokesman Mike Tolbert told the Daily News.

Muslims consider any depiction of the Prophet Muhammad, cartoonish or not, to be supremely disrespectful and offensive.

The artist, Bosch Fawstin, won $10,000 prize for winning the contest.

The May 3 event at a suburban Dallas community center was just coming to a close when two self-avowed jihadists, Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi, pulled up and opened fire on security guards patrolling the parking lot.

The two men, roommates who drove from Phoenix, Ariz., intending to attack the event, were both killed in the ensuing shootout. A security guard suffered minor wounds, but no one else was reported injured.

The shooting in Garland came after the "Draw Muhammad" cartoon event, which awarded $10,000 to artist Bosch Fawstin for his depiction. REX CURRY/REUTERS The shooting in Garland came after the “Draw Muhammad” cartoon event, which awarded $10,000 to artist Bosch Fawstin for his depiction.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, though experts believe the duo was influenced, not directed, by the terror group.

Organizers, including Geller – who has become a lightning rod for critics who think she promotes anti-Islam views – knew they’d be targeted but refused to back down.

“This threat illustrates the savagery and barbarism of the Islamic State,” Geller told the Daily News in a statement she later posted on her website.”They want me dead for violating Sharia blasphemy laws. What remains to be seen is whether the free world will finally wake up and stand for the freedom of speech, or instead kowtow to this evil and continue to denounce me.”

The WMATA’s guidelines for commercial and public service advertising are available here.

Geller took to blogging after the 9/11 attacks and gained notoriety for her opposition to the controversial “Ground Zero Mosque.”

She recently fought the MTA over her right to post public transit ads featuring a man in a Middle Eastern headdress with the quote, “Killing Jews is worship that draws us closer to Allah,” and the tagline, “That’s his jihad. What’s yours?”

Geller previously bankrolled bus ads in Washington, D.C., that featured photos of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler talking with a Muslim leader beside the message “Islamic Jew-hatred: It’s in the Quran.” In San Francisco, her group ran ads showing American Journalist James Foley moments before he was beheaded by ISIS terrorists last year.

I was at the event at Garland, TX; no one was talking about killing or even harming/hating Muslims. Most of the Liberals and the media cannot wrap themselves around the big picture of what happened in Garland (but instead are focusing on the organizers of the event); these two Jihadist were here…on American soil…waiting for a “target.” How many more out there are waiting for “a target?” How many? The Liberals can’t seem to grasp this fact; if you are not a Moslem, then you are an enemy of Islam and a potential “target.” That “target” could have just as easily been a “gay pride” parade. Being Liberal does not make you immune to a Jihadist attack.

The question is how do we get the liberals to understand your last sentence or in fact any of your comment?

Exactly correct. Liberals are just cowards who rationalize their cowardice as discretion or respect for Islam, which has zero respect for them in return.

I wonder if there were any muslims attending the event who informed the jihadis outside of when the event was over? After all, the jihadis outside weren’t just standing around all day waiting for the event to end were they? How did the jihadis know when the event ended?

Very intriguing question.

But the event did end on time, according to a pre-announced schedule, so they could have just been going by that.

Attacking as it was getting out could be seen as a clever way to kill attendees without having to get in the building.

But police have stated that the jihadis were trying to get in the building. If they had gotten past the security cordon and entered the auditorium, they could have killed more people if it were still full than if some had already left.

So perhaps they attacked just as it was getting out, but while most were still in the venue, in order to take advantage of a straggling line of human shields around the building entrance and throughout the parking lot.

The presence of legitimate attendees in motion around the area may have complicated identification and targeting of the bad guys by the police in a way that would not have happened while the event was still going on inside. (During the event, everyone I could see had attention riveted on the speakers, and I didn’t see anyone leave.)

Covadonga, it seems to me that if the muslim-nazis had done a little more planning and/or recon work, they could’ve killed a lot of people. It would be interesting to find out just exactly what the FIB knew and when they knew about it WRT the Garland, TX islamic terrorist attack.

Problem is we are not having an adult discussion about freedom of speech to look at both sides of the coin. How do we feel abut the printing of Mien Kampf in Arabic in the UK where mostly Muslims buy this book as it is in Arabic, is this a good thing! I don’t like the idea of banning books but do we have to draw the line in the sand when a group come out with a book that is truly hateful and then complain about adds that just tell the truth even if it hurts. But we need a more open honest debate, and the ramifications we we ban some speech and not others.

Yes, that’s the college trick the Muslims use at most schools.

Britain and Europe would both be in much better shape now if Mein Kampf, the Communist Manifesto, the Qur’an, and the Sira (official biography of Muhammad, one of the holy scriptures of Islam) had all been taught consistently in the public high schools of each country ever since WWII.

The Communists would not be able to put across their big lie that Naziism was some sort of “extreme right-wing” movement opposite to Bolshevism and close to the American Tea Party if it were widely known how similar Naziism (short for “National Socialism”) and Bolshevism (a.k.a. International Socialism) are to each other.

Likewise, Islam would be a non-starter if everyone knew exactly how bloody it is in it own words.

Banning the documents of depravity serves in the long run only to protect the reputations of the depraved.

I’m sure Islamic propaganda is all that’s taught in US public schools as well as institutions of “higher” learning.

They sell an Arabic version of Mein Kampf in the UK, this is a must read for Muslims. You can buy it at most news stands in the Muslim controlled areas. Any thing they learn from this book wont be good as it is not taught in an environment that encourages critical thinking.

BRAVO Pamela Geller! The idiot jihadists must learn that Americans will not be BULLIED into giving up our freedom of speech and submitting to their barbaric Sharia – no matter how many aspiring jihadist mass-murderers we need to eliminate before they give up their futile fanaticism!

I would say it is OK to show the Muhammad cartoon in public (if not necessary to fight Islamization), but I’m a bit skeptical to the idea of using buses , which seem to be too easy for terrorists to target. Maybe billboards might be better ? (with less risk) No need to give the terrorists an opportunity to kill more Americans, and create a victory for them. Besides billboards, the cartoon could run in more secured places like office building lobbies, posted on trees, etc.

It’s a victory for the muslim-nazis whenever they can stop someone from publicly criticising their antisemitic religion of death.

Whatever the WMATA’s guidelines are for commercial and political advertising aren’t as important as what the 1st amendment guarantees, being a public agency they can’t use one to trump the other.
