“Solea” (Sketches Of Spain, 1960)

The soundtrack to a movie that’s yet to be made, Miles’s foray into the Spanish interior includes stunning versions of classical composers Rodrigo’s “Concierto De Aranjuez” and Gil Evans’ “Solea”; the former is arguably the most successful jazz treatment of any European classical work, while the latter is simply one of the most beautiful things Miles ever recorded.

    B. B. King, Defining Bluesman for Generations, Dies at 89

    By TIM WEINERMAY 15, 2015

    B. B. King, whose world-weary voice and wailing guitar lifted him from the cotton fields of Mississippi to a global stage and the apex of American blues, died on Thursday at his home in Las Vegas. He was 89.

John Fudenberg, the coroner of Clark County, Nev., said the cause was a series of small strokes attributable to Type 2 diabetes, The Associated Press reported. Mr. King, who was in hospice care, had been in poor health but had continued to perform until October, when he canceled a tour, citing dehydration and exhaustion stemming from the diabetes.

    1. Northampton Police report finding a man’s body in the River Nene, near Becket’s Park. The dead man’s name will not be released until his family has been notified. The victim apparently drowned due to excessive beer consumption.

He was wearing black fishnet stockings, a red garter belt, a pink G-string, a strap-on dildo, purple lipstick, and had ‘Milliband for PM’ on his T-shirt. He also had a cucumber stuffed up his rectum.

The police removed the Ed Milliband T-shirt to spare his family any unnecessary embarrassment.

    2. The puzzled blonde kept looking at him and his bulging pockets. Finally, after many glances from her, he said “Its golf balls”. The blonde continued to look at him for a very long time, thinking deeply about what he had said. After several minutes, not being able to contain her curiosity any longer, she asked:

“Does it hurt as much as tennis elbow?”

    3. My cousin just graduated from bakery school. He past with flying crullers.

    4. My uncle fishing boat, just for the halibut.

    5. Seems an elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of years.

He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%. The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, “Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased you can hear again.”

To which the gentleman said, “Oh, I haven’t told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations.

I’ve changed my will five times!”

The Davis/Evans axis was truly potent. I adore “Sketches” but “Porgy & bess” can make me cry . Like that.
thought I would share a pic of one of my “Sketches of Spain” copies… it looks like it has seen too many parties and spent too log in a damp box in some derelict garage or basement. Its a mono pressing AND deep groove. It was given to me by a record shop worker who sneered that it was not worth cleaning the lp because the cover is so shot … it is unsaleable. Cleaned the vinyl in my laundry , Ol Clem’s Guaranteed 100% Foolproof LP Cleaning Process. The lp came up pretty nice, visually , but I swear it is one of the quietest lip’s I own it plays beautifully.

Oh, Mme Geller… I have never travelled outside my country (Australia) but there are two places I do intend to visit in about a years time : I want to go to Central Park in the Spring and I also want to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge. I expect the moderator of this disreputable blog to accompany me for either of those excursions.

It sounds like obama was under pressure from his top national security team to go ahead with this new ISIS raid so he had no choice but then tipped off the real target so we came away with only some schlep who they’re now touting as important.
