The Dallas Morning News framed it this way:

For the second time this year, free speech and religious liberties are colliding at Garland ISD’s Curtis Culwell Center.

Religious liberties? How cynical. Religious liberty to silence free speech and impose draconian sharia speech restrictions on non-Muslims? The word liberty in describing supremacism is monstrously Orwellian.

Opponents say the American Freedom Defense Initiative’s Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest on Sunday will be an attack on Islam.

How is free speech an attack on Islam? And why are they portrayed as the victim when we are the victims of supremacism and jihad?

But its organizers, who booked the event after a controversial pro-Islamic event used the center in January, say they are simply exercising their right of expression.

The contest, which is offering a top prize of $10,000, has received about 350 entries depicting Muhammad. But caricatures of the Islamic prophet are considered offensive by many Muslims.

In January, a French newspaper that published such cartoons was attacked by terrorists and 12 people died.

In January, a French newspaper that published such cartoons was attacked by terrorists and 12 people died.

As part of its contract with the district, the American Freedom Defense Initiative has paid $10,000 for extra security — nearly $50 for each of about 200 tickets that have been purchased so far. That cost doesn’t include private security the group is employing.

“It does speak to the world at large that we have to have this intense security around this art exhibit,” organizer Pamela Geller said in February. “That’s all it is … an art exhibit and a cartoon contest.”

Geller’s New York-based group booked the Curtis Culwell Center after it was the location for Sound Vision Foundation’s Stand With the Prophet in Honor and Respect event.

That pro-Islamic program drew hundreds [sic – we were thousands] of protesters in January.

Texas rally

Some critics complained that the school district should not have permitted the event, but officials said they were required to follow a nondiscriminatory leasing policy.

“Critics” “opposition” — Gd forbid the media talks about Americans who actually support free speech.

To combat this blatant Islamophobia, CAIR will come along and organize another ‘Stand with the Prophet’ event. They’ll be distributing pictures of 9 year old girls.

    Allahu Akhbar!!!

Yo MoFo You old Pedo prophet man , the next time the MSA/Al Quida/CAIR meets in Garland. Will Melissa Cutler of FOX 4 news perform FELLATIO on your entire group or just a select few followers of the Pedo Prophet?. And when will she be told to bring her daughters for some FGM and pedo fun? And last but not least when will she earn her plaque for jihad collaberation and back-stabbing America?

  • hurricanepaul

This is what Freedom of Speech looks like.

    • QueenBisback

Looks Fat and Stupid to me….but that’s TexASS.

      • Tallulahdahling

Most of the people at that meeting were cartoonists who came from all over the USA and even some from outside of the US. The venue, Curtis Culwell Center in Garland ,Texas, was chosen because it had been the site of the “Stand with the Prophet” conference held by CAIR last January in response to the Charlie Hebdo massacre. The venue claimed that they wouldn’t play favorites – anyone could rent the venue. So Geller chose that venue. But I don’t think even Geller herself lives in Texas.

This event was not run or even primarily attended by Texans.

        • QueenBisback

There were 200 hundred people there.
          Sure looked local to me.
          Oh–except for the Nutty Scandinavian.

I am very saddened to see so many people talking cruelly against Islam. However it is true, from a legal point of view, that what the 2 gunmen did was wrong. However it is also wrong to make fun of others religion. Muslims don’t go drawing a making fun of Jesus because: 1. He is also one on their Prophets. 2. It is against Muslims to do such a thing Religiously and Morally. You can say all you want about Muslims but doing a contest like what was just done is pretty much like taking it to the next level. However, although the contest was in the name of “Freedom of Speech”. What was the motivation or “true” goal. I believe its because Islam is currently the fastest growing religion so they want to slow that down by making Islam look bad. Whatever you guys think reply below. (I except both hate comments and actual comments) (Also, as a side note, if you wanted peace from the radicals within the Muslim religion, I don’t think insulting a whole religion is going to bring about peace.

      • Demsci

Think about what Pamela and Robert are saying Riyadh; they say that we should “not let intimidation work”.

Look global. Then see that Islam has competitors in religions and lifestyles. In a fair competition between religions-lifestyles all get both praised and supported and smeared, hurt.

Plenty of that going on against Christianity (even if you profess that you won’t do it, that is not as prohibitive as saying that you will kill those who engage in it) and mormons and scientologists and all religions/ lifestyles.

None of the others have members/ followers that react violently. Or if they had, all would throw such out of their group.

And if you wish we can seek evidence that the intimidation of a part of the Muslims works! And criticism/ ridicule of Islam IS indeed withheld, while crticism on all the other religions/ lifestyles is NOT withheld. Certainly not by a part of the Muslims in Islamic countries who themselves criticize/ ridicule/ offend Jews, Westerners, Kuffars to a great extent.

Now if intimidation works in favor of Islam, in its competition with other religions/ lifestyles, then indirect Muslims prophit from that intimidation.

And we could imagine that, heaven forbid, this encourages Mormons, Scientologists, and any other followers of religion conclude from this that, A PART of them also will in future issue intimidation-kill-threats and carry out kill-attacks. And if they did, maybe THAT would finally convince the appeasers.

This would mean that rewarding kill-intimidation by a part of the Muslims by self-censorship would encourage other groups to apply the same tactic. and THAT would increase both intimidation and death-toll.

And when a Muslim in this context is advocating against holding cartoon-contests insulting to Muslims, he could be seen as in fact trying to help curb criticism on Islam, whereas criticism on it’s competitor religions is not curbed. Not even by Muslims in Islamic countries.

I say curb all criticism on everyone or none. Or allow all criticism, including hate, denigration on everyone or none. Whatever you do, do NOT make Islam the exception!!!

        • Riyadh

I will particularly give you one piece of advise since your are so sure of you position in this debate:

“Verily a night equivalent to three of your nights will come upon people. When it comes, those who engage themselves in worship during the night will recognize it. A person will stand in prayer, read a section of the Quran and then go to sleep. Thereafter, he will wake up, stand in prayer and read a section of the Quran, then go to sleep. While this condition remains, the people will begin to shout, scream and call one another. They will say, “What is this?” With fear, they will run to the mosque. To their surprise, they will see that the sun has risen from the West. When it reaches the middle of the sky, it will return and set in the West.” He said صلى الله عليه وسلم , “That is when becoming a believer (in Islam after witnessing this Sign) will no longer be of benefit (because after the sun rises from the West, Allah will no longer accept declarations of faith ).”

And they are only beginning to realize the truth:

          http://www.siasat.com/english/news/nasa-confirms-possibility-sun-rising-west

So continue with your pointless argument (including Pamela and Robert) as you can see I have nothing to fear. I know what will happen and while I will smile at the realization that the day of judgement is very very close you will panic out of fear and confusion. I hope Allah forgives your bad deeds and guides you on the right path Insha’ Allah.

Dont you have any thoughts of your own, or are you totally brainless, and only have a record of the quran between your ears?
Quoting from the ramblings of a superstitious nut case every time anyone makes a comment, is not a comment, its a cop-out!
I would be pleased to read something of your own personal thoughts, if you ever have any that is.
People, misguided people, have been prophesying the end of the world, and judgement day, for the last two thousand years, and guess what? It has never arrived on time!
Yes, the world will end, for some, with earthquakes, storms, volcanoes, and any number of other earthly happenings, that have been happening for millions of years, and will continue for more millions of years. Prophesying them with no specific time or date is easy.
            Here’s one;
‘There will be an earthquake in the west and people who dont believe in allah will die!’
Wow! I cant be wrong, can I?
May the sun shine upon you and bring you enlightenment!

          • Riyadh

May Allah guide you on the right path my friend.

          • nik

“Allah” is a figment of your distorted imagination, and is incapable of guiding me on any path.
However, be assured, the last “path” on earth I would want to follow is that of a muslim, and my reasons must be obvious.

      • Larry

Riyadh, you think it’s ok to keep our comments to ourselves if speaking up means terrorist will target you?? PAALLLEEZE. You have ZERO comprehension of what freedom means. You don’t bully people with demands to shut up or to stay silent or we cut your head off.. These “offensive” cartoons are nothing more than the tip of the iceberg in a religion of ZERO tolerance. Try building a church in pretty much any moslem country.. Try to be gay and not get tossed off a building for that ‘crime’.. Imagine being a woman and treated like cattle.. Hey how about we change the rules so that all men, are required to wear a burka instead of the women? Would you tolerate such oppressive demands? Hell no you would not. Your religion is of the sword and those that do not submit are targeted.. You are lying to yourself if think all we got to do is stop drawing cartoons.. This is a free country and Islam is not a religion of freedom.. Let the cartoons roll baby.. keep em coming simply because they tell us we can’t do it.. No other reason is necessary.
Deny ANY of these facts if you can.

        • Riyadh

I will not deny your of your freedom. However I will give you a peaceful and yet useful knowledge. All that has happened in the past, now, and in the future is all in the Holy Quran. What is going on now is said in the Holy Quran. I surely wont strap a bomb to my chest like the Shiaa do because im Sunni and Muslims who die a purposeful death (suicide) will not be granted paradise. The hate that the world shows now to Islam was already know by the people who read the Quran hundreds of years ago. Again I will not deny you of your Freedom but nor am I offended by your words. I don’t even need to argue cause I know what the outcome will be in the end. So it doesn’t matter how much you scorn Islam. All though I have done my job and advised you not to. Go ahead, do as you said in your comment, I guarantee that you will regret it one day.

      • nik

“I am very saddened to see so many people talking cruelly against Islam.”

I would be happy to talk cruelly against islam, or any other rampant superstitious group that considers it has any rights over anyone else, regarding what it says, or what it considers others should or should not say, and decides that its perfectly all right to kill anyone who disagrees.
No one can make ‘islam look bad’ it does that for itself, with its antisocial rules, and attitudes to anything, and anyone, outside and inside islam, and has done so over the last 14 centuries.
It is the only religious superstition, that has the edict of ‘KILL THE INFIDEL!’
It is the only religion that preaches that rape, pillaging and murder is perfectly OK as long as the victims are not muslims.
It is the only religion that preaches that the female sex is only worth half the male sex. If the last two people on earth beside me were a man and a woman drowning in a quicksand, which one do you think I would pull out if I could only save one? Hint, it wouldn’t be the man!
There has been thousands, even millions of cartoons, lampooning Jesus, Moses, and all the other various prophets and religious icons, why should muhammad be so special?
Is islam such an utterly pathetic religion, that it cant stand up to a little humour or comment? It appears so.
If muslims believe in god, by whatever name, and believe that god made our universe, and everything in it, what right do they have to decide to destroy gods creations?
If muslims believe in god, and god made the universe and everything in it, what makes muslims think that god needs their protection?
If muslims believe in god, and believe that god made our universe, and everything in it, and muhammad was gods messenger, what makes muslims think that god cant protect muhammad and his psychopathic, and lunatic ramblings?

        • Riyadh

You do realize that more than 80% of what you just said is the the stereotypical way Islam has been portrayed by the media.

Read this and it just might clarify a lot of things that you said wrong:

          http://www.imranhosein.org/articles/signs-of-the-last-day/76-ten-major-signs-of-the-last-day-has-one-just-occurred.html

          • nik

I’ve read it, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with the subject here.

What I have said, has nothing to do with the media, but everything to do with recorded history, including history recorded by muslims, that is being perpetrated as I write.

My comments refer to the religious genocide practiced by muslims, throughout history and the antisocial acts perpetrated, and preached by its adherents, to this day.

If it is a stereotype, then it is because muslim actions follow their own stereotype, and have done so for 1400 years.

            An extract from your article, re: prophesy;

” Such prevalence of random killing, murder and violence that “a killer would not know why he is killing and the one who is killed would not know why he is being killed”, and “every age is followed by one which would be worse”—already around the world senseless random killing has arrived and is constantly escalating;”

It seems that muslims are enacting the prophesy, making it in effect self fulfilling.

            Another quote from your article;

““Naked barefooted shepherds would vie with one another in the construction of high-rise buildings”. This is already being fulfilled when wealth is wasted in grandiose and expensive public relations construction projects commissioned by people who hanker for visible symbols of status..”

Where in the world are the highest buildings being built today, and by whom?

            Mainly in the muslim world, by muslims, and paid for by oil;

Again, muslims self fulfilling their own prophesies.

The majority of the rest of the article I would dismiss as superstitious ramblings, by someone who is rehashing old writings that were rubbish in the first place, mixed in with a few,.(peace be upon him)’s, and a (peace and blessings of Allah Most High be upon him): to add a bit of pseudo authority to it.

However, although you claim that 80% of what I’ve written is stereotype, what is glaringly absent is any attempt to deny any of it, so my accusations stand unchallenged by anything of substance.

Finally, the other reason I would not pull the man out of the quicksand would be if he was a muslim, because he would then feel it was his duty to kill me, as I am a non-muslim. and will be so, into my grave.

          • Riyadh

Calm down I’ve only done my job to try to guide you. That’s all.

          • nik

            Guide me?
            To where?

            To What?
            “Up the garden path?”

          • Austin Larger

Also read the article, really trying to understand where people are coming from. By no means to I want to be influenced by media biased… it seemed irrelevant to the point at hand and only created more questions to Muslim beliefs.

          • nik

The simple facts are that Muslims contradict their own beliefs.
If mohammad was a prophet sent by allah, then by definition, allah would protect mohommad and his teachings.
However, the slightest hint of any tiny adverse comment send muslims into a frenzy of killing, to ‘protect’ mohammad.
Surely a messenger from allah and his prophesies should be sufficiently resilient to survive without the requirement for people to kill, to ‘protect’ him?
Quite recently, a young woman had a difference of opinion with a street seller. He then shouted that she had destroyed pages of the quran.
The girl was beaten nearly to death by the surrounding crowd, and finally set on fire, and burned to death.
It was later shown that she had not even had a quran in her possession.
However, that did her very little good, as she was dead,

This illustrates the core problem, mohommad was a psychopathic nutcase, who passed his psychosis down the ages, by misleading people with pseudo religious prophesies, and false promises, and his followers are still perpetrating the same crimes 1400 years later.

          • Ken Bot

We don’t care… tell your people to change their image FIRST! The media report fairly.

      • paendragon

Islam makes itself look bad by endorsing murder, theft and child-rape.
The fact that islam denies free speech incites people to point it all out.

        • Riyadh

All religions have bad people people within it. Islam has 2 branches: Sunni, who are the true peaceful believers and Shiaa, who are the ones running around with bombs strapped to their chest and killing themselves in the name of Jihad. Allah said to both avoid and fight (if in a war) against those who transgress you in the name of Allah. He didn’t say blow yourselves up. You say that Islam endorses murder, theft, and child rape. Instead of telling you that you are wrong (which is true). I’m going to tell you to simply go read the Holy Quran and figure out the answer for yourself. Because talking wont get someone who is stubborn to understand the point that I’m trying to show.

          • paendragon

Everything you just said was a lie, except the bit about “Allah didn’t say blow yourselves up” – but even then only because Moe wasn’t a real prophet just as allah wasn’t a real god, so he couldn’t predict the discovery of dynamite.

            ISIS are SUNNIs, not SHIAs.

Islam CLEARLY commands, not only endorses, murder, theft, and child-rape.

I’m sure I’ve read the Qur’an many, many more times than you have, and ditto for the two most sahih ahadith collections, (as well as the other four), Ibn Hisham’s somewhat sanitized rendition of Ibn Ishaq’s Sirat, the Tabari histories, and the main hedayas and risalas of sharia “law” (crime) – the four Sunni ones (Haneefite, Malikite, Hanbali and Shafeite) and even scraps from the alleged Jafari / Shia one (which I’m not sure even exists).

          • Riyadh

If you have read the quran many times then it is nothing more then a big shock that you still havent realized the truth. I’m only trying to guide you thats all.

          • paendragon

By now you must have realized you were born into the world’s largest and oldest ongoing extortion-racket and crime syndicate – one which actually slanders god, blaming him by pretending to praise him for it’s members’ own criminal desires and actions.

So the only question is: WHY do you still support it by lying to everyone else in public all the time?!

            ;-/

It would be morally irresponsible to not point out that Mohammad was a murderer, warmonger, rapist, pedophile, slave owner, and creator of a supremacist geopolitical ideology. He was the worst possible person a man can be. Exposing Mohammad’s character is the duty of all freedom loving people.

        • Riyadh

If what you say is true then you are pretty much also blaming the following prophets who all delivered the same message:

          Adam

          Idris (Enoch)

          Nuh (Noah)

          Hud (Heber)

          Salih (Methusaleh)

          Lut (Lot)

          Ibrahim (Abraham)

          Ismail (Ishmael)

          Ishaq (Isaac)

          Yaqub (Jacob)

          Yusuf (Joseph)

          Shu’aib (Jethro)

          Ayyub (Job)

          Dhulkifl (Ezekiel)

          Musa (Moses)

          Harun (Aaron)

          Dawud (David)

          Sulayman (Solomon)

          Ilias (Elias)

          Alyasa (Elisha)

          Yunus (Jonah)

          Zakariya (Zachariah)

          Yahya (John the Baptist)

          Isa (Jesus)

          Muhammad

          Peace Be Upon Them All.

Jesus was also a prophet who delivered the same message from Allah as everyone else did. All the Prophets had good characteristics that made them great people in the first place. Do a little History check first. XD

          • nik

Does this not also show that all ‘prophets’ were nuts and con-men, and that it depends entirely on your personal interpretation?

Personal interpretation, being ignore that bad things, and pretend they dont exist, and promote anything that can be regarded as good, in the hopes of hiding the truth and misleading people.

All religions based on the monotheistic gods do the same, and are equally disgusting at their core.

  • Dan

Pamela has confirmed what we all know already. Radical Muslims will kill you for offending their prophet. Can we please cut to the chase and get rid of these people?

    • paendragon

Pst! “Radical” means divergent from the core texts. But the Qur’an clearly orders ALL muslims to commit terrorism. And yet these criminals are also called “Extremist Fundamentalists.” How can one be “extremely fundamental” and yet also “radical” all at the same time?!

      ;-)

      • Egle Eye Eaglez

Did you add a new chapter to holy Qur’an? Who says this ”Qur’an clearly orders ALL muslims to commit terrorism.”

        • paendragon

Well, it does give exemptions for physical disabilities, like old age, blindness, lameness etc. but those exemptions only prove that the word “jihad” means violent and non-defensive warfare.

          • dallasplowboy

This is no longer a matter of personal or private faith. With politicians, social leaders and even some clergy invoking a book they seem to have never read and whose phrases they don’t understand, America is being besieged by Biblical illiteracy. Climate change is said to be impossible because of promises God made to Noah; Mosaic law from the Old Testament directs American government; creationism should be taught in schools; helping Syrians resist chemical weapons attacks is a sign of the end times—all of these arguments have been advanced by modern evangelical politicians and their brethren, yet none of them are supported in the Scriptures as they were originally written.

            http://www.newsweek.com/2015/01/02/thats-not-what-bible-says-294018.html

          • paendragon

Islam has never been a matter of personal or private faith.

Here’s islam’s “holy Message from god” as exemplified by the collective words and deeds of it’s Founder:

“I will save humanity by lying to, extorting, torturing, robbing, burning out of their homes, kidnapping and ransoming, enslaving, raping and murdering everyone who even only verbally disagrees with me – and you can, too!”

            – Muhammad –

Muhammad was really only a con-man and bandit-king, an arch-criminal who always blamed “god” for his own penchant for committing crimes. If Moe got away with committing a crime (and he tried them all, enthusiastically, more than once, but instead of ever showing contrition, bragged about how much fun it was to commit them, and advised everyone else to join in the fun, too), then it was held to be “obvious” that “god” wanted him to get away with having committed those crimes!

So, islam is not a “religion” (at all, much less one “of peace”) nor is it a “race” (at all, much less one of “Poor, Oppressed, People Of Colour”)!

Obviously, islam is ONLY an ancient, ongoing extortion-racket CRIME-syndicate, and the only “religious” part in it, is where they say:

“God told us to commit these crimes!”

            (Capisce?)!

            ;-)

The Qur’an clearly and specifically tells muslims the Bible is wrong and also that all Christians and Jews are infidel criminals who worship a false god, and who must therefore be extorted, enslaved, and murdered for their “crime” of not being muslims:

Sura (Chapter) 47:1-4 of the Qur’an:

            1: non-muslims are bad, because they insult allah by dividing his nature;
            2: muslims are good, because to them allah is the cause of everything;
            3: Allah made them both like that;
4: So muslims should chop off the non-muslims’ heads.
(Allah could have done it himself, but he wants you muslims to do it for him).”

It’s all right there, in context: islamic violence is entirely general doctrine-driven, and not at all specific grievance-driven.

(And chapter 47 isn’t by any stretch even remotely the worst, most violent chapter; that honor goes to either chapter 8 or 9).

So, if and when you consider islam to be a religion, you must agree with it’s main tenet: that God is a violent murderer who wants his muslim tribe to violently conquer the world by extorting, enslaving, and murdering all the non-muslim humans, right?

At WORST, all REAL religions only say:

“Obey our silly rules, or GOD (/’the gods’) will get you!”

            …but ONLY islam says:

“Obey our silly rules, or WE will get you (‘for god’)!”

A forced ‘Faith!’ ISN’T a “Faith!” at all – it’s only extortion, and extortion is always a CRIME.

Bottom line: If you decide to believe in “allah,” you have declared yourself a criminal, and so must be arrested, indicted, tried and convicted. Your confession of “faith” in your crime-god will help us to do so.

Muhammad Commands His Followers (Muslims) By Saying:
          [Remember]
when your Lord inspired to the angels, “I am with you, so strengthen those
who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those
who disbelieved so strike [them] upon the necks (BEHEAD) and strike from them every
          fingertip.” Quran 8:12

As if the King James has some justification for years of slavery and or that paper called the constitution is nothing more than fecal matter. Written by lily white landowning males. Parse what book you like, it is nothing but meaningless words, which were translated, thereby subject to the error of man.

“They wave their Bibles at passersby, screaming their condemnations of homosexuals. They fall on their knees, worshipping at the base of granite monuments to the Ten Commandments while demanding prayer in school. They appeal to God to save America from their political opponents, mostly Democrats. They gather in football stadiums by the thousands to pray for the country’s salvation.

They are God’s frauds, cafeteria Christians who pick and choose which Bible verses they heed with less care than they exercise in selecting side orders for lunch. They are joined by religious rationalizers—fundamentalists who, unable to find Scripture supporting their biases and beliefs, twist phrases and modify translations to prove they are honoring the Bible’s words.”

      • Tallulahdahling

The very first definition of “radical” at Dictionary.com is: “of or going to the root or origin; fundamental”.

The first noun definition of “radical” is: “a person who holds or follows strong convictions or extreme principles; extremist.”

Of course, the rightness or wrongness of holding and following strong convictions or “extreme” principles depends on how rational and valid those convictions and principles are. For example, there’s a big difference in a principle that holds that no one should *initiate* physical force against others or their property versus a principle that holds that one’s religion is supreme over all others and has a duty to subdue and rule supreme over mankind, by conquest and ongoing threat of violence, if necessary. The jihadists in the world believe the latter. That’s not what Pamela Geller and co. believe.

        • paendragon

The word “radical” has been corrupted in modern colleges and universities to mean the exact opposite (“Wow! That’s radical, maan!”) as if describing strange, unusual and divergent acts.

I can’t picture youths going gaga over “basic, expected” acts.

          ;-)

        • dallasplowboy

All fundamentalist from all nations are dangerous. We breed them fundamentalist here and thereby have little room to talk. Look what they did to Oklahoma and then in Vegas three innocent people died. Look at Ted Haggard as he spoke about the evils of homosexuality on the pulpit and then lured young boys with meth to engage in gay sex. They have this issue with the teachings/theory on The Origins of The Species, unlike Catholics, more so Jesuits. Pope Frank and I party often, yet he refuses to wear the Prada shoes, which would get him laid more often.

Pam you must have known such an attack would happen and you went ahead and did it. Bravo for your courage, but I feel so bad for the police officer who was hurt. The truth will out eventually. I believe I have seen all the cartoons and they all should be published by the cowardly Je Suis Charlie lying sacks of crappy pretendy western newspapers and magazines. No courage there, never was, never will be. Euros seems to be OK with lying to Americans that they will have a nice trip to Paris, unless they go outside the safe ring where Arabs burn cars for fun every night, like Washington, or Baltimore. My advice to Americans and Canadians, explore your own fantastic countries, everything is there. Europe is so old and decayed and dying, don’t go there anymore, they only rely on your tourism. Europe is so filled with Islamic hatred, why go? 40 men attacked 2 Jews yesterday, shades of WW2. Europe, it has given itself to Islam. Watch poor little Idaho, going to get thousands of Muslim Syrians., Toronto hated being given Somalis without being asked, as did Minneapolis, ask Minnisota what happened. Check your meat, if from Minnesota, it will be halal, I will not have any iman praying over my food. Many questions here, just saying I just gave Pam a donation to help her fight. A small one, but any donation I think might add to another. Gd bless Pam and donate even a tiny bit. How crazy would it to be to stop now. Now is time to attack, that’s what the left do, all the time, never say they were wrong. I think I must be a pretty bad Christi,.

          • OEFcrusader

Good to see you back on subject. FYI, I have read numerous books on Islam, I have fought with and against Muslims. I have lived in Dar Al Salaam for over 10 years. Now that we are back on subject why is it there not a much larger outcry from the supposed peace loving followers of Islam. The Muslim mentality is very similar to the African American mentality of being victimized. Not to mention the similarity to Nazis. The most insane thing is that Muslims leave their native countries to flee brutality and when they get to where they are safe they want to make the native people follow the very same play book that caused them to flee. My Guess you are from South or South West Asia. My guess you are in the UK or American now and I am sure that was for a better life and I do hope you have made one. As for people coming here and telling the locals how to behave isn’t going to work. Also, a religion thats treats their women like cattle and forces class distinction and forces people to pay a pole tax is not a religion. That being said if you want to come here, obey our customs and laws or simply don’t come. As for my spelling feel free to correct it anytime as you seem to have a need to do so. As for me that’s the last thing I am thinking about when discussing such matters which is apparent.

          • Ranjit Chowdhry

when you figure out why they sent you to those countries do let us know. hint: Iraq’s oil is mainly going to Israel. and btw, I am jewish in case you revisit the beheadings theory. I feel bad for you, sent to fight un-necessary wars and spend the peace defending yourself on these forums where nothing gets done, only spleen is vented. God bless.

          • OEFcrusader

FYI I was in NYC that day of the attack, my Grandfather and Uncle ran the Iron working gangs that put them up. Do you understand now. We lost more people on 9/11 then we did Dec 7th 1941. If thats not a reason to go to war not sure what is. At least we kill folks carrying guns. Saladin would be rolling over in his grave over his peoples behavior but then he was a Kurd not an Arab. Lastly if Israel was no in the middle east your would be killing each other at a much quicker pace. I doubt you are Jewish, right you have a Biblical name, sorry I missed that. No need for me to defend myself, The Cop in Garland took very good care of that for me.

      • QueenBisback

Keep in mind the audience…..not too bright.

      • dallasplowboy

Noe cons got an earful too. Vanden Heuvel started off the segment by saying that “there is no military solution to Iraq.” Seated alongside Kristol, she launched into an attack on Kristol:

Vanden Heuvel: Sitting next to Bill Kristol, man, I mean, the architects of catastrophe that have cost this country trillions of dollars, thousands of lives — there should be accountability…if there are no regrets for the failed assumptions that have so grievously wounded this nation…I don’t know what happened to our politics and media accountability, but we need it, Bill. Because this country should not go back to war. We don’t need armchair warriors. And if you feel so strongly, you should, with all due respect, enlist in the Iraqi army. http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/bill-kristol-architect-catastrophe-should-enlist-iraqi-army

        • dallasplowboy

Instead, sitting just a foot from him, vanden Heuvel told Kristol what we’ve all been thinking, especially of leading chickenhawks like him: that he’s one of “architects of catastrophe” who deserves “accountability,” and that what America—and by implication him and the neocons—has done to Iraq is “a crime.”

          • dallasplowboy

After more back and forth, Matthew Dowd, who worked for George Bush and has a son who served two tours in Iraq, in effect seconded Katrina and obliquely slammed Kristol, “We all know, everybody—most everybody knows—that this has been a colossal waste of money…and the blood of men and women of our country,” he said.

“We don’t fix the first mistake by continuing to make a second mistake.” Anyone who’s an enlisted person, he continued, “will tell you that the only way this can be solved is you have commit troops there for 100 years. …I, for one, don’t think we should send another man or another woman, over there in a mistake that was made in the first place.”http://www.thenation.com/blog/180459/vanden-heuvel-tells-kristol-if-he-wants-war-he-should-join-iraqi-army#

          • dallasplowboy

You were famously quoted as saying “if you break it, you own it” about the consequences of an American invasion of Iraq. So do we own it? http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2007/04/a-conversation-with-colin-powell/305873/

        • Ranjit Chowdhry

the Iraqi army was disbanded 10 years ago. wake up.

          • dallasplowboy

For example, the president should go to Congress if he’s going to take military action in Iraq…. There’s no military solution to Iraq, and I have to say, sitting next to Bill Kristol, man—I mean, the architects of catastrophe that have cost this country trillions of dollars, thousands of lives—there should be accountability.

If there are no regrets for the failed assumptions that have grievously wounded this nation—I don’t know what happened to our politics and media accountability, but we need it, Bill, because this country should not go back to war. • guymacher

      • Tallulahdahling

They also got what they wanted. Sort of. The dying part, anyway. Not so sure about those dark-eyed virgins.

    • Tallulahdahling

You could say that only a dummy would believe a god worthy of worship could want him to kill people for insulting him or his prophet. But once you’ve chosen to believe that dumb thing, you choose your mission according to who’s the most high-profile target insulting your guy. It doesn’t so much matter whether you actually get in to do the job, but that you tried and get to go to Paradise for it.

So, yes, they were dumb for their basic beliefs that took them there. But since the aim was to die in defense of Mohammad, they couldn’t have chosen a better place to achieve that.

      • dallasplowboy

So if you someday find truth and the big picture, look again for it is a small piece of the even bigger puzzle. Multifaceted and thereby having many side, much like a diamond, a diamond which is cut at an angle of reflection as opposed to refraction, so as to make it extremely hard to see inside. Meditation, prayers into a zen state of coma, or understanding from above; in the form of the Holy Spirit? It is but one of the hardest enigma to solve, yet if you look around, the physics of the eye sees everything upside down, however, our brains not knowingly bring this metaphysical ability, which no science can explain, yet. The harmony of an ecosystem evolves/morphs into a reality which somewhat can be explained and others which can’t yet. I certainly love the puzzle, enigma, quagmire of solving universal problems and the math of probability. Faith is taking orders on blind faith and we all are born with a sense of right and wrong. As you don’t see that invisible arm of capitalism, however, you take it at face value? Just as we dehumanize a young soldier and expect him/her to obey orders on blind faith. That too is ironic, in that older soldiers would ask questions, thereby, they look like Kristol when Katrina Vanden Heuvel tells him to join the Iraqi army.

In any case I do moonlight as an OBGYN. Then too, by appointment I do exorcisms; have your eyes rolling into your head and you speaking in tongues. It’s a gift I have always had.

  • Loveyourfellowpeople

This is just targeted to piss Muslims off and say oh no its all to protect out freedom of speech people will go on to draw Muhammad to disrespect the Muslim religion. How screwed up do you have to be to make a contest to discriminate against the religion this is how people are spreading hate and then backing it up by saying oh you know its all for freedom of speech like really its disgusting how far they are going to provoke violence. I am a Muslim American an I love America with all my heart this is not right and its racist as hell and to all the racist people commenting below me you are doing no good you’re just adding more hate to this world American freedom of speech is an amazing thing but you shouldn’t use it to try to spread hate towards a group of people. Maybe if people tried talking to Muslims they’d see that they don’t hate America they’d see that they are normal people trying to live their life like they are. God bless America and I hope things change for the best. Good luck to everyone even to those racist people commenting below me I hope people become more open minded to make this world a better one for us all

    • David Grosekemper

Muslims aren’t a race, open your eyes, look around the world today. Do yourself a favor, get educated. Sooner or later, sitting on the fence won’t be an option. After over 1400 years, Islamic history consistently defines the real meaning of evil and hatred. Wise up, convert to the human RACE.

    • spike

Muslims are not a race of people and they are not peaceful or tolerant. Mohammed was the worst person to ever live not the best.

‘If I ever meet Mohammed I’ll offer him a beer, a ham sandwich, and a booster seat for his wife.’

    • Corona Light

So, if you love America as you claim, then I want to see many comments from YOU on this website denouncing the shooting if it was in fact done by Muslims. Denounce that; do not denounce a cartoon contest that harms no person. We are waiting. And watching. Your silence will speak more loudly than your claims that you love America. If you love America, denounce the shooting, and stand up for free speech. If you love America, say Thank You that I am so fortunate to live in a country where people can make fun of the person I worship – say “Who Cares – life goes on.” Say perhaps the one I worship will punish them in the next life. But denounce the shooting.

      • disqus_HlH4Faibhw

        Let’s not hold our breath.

      • Syed ASAD Ali

Corona light, ‘loveyourfellowpeople’ did not encourage that shooting. He is just off from this string that he knew will put him for an account. I’m also a Muslim and I denounce that shooting with the core of my heart.

If you make fun of my prophet (Muslims don’t worship prophets), I will not shoot you, not harm you and I would still offer you help if you need it. I would still care about you, your possessions, your family, your pets and everything else that belongs to you because I’m a human first and Islam teaches that to us. God doesn’t need me to protect him or his prophet (PBUH). He needs no protection. He wants us all to be good to everyone.

  • Joe Polach

That’s not free speech; that’s pure stupidity and ignorance.

    • Barb_R

So Joe, you are being allowed to express your stupidity and ignorance … or should that not be considered free speech …?

      • Joe Polach

Study the precedent of juris prudence.

        • Barb_R

Oh, what a clever come-back! LOL!

Study my jurisprudence? Why? I’m not a lawyer and I don’t care to be one. I think studying the Constitution would be far more productive, don’t you?

          • Joe Polach

Juris prudence is, in fact, the study of the constitution, and if you further choose to study precedent, you will find there is no unfettered right to unlimited free speech.

          • Barb_R

Jurisprudence is, in fact, the study of law.

  • Who didn’t see this coming? Just because you have a right to draw something doesn’t mean it’s smart to draw something.

    • Jay Dillon

Free speech is “protected.” Get it? “Protected.” Draw whatever you want to draw. We live in a free country. Get it? At the same time, if you don’t feel the urge to draw, you don’t have to, of course.

      • If you’re dead you’re not free to say anything. Get it? Say all you want, but the reality is what you say can endanger your life. Walk into a biker bar and start mouthing off. You have a right to say whatever you want no matter how stupid.

        • Mlady_Raka

Jack Splat, you are going to be dead ANYWAY…because the criteria for ISLAM to let you live, is to convert and become part of this DEATH CULT of Submission,…in which you won’t have a right to say anything anyway… Or you are going to pay ‘protection money’ so they won’t kill you…the only bummer here is that since you are a DHIMMI and a KAFIR…and an INFIDEL (even if you pay over protection money) THEY are not bound by Islam to HONOR any treaty/agreement/contract they make with you…so they can take your money and kill you anyway… You can either lie down and take it like a lady, or you can fight back and NOT die in vain like a DHIMMIDIOT…DIM IDIOT…. get it?

          • Syed ASAD Ali

Jack Splat, you are going to be dead ANYWAY…because the criteria for ISLAM to let you live, is to convert and become part of this DEATH CULT of Submission

            NO ITS NOT.

          • Syed ASAD Ali

If Muslims are stupid, don’t blame Islam. Your mind is clouded by wrong stories. Islam preaches and advocate equal rights to all Muslims and non Muslims. All are equal. That protection money story is taken from past events that were specific to the treaty between Muslims and non Muslims. Read the history first in its true context and don’t confuse Islam with the deeds of Muslim terrorists. Please.

          A swing and a miss.

        • trebor86

Evil people should be identified and separated from the law abiding. If they are so stupid as to expose themselves over a cartoon, all the better for us than having to live with them undercover.

How do you think police attack bikers? They go undercover to see which ones are willing to participate in a crime.

    • sandra schmidt

Go hide in your hole, Jack. The real Americans will exercise your First Amendment rights for you. How low can you bow, dhimmi?

    • nik

If you have the right, its always smart to exercise that right, or you will lose it.

  • greatsatan

We need more of these Muhammad cartoon events. Have the security guards armed to the teeth, so that when the terrorists show up, we can gun them down. Death to Muhammad. Death to Islam.

The training at the School of the Americas (renamed the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation) is among the roots causes of migration, that forces people to flee their countries in Latin America. Many immigrants to the United States are victims of U.S.-sponsored military training and atrocities in Latin America. In our fight to close the School of the Americas, we continue to work towards a world that is free of suffering and violence. SOA Watch considers deportation quotas, mandatory detention, for-profit immigration detention centers, the militarization of the border, the “War on Drugs,” and the training of repressive forces at the SOA/ WHINSEC, as all parts of the same racist system of violence and domination. A dismantling of these and other policies is http://soaw.org/about-the-soawhinsec/266-roots-of-migrationneeded for there ever to be true “Comprehensive Immigration Reform.”

One man terrorist is another mans freedom fighter?

On November 16, 1989, six Jesuit priests, their co-worker and her teenage daughter were massacred in El Salvador. A U.S. Congressional Task Force reported that those responsible were trained at the U.S. Army School of the Americas (SOA) at Ft. Benning, Georgia.

In 1990 SOA Watch began in a tiny apartment outside the main gate of Ft. Benning. While starting with a small group, SOA Watch quickly drew upon the knowledge and experience of many in the U.S. who had worked with the people of Latin America in the 1970’s and 80’s.

Great website, and absolutely vital work. Thank you.

  • xstratusx

Holding this contest was actually a smart idea. Mohammad cartoons are like a magnet for jihadis. Put the cartoons in Texas where everyone is armed and it’s time to meet your virgins. Two less jihadis in the world.

    • More will come. Eventually innocent people will die. These terrorists don’t stop. There are literally millions of them. If only 1% of the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims are terrorists what? like 16 million terrorists? And that’s only if it’s 1%. Some estimates put the number closer to 20%.

Of course I’m glad the terrorists are dead. They piss me off.

      • xstratusx

They will keep coming whether or not there is a Mohammad depiction. We will not turn sharia just to appease them.

        • It’s like a hostage standing up and saying pick me first.

          • xstratusx

So you admit that Islam is holding America hostage?

          • Radical Islamic terrorists should all be killed by any means necessary. The point I’m making is that it is an act of personal stupidity to provoke radicals. They already hate us. They want us all dead. So what’s the point of drawing cartoons that you know will draw them out of the woodwork? Obama is not keeping them out. The federal government is completely incapable of securing the border. Even if they did there are mosques and websites radicalizing Americans to join the terrorists. Provoking them only accelerates the growth of terrorism. This contest will probably turn more Muslims to the cause of radicalism and over what? We don’t give a crap about drawing Muhammad or not. It’s like poking a dog with a stick. What useful purpose does this contest serve?

          • sandra schmidt

It is like cheese in a mouse trap. What a way to smoke out the murderous among them, although I do not believe that was the intention.

          • disqus_HlH4Faibhw

It’s beyond the point of provocation. They’ve already decided they’re going to kill as many of us at will as possible. EVERYTHING PISSES THEM OFF. You don’t have to do anything. They’re pissed. They need to learn that they are not running the show! If everybody throughout history was worried about who was going to get shot and killed “freedom” would only be a concept. Poking a dog with a stick will get you bitten. A dog doesn’t have the capacity for rational thought. Humans do. Muslims have been coddled for far too long. It’s time the world stopped their brattitude run amok. So cartoons got drawn. So what? Piss Christ was regarded as freedom of speech and Christians didn’t go around murdering people. Saturday Night Live spent YEARS insulting every ethnic and religious group, yet everyone thought that garbage deserved a top spot on nighttime programming. Kim Kardashicunt appeared in some photo next to an Orthodox priest… Did Christians go and torch a news outlet for it? No.

It’s time muslims learned they simply are NOT special.

          • Mlady_Raka

There is only ONE Islam…all of it radical, some exposed some under cover…but ALL radical… If you behave like a mat, expect people to wipe their feet on you. If it takes another Crusades to stop Islam AGAIN…then we must do what we must do right?

          • paendragon

All of islam is “radical” (divergent) towards rational civilization.

          • trebor86

One reason is to make clear that they need to be stopped, not tolerated or appeased

          • nik

The dictate of Mohammad is, ‘KILL THE INFIDEL’
There is nothing that will change that.
So, the answer is kill or be killed.
Follow the ‘law of the west’ do unto others before they can do unto you!

          • Syed Asad Ali

I’m a Muslim and I’m 100% agreed to your comments. This time you hit the nail right on the head. Drawing Muhammad (PBUH) or Jesus (PBUH) or any other prophet is the matter between a man and the God. I don’t care whether you hold a contest of draw his picture in privacy. The point is why do you have to publicize it? Just don’t give a shit about what a terrorist believes in. Kill the terrorist at sight but don’t be stupid to play your part in multiplying them.

          • paendragon

What “multiplies” terrorists? Could it be because islamic texts have officially demanded the death penalty for everyone who insults Muhammad?

            ;-)

And what is “insulting” Muhammad, to you muslims? Could it be merely disbelieving in islam? Of course it is – because that implies that one considers Muhammad to have been wrong, insane, an evil lying criminal scumbag – or all of the above!

So you poor little victims’ #1 response to being “offended” by “having your feelings hurt” by the often-painful Truth, is to kill the messenger, in stead of to rationally discuss the facts.

But here’s those real pesky FACTS about your precious islam’s “holy Message from god,” as exemplified by the collective words and deeds of it’s Founder:

            (Capisce?)!

            ;-)

The Qur’an clearly and specifically tells you muslims the Bible is wrong and also that all Christians and Jews are infidel criminals who worship a false god, and who must therefore be extorted, enslaved, and murdered for their “crime” of not being muslims:

Sura (Chapter) 47:1-4 of the Qur’an:

            1: non-muslims are bad, because they insult allah by dividing his nature;
            2: muslims are good, because to them allah is the cause of everything;
            3: Allah made them both like that;
4: So muslims should chop off the non-muslims’ heads.

          • paendragon

What’s this “radical” nonsense? I thought they were “extremists” and “fundamentalsts” too! But how can someone be an “extremely fundamental” in adherance to the core texts (the Qur’an clearly commands all muslims to commit acts of terror) and yet also be “radical” (divergent) to them?!

            ;-)

          • QueenBisback

            It’s holding YOU hostage.

      • Syed Asad Ali

Your reasons are somehow logical that ultimately innocent people will die. Please tell us about some estimates that put the number close to 20 percent of Muslims as terrorists? Even 1 percent as terrorists?

Total population of US is 318,892,103 people. 0.6% are Muslims which makes around 1,913,353 persons. If 1% are terrorists, then congratulations you have 19,144 terrorists in US. Multiply it by 20 to arrive at approx 0.4 million terrorists only in United States.

I thought this website will exhibit some rational comments but I was wrong.

        • paendragon

          ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS!

“Terrorism” is really only the simple crime of “extortion” writ large! Extortion is “threats!”

So ALL of you muslims are criminals, simply by being members of the world’s largest and most ancient yet ongoing crime-gang. Being a member of a crime-gang is a crime, even if the member hasn’t committed any specific crime beyond that of their general membership, because they represent the inherent public threat the crime-gang presents. It’s the Law. Everything you muslims pretend to believe is “holy” is already a crime!

          • Yes, according to allah and his messenger all Muslims have the duty to give the whole world to allah and impose sharia first with lies, then with violence.

« Islam is islamism in sleep mode and islamism is islam in action. » Ferhat Mehenni

Therefore we can say that Muslims are jihadists in sleep mode and jihadists are Muslims in action.

We must stop to say Muslims are not a problem but Islam is the problem because it is not true. An totalitarian ideology is nothing without people willing to obey its orders. Muslims are victims of Islam but they are also the problem because they refuse to look at their texts with the eyes of Reason.

Very brave. I have always admired American dare and daredevil spirit. But I am worried…there are so much antagonism against people who like freedom and diversity. I got told to keep quiet by a faculty (a faculty!!!) in India just for saying that shooting at a cartoonist is wrong…even if the cartoon I believed is in bad taste. People in India are too scared and too passive. They have mistaken excessive tolerance of sexism, shariyaa law, etc. as “being nice or inclusive”. Inclusiveness is not putting up with lower standards for women. I believe in tolerance, not passive acceptance of idiocy, macho domination and extremism that some people in certain countries or religions want. I may not like your cartoons, I may not do that…but you have a right to exist and dare. Any of you guys willing to do this in ME? In fact there are some young daring guys in ME who’d love to invite you guys. There are some cartoonists in ME who support you. Good going.

Mohammad is to Muslims, as Jesus is to Christians. Believed by Muslims to be a prophet and messenger of God, Muhammad is almost universally considered by Muslims as the last prophet sent by God to mankind. While non-Muslims generally regard Muhammad as the founder of Islam,Muslims consider him to have restored the unaltered original monotheistic faith of Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets in Islam.

Born approximately in 570 CE in the Arabian city of Mecca, Muhammad was orphaned at an early age; he was raised under the care of his paternal uncle Abu Talib. After his childhood, Muhammad primarily worked as a merchant. Occasionally he would retreat to a cave in the mountains for several nights of seclusion and prayer; later, at age 40, he reported at this spot, that he was visited by Gabriel and received his first revelation from God. Three years after this event Muhammad started preaching these revelations publicly, proclaiming that “God is One”, that complete “surrender” to Him is the only way acceptable to God, and that he was a prophet and messenger of God, similar to other Islamic prophets.

Muhammad gained few followers early on, and met hostility from some Meccan tribes. To escape persecution, Muhammad sent some of his followers to Abyssinia before he and his followers in Mecca migrated to Medina in the year 622. This event, the Hijra, marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar.

In Medina, Muhammad united the tribes under the Constitution of Medina. After eight years of fighting with the Meccan tribes, Muhammad gathered an army of 10,000 Muslim converts and marched on the city of Mecca. The attack went largely uncontested and Muhammad took over the city with little bloodshed. He destroyed the three-hundred and sixty pagan idols at the Kaaba, in the city. In 632, Muhammad fell ill and died. Before his death, most of the Arabian Peninsula had converted to Islam, and he had united Arabia into a single Muslim religious polity.

I’m sending this out to Americans who, like me, don’t truly know Muhammad’s life or how the Muslim faith was created. It sounds to me very much like the creation of Judaism or Christianity, which is why I find it curious that people draw cartoons of a mean faced man. I’ve never seen a cartoon drawn of a mean faced Jesus, have you?

It makes no sense and it is no wonder to me why devout Muslims find this upsetting. I think the same would be true of devout Jews and Christians.

    Stop the hatred.
    Get educated.
Build peace through understanding and knowledge.

A serious question from a lefty: From what I’ve heard and read, the sharia restriction against depicting Mohammed only applies to Muslims themselves, and not to non-Muslims. In fact, I think the written rules on the subject are very specific on this point.
If that’s accurate, those who are attacking the cartoonists are breaking their own religious laws. Can anyone offer a serious reply and/or clarification? Thanks.

    • oldschoolpatriot

Well, Chuck, it doesn’t, as Hillary said, make any difference. All infidels must be either subjugated, converted or killed. There’s really no room in Sharia for infidel cartoonists. Right?

    • Tallulahdahling

According to the Hadith, Mohammed himself had people killed for mocking him. When it comes to unbelievers making cartoons of Mohammed, it’s not so much the drawing as the mockery that earns the death sentence.

The analogy: Jesus purposely DREW to OFFEND the religious leaders who were intent on KILLING a woman, guilty of breaking their law – the law men put together with the intent of protecting a guilty man (her partner) and killing the woman, exposing their hypocrisy.
