I am an American who visited Montreal in the early 90s, and again a little over 10 years later. Both vacations I stayed in “nice” areas on the west side of downtown, or just south of Mont Royal.

The first time I just practiced my French, enjoyed the French cuisine, and soaked up the French Canadian ambiance, waving to the Mounties and taking lots of pictures all over town. It was my first ever trip to Canada.

The second time I was staying in a hotel on Sainte Catherine street, the main tourist drag. I repeated a lot of the same experiences, but things had definitely changed.

There were jawas here and there everywhere I went, and I saw signs written in Middle Eastern languages with no apparent regard for the law that all outdoor signs in Quebec have to be in French, unless they bear a stamp from the authorities saying that a different language has been approved.

Starting on the next block south of my hotel there was a neighborhood where it looked like a spaceship had arrived and dropped off refugees from the desert planet Tatooine. Every woman was dressed like a jawa.

Now I read Atlas Shrugs, Gates of Vienna, Jihad Watch, Diana West, Bare Naked Islam, etc., regularly, and hear about the changes people are reporting in the last couple of years.

If I went back to the same “nice” areas of west Montreal today, what would I find it like another decade on from the second trip? Would it still be nice, or would there be mosques everywhere, and crime, and rude, arrogant, dangerous-looking Mohammedans?

And in east Montreal, which is less affluent and more working-class, and which was much more solidly French-speaking than the bilingual west side?

Over the last decade, governments have dropped standards across the Western world, and a flood of poor, uneducated immigrants have invaded from the same countries that used to supply only doctors, engineers, and store owners. Would I find eastern Montreal still to be solidly French-speaking, or would there be enclaves with mosques and people dressed up for camel rides in the desert, and nothing but the guttural sounds of Mid-eastern languages? And would it still be safe for a non-Muslim or a woman to be out alone? And after dark?

One vivid memory I have from my first trip, late twentieth century, is walking down a fashionable street on the west side, coming back from a great restaurant very late at night, and seeing two stunningly beautiful young white women, dressed to the nines, and laughing together as they walked down the street in their elegant high-heeled shoes. That was one example, but there were others similar ones on the same short trip. It struck me that, having visited urban New England in the same era, summer nights south of the border were not like that.

On my second trip, early twenty-first century, I kept an eye out for the same phenomenon. No joy. It was a subtle change, but noticeable. I didn’t see any cases of attractive, fashionably dressed young women walking around much after dark, either alone or in small, all-female groups.

Is that carefree montréalaise ambiance of the first trip now just a lost relic of twentieth century Canadian civilization? Will we not see its like again, post-invasion?

I explained before of what measures were being taken by the Federal Gov’t. pertaining to immigration….I guess though you have closed your mind and eyes to the facts. it seems You dislike anyone that is not like you…which is your right to do so…. just don’t expect everyone to agree with you.
There are good and bad in every group….regardless of which one a person belongs to. Canada was populated with all types of immigrants for centuries. As long as everyone realizes our values and principles and our laws…. I have no qualms with any coming here for a better life!

May I recommend …ACT! America , for which there are Canadian chapters , which you can find on their website. I think that it is a new movement in Canada but I agree with your understanding . What we think we can see is a percentage of what is actualy a threat, I believe.
Also, Honest Reporting Canada, a media watch organization that seeks to find and correct disinformation and to level the playing field. Allowing Israel to be smeared with lies is one edge of a shar knife and allows precedent that will occur, is occurring in other places.

You are speaking about Ontario and Quebec where many muslims are living right now. Here’s why…. take a look at who is running those Provinces ….. the Liberals. Both Provinces are “have Not” Provinces due to their inability to manage their affairs.
Quebec wanted her Language Laws….she got them. The muslims now that she is getting all speak French! Tunisian muslims. She wanted to be fully French speaking….well she got it.
When Little Pear Tree says Canada in her comment…..it is then referring to all of Canada which is under the governance of the Federal Gov’t. Then the comment was made about Calgary and Toronto. These cities are not run by the Federal Gov’t. They are not run by the Provincial Gov’t. but by their respective municipal Gov’t. and they are not the same as the Federal Gov’t.
So…no I’m not proving Little Pear Tree’s point at all. It’s a matter of “Separation of Powers”.
Even your Federal Gov’t. has no say in what happens in any one State, nor in any municipality of any State.

Full face veils are not allowed for taking the Canadian Citizenship….just one of the many things that are being changed by the Canadian Federal Gov’t…..
It is up to each individual business to govern whether they allow folks to wear a face covering or not. It is not up to the Federal Gov’t. to stipulate it! It’s just like the “No Shirt, No Shoes, No service” Policy…or the “No Animals allowed” Policy…. Businesses are allowing it, so you will see muslimahs wearing the veils. It’s just that simple!

I saw a news report that after one violent rally in Calgary, the news station forced the police to go after and arrest the violent muslim protesters and then there was an immediate, fairly spontaneous counter protest by REAL Canadians against the Muslims! This was so encouraging to see, but obviously it’s not enough. The Canadian people MUST demand that the government either control the muslims or deport them back to their countries of origin, for anti-Canadian treasonous behavior. I’ve lived in Israel for many, many years and know first hand the hate of the muslims.!! Don’t be afraid of them, because that’s what they want. Canadian citizens need to stand strong together and stop them now!!! They have no right to do what they are doing to your beautiful country.

That though is a city problem and the Calgary Police Chief, the Officers on duty who didn’t come when called and weren’t even in the vicinity at the time of these rallies and the Calgary Mayor should also be personally charged for what happened!
At least Two Calgary Police Officers were willing to do the investigation for the perpetrators of the crimes.

I agree that not all Muslims are bad, but I can tell you from personal experience, having lived in Israel for 30 years, that the majority follow the hate-filled teachings of the Quran and hate Jews and Christians alike, just because they are different. Only a small minority want to live in peace with others. And if the Imam calls all Muslims to Jihad, they will turn on you in an instant and all friendship is forgotten. This is the reality of Islam. So I hope that Canada is really on top of things because the inciting, treasonous, hateful rioting in Canada, the US and Europe is just the beginning.

The truth is plain and simple. A Muslim is evil to the extent he follows his evil prophet. Period.

It was a very dangerous precedent and it was not the only one in Canada this summer. In Waterloo, a pro-palestian protest got very ugly and one of the organizers stated , publicly that had the police not been present ” we would have slaughtered the Jews”
At the time of the protest in Calgary, one of the organizers , a student at the U of C posted a tweet that said ” I will soak my khafiyeh ( scarf) in your blood and show it to your siblings”

It was the work and insistence of Ezra Levant that resulted in the arrest of the four violent protesters , one of whom was a slight Jewish girl in her twenties , dragged to the ground by her hair and then kicked by grown men.
I watched at the next protest , a pro-palestinian man ignore police requests to move from the middle of the road , where he wanted to film his friend driving past with an enormous Palestinian flag waving from his sports car. The man filming smiled at police and back away from them , remaining in the road , despite being told not to do it.
Incidental and anecdotal , yes, but exemplary also, I believe of the Islamist intentions here.
It is worthy of note that there are over 100, 000 Muslims in Calgary . We have managed to export five jihadists from this city to Syria , where one of them was filmed stating “and you in the West, we are coming for you and we mean to destroy you ”
Stand with Israel, to stand with Israel is to reject the smearing of a democratic nation , and to confront the taqiyya lies about Israel. To set a precedent and send a message that says ” we see you for who you are”

Thank you for your kind and understanding reply. I appreciate that very much. I wasn’t aware of the incident at the Al Quds rally and yes, that is very disturbing . It is disturbing because of the precedent it might set. That is how jihadism gets a foothold and how Sharia law gets a foothold. A litte at a time. The goal is to increase public tolerance, a litte at a time. It happens in increments , just as it did in Germany before the Holocaust became a reality.
That’s why we have to be watchful, pro-active , informed and involved.

It is worthy of note that during this same time here in Calgary , I was threatened on a train platform by a very angry , very menacing man who muttered at me, with clenched fists and a clenched jaw. A man who thought I wouldn’t understand the threat he spoke in Arabic. Again, very subtle. And why did he threaten me, in my opinion?
He saw my necklace and realized that I am Jewish. I followed his gaze and then watched and listened.
Subtle , but it speaks to intent and we should never confuse intent with results.

thank you , really , it’s nice to hear that. Yes, these young men are taken in and it’s horrifying. It’s horrifying to think of young black men especially , unaware of black slavery in the middle east and that the word “abeed” means “slave”.

They observe and quietly seek out the weak and vulnerable – to talk and sell their lies about how islam is the answer for them – the only answer – and this is Taqiyya. And who more vulnerable that the youth – the ones trying to find their way and their place. They are being sold on the promise of great things to come for them – and they eat it up like candy!! And at that point they are lost.
