VIDEO: Pamela Geller on ABC News covering Pro-Israel Bus ads

24

Mark Matthews of ABC News (KGO TV), San Francisco, did a news report on our pro-Israel bus ads that just hit the streets. In it, Matthews proselytizes for Islam, redefines jihad, and makes a bit of a fool of himself. He falls over himself to get the Islamic perspective, but runs no counter to their claims. He spent a good deal of time during our interview arguing about the word "savage." I explained that any war on innocent civilians was savagery. Matthews countered that both the US and Israel have killed innocent civilians and I shot back that the US and Israel never target innocent civilians, ever. The deaths of innocent civilians are the tragic consequence of war sometimes. The war on Israel, OTOH, is a war on innocent civilians. Needless to say, that never made it onto the broadcast interview.

You can tweet Matthews @MatthewsABC7. He has already blocked me after I tweeted this:

@MatthewsABC7 Why only Muslim &anti-Israel voices in your news segment? Why no pro-Israel voices?Your bias is ugly. You redefine jihad #tool

Check out Matthews' report here: Pro-Israel ads on Muni buses spark criticism

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco's Municipal Transportation Agency has a policy against political ads on its buses, but an ad being displayed now comes pretty close. The ad says, "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat jihad."

James Ashburn was surprised when he saw his bus roll up with the ad on the side. "It really struck me as an inappropriate ad to be on a city bus," he said. Ashburn took a picture of the ad and sent it to ABC7 News via uReport. He thought the ad crossed a line. "No matter what side you're on, you should not describe your opponent as a savage," he said.

The pro-Israel ad was purchased by the American Freedom Defense Initiative run by Pamela Geller. "The reason I wanted to run these ads was to counter the anti-Israel ads that were running in various cities across the country in New York, in D.C., on San Francisco BART," she said. If you don't remember any anti-Israel ads on BART, that's understandable. It has been a year since an ad ran calling on the U.S. to cut military aid to Israel. "It was a fallacious and dangerous message and it had to be countered with the truth," Geller said.

The truth being in the eye of the beholder, ABC7 News showed the ad to Muslim's going into Friday prayers at a San Francisco mosque. Adam Kennard called it propaganda. Ted Oriqat pointed out that the ad distorts the meaning of jihad. "Jihad, it doesn't mean killing people or anything like that," he said. And Oriqat is correct. Jihad means "struggle" and is frequently used as in "striving towards the way of God."

Matthews says "truth is in the eye of the beholder." Wrong. You are entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts. Truth is the recogniton of reality. Any war against innocent civilians is savage.

"No matter what side you're on, you should not describe your opponent as a savage,"

Really? Decapitations, honor killing, dismemberment, clitorectomies deserve ….. respect?

The bus message didn't sit very well with the city system in New York. They refused to run them and Gellen took the transit authority to court. "And interestingly enough, the day that I won, was the day that San Francisco approved my ads that are currently running on your buses," Geller said.

A coincidence? Not according to Muni's spokesman Paul Rose. "In this specific case, litigation was brought to this organization and the transit agency lost," he told ABC7 News. So, the buses with the signs will continue to roll for at least the next four weeks. "If I had my way, they'd be in every city in the United States of America and if I can get the funding, that's exactly what's going to happen," Geller says.

Asked how this particular ad is not considered political in light of Muni's no-politics policy, Rose struggled to answer. However, the legal action and the fact that the New York MTA has already lost in court have had an impact.

UPDATE: From David Wood:, ACTs17:

Both the media and Muslim propagandists keep telling us that "Jihad" simply means "struggle," and that it often refers to "struggling" against one's own desires. They like to pretend that Muhammad didn't tell his followers which type of "Jihad" he had in mind when he commanded them to wage Jihad:

Sunan Ibn Majah 2794—It was narrated that Amr bin Abasah said: “I came to the Prophet and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, which Jihad is best?’ He said: ‘(That of a man) whose blood is shed and his horse is wounded.’”

So the best "Jihad," according to Muhammad, involves bloodshed. This sort of Jihad is so essential to Islam that a Muslim is said to be "deficient" if he doesn't have visible wounds on his body (as a result of fighting non-Muslims):

Sunan Ibn Majah 2763—It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever meets Allah with no mark on him (as a result of fighting) in His cause, he will meet Him with a deficiency.”

Indeed, Muhammad told his followers that Muslims who want to live in peace are hypocrites:

Sunan An-Nasa’i 3099—It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: “Whoever dies without having fought or having thought of fighting, he dies on one of the branches of hypocrisy.”

I love the way he asks Muslims going into the mosque what the think. They should have said they don’t support jihad. The one guys says he can’t support Israel. Why no follow up to that question? Hmmmm.
The lefties and supporters of jihad are twisting inside and out. And what can one expect from a reporter (or supporter) from SF? I tend to believe the ads will spark some interest for those who aren’t familiar and will look into it and learn a little.
A savage is a savage and is defined by his actions!

Matthews was clearly running on shear ignorance of Islam, the man is shamelessly clueless as he spouted his comments fed to him by local Muslims.
Matthews tried to sound like someone who knew what he was talking about when he said jihad means struggle, how ignorant can you get in your San Francisco bubble Mr. Matthews.

Jihad means ‘struggle’ alright, but 99.9% of muslims see it as fighting with everything they got.
This “Greater Jihad” and “Lesser Jihad” business comes from a single Hadith that is not judged authentic by the most authoritative muhaddithin, such as Bukhari and Muslim. Karen Armstrong, naturally, in her little guide to nothing called “Islam,” quotes this hadith and makes much of it, without hinting at how little it means to Muslims. Of course, it is unclear if Armstrong understands what an isnad-chain is, or how the muhaddithin studied and ranked the hundreds of thousands of claimed Hadith (more correclty, ahadith), or how the muhaddithin themselves have been ranked according to their supposed authoritativeness.

So if bus ads are not supposed to be political then why the anti-Israel ads?
Seems only when Jews try to defend themselves do the rules conveniently change.
Pamela Geller is right on the money, and Mathews is a fool.

This ad campaign, together with the reactions of the public, will illustrate to those in the know, just HOW much the US public are ignorant of the colonisation Jihad in America now being waged against them, together with the degree of PC bias in favour of the aggressor.
Like the UK, American public opinion is SO far behind the truth of the reality behind Islamic colonisation. Largly hidden, it is mis-represented by the left as something not to be concerned about, or worse, only “Cultural diversity”.
That this campaign will cause comment, some or most hostile, is no bad thing, perhaps the islamic meanings of Jihad could be displayed alongside next time, to prove to those decieved by lies that there really IS an issue, and people had better start talking about it. Rot and corruption both need darkness to thrive.

E-mail just sent to KGO and Mark Matthews:

A word comes to mind as defined in American Heritage dictionary regarding your “investigative reporting” on the Bus-Ad piece.
a) Sycophant – “A servile self-seeker who attempts to win favor by flattering influential people.” However, I submit an expansion of that definition. ” A pandering out of fear to those (Islamofacists) who threaten to brutalize/murder/assault others.
Your pandering, despicable, sycophant-like reporting piece was ugly and repulsive. You are not a journalist… you are a propagandist. Quit your job! I would be ashamed of myself for collecting a paycheck and calling myself a reporter after this obvious agenda-driven cowardly piece.

There was a factual error in the ABC story: The last anti-Israel ads were in SF train stations in April 2012 – not “a year ago”.
Additionally- the Mondoweiss Hate Site printed an extortion from their writer Annie Robbins to vandalize the ads yesterday.

Here’s something that UREPORT should know about:
jihad will only mean “a struggle” when liberal bastards like you are struggling to breathe after the devout savage muslims cut your neck as prescribed in the koran that you never took the time to investigate.

“No matter what side you’re on, you should not describe your opponent as a savage,” he said.
………………………………………………………………………..
This is an unbelievable statement. He sounds like he is talking about a sporting event. These aren’t “opponents”, these are inhuman enemies who’s aim is the annihilation of the Jewish people.
The fact that it is controversial to refer to terrorists who are waging a genocidal war against the Jewish people, who slit the throats of children and babies and who blow up buses, cafes etc. as savages, shows how morally bankrupt the supposed civilized world has become.

We have the obligation to educate the world about the true nature of Islam, and the true historical attitude of the U.S. towards Islam. The U.S., starting with President Jefferson, hates Muslims. The first war the U.S. fought, after the Revolution, was against Muslims. It is sad that so many people forget this vital aspect of history.

by Gary DeMar
The following remarks were made by President Obama at an Iftar Dinner for Muslims held at in the East Room at the White House:
“As I’ve noted before, Thomas Jefferson once held a sunset dinner here with an envoy from Tunisia – perhaps the first Iftar at the White House, more than 200 years ago. And some of you, as you arrived tonight, may have seen our special display, courtesy of our friends at the Library of Congress – the Koran that belonged to Thomas Jefferson. And that’s a reminder, along with the generations of patriotic Muslims in America, that Islam – like so many faiths – is part of our national story.”
Little has changed since the eighteenth century. In Joseph Wheelan’s well researched and highly readable book on America’s first war on terror with Islam, we learn that “Jefferson’s war pitted a modern republic with a free-trade, entrepreneurial creed against a medieval autocracy whose credo was piracy and terror. It matched an ostensibly Christian nation against an avowed Islamic one that professed to despise Christians.” Wheelan’s historical assessment of the time is on target. “Except for its Native American population and a small percentage of Jews, the United States was solidly Christian, while the North African regencies were just as solidly Muslim – openly hostile toward Christians.”
The Quran’s peace initiatives are one sided. To have peace, opposing forces must submit to Islam or be destroyed.
The Crusades, far from being an outrageous prototype of Western imperialism, as is taught in most of our schools, were a mere episode in a struggle that has lasted 1,400 years and were one of the few occasions when Christians took the offensive to regain the “occupied territories” of the Holy Land.
When President Jefferson refused to increase the tribute demanded by the Islamists of his day, Tripoli declared war on the United States. A United States navy squadron, under Commander Edward Preble, blockaded Tripoli from 1803 to 1805. After rebel soldiers from Tripoli, led by United States Marines, captured the city of Derna, the Pasha of Tripoli signed a treaty promising to exact no more tribute.
The Marine’s Hymn with the line “From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli” should have been sung in the East Room of the White House to put history in perspective for the President and his Muslim guests.
Paul Johnson, “‘Relentlessly and Thoroughly’: The Only Way to Respond,” National Review (October 15, 2001). Consider this from John Quincy Adams: Consider the following from John Quincy Adams: “The precept of the koran is, perpetual war against all who deny, that Mahomet is the prophet of God. The vanquished may purchase their lives, by the payment of tribute; the victorious may be appeased by a false and delusive promise of peace; and the faithful follower of the prophet, may submit to the imperious necessities of defeat: but the command to propagate the Moslem creed by the sword is always obligatory, when it can be made effective.
