I’ve had disturbing conversations with friends about the subject and gone through exactly the same thing. They get upset because they don’t want to be anti-Muslim or anti-Islam. They ultimately acknowledge they are woefully uninformed about what is happening with Muslim “fundamentalism.”
I wouldn’t just blame the left or anti-semitism. Thank the efforts of the government, starting with George W. Bush, and the media to paint Islam as a benign religion.
Also, we all know it’s OK and “edgy” to criticize Jews and Israel. Jews aren’t going to get crazy and violent. It’s not the same with Muslims obviously, so no one wants to stir things up. That might get serious blowback. I’m sure that’s part of the equation otherwise people wouldn’t be falling all over themselves to condemn AFDI.

UK: Demo against Mosque in Chelmsford, Essex
Today, a few hundred people turned up for a Demo in Chelmsford, in opposition to a proposed Mosque (in Rigina Road). Reading Musings of a Durotrigan‘s article, I am stunned to learn that UK Independence Party (UKIP) attended this demonstration. Problem is, UK Independence Party (UKIP) weren’t there to support the demonstrators against the planned Mosque, they were there to support the ‘unwashed’, leftists/commies!!! You couldn’t make this shoite up. This must be a huge disappointment to many who were looking to vote UKIP at the next election.

Like clockwork, the announcement that the EDL were to protest today spawned a decision by the local TUC to stage a counter-protest under the UAF banner. I believe all Muslims do in fact support jihad. Not in an overt manner of course but in a quiet, tacit kind of agreement. Muslims have always been notoriously silent on jihad and this is support. They are NOT speaking out against their fellow Muslims who are committing these awful crimes against the free world. And all Muslims, merely by being Muslim, support the Koran, an evil book sanctioning violence and hate against all who reject it’s teachings. I’m not suggesting that all Muslims are bad people – they aren’t. But let’s not pretend to believe in a good Islam – an Islam compatible with Western values – a peaceful Islam with peaceful Muslims actively stopping the so called “extremists” from inflicting jihad upon us all.
But even if I’m right (and I believe I am) what’s wrong with condemning a whole group of people supporting (overtly or tacitly) the overthrow of our country. What’s wrong with condemning a religion that is, at it’s root… evil? Because 1.5 people subscribe to it? Because it promotes “God”? It makes no sense. To oppose Geller’s ad as these people do, says to me they are either stunningly ignorant or haters of freedom… or maybe both.
