Waiting for the Miracle to Come

Story continues below advertisement

For those of you waiting for the miracle to come, I am here to tell you that it is here. The events of the last week were stunning. This week, the home team scored big in the face of overwhelming odds.

The week started out looking bleak. In general, the world is marching to war against “the little Jew who wrote the Bible,” as the poet and songwriter Leonard Cohen wryly put it in his song “The Future.” “Waiting for the Miracle” is another one of his songs, and a miracle might be what has to save the free world at this point. The world is marching against freedom, against the West. Those of us who are married to this work, to the fight, have chronicled the play-by-play on the road to Armageddon. We have been confounded by the apathy exhibited by good, decent folks in the face of this naked evil. It has been one blow after another here in America and across the world.

Many believe that it will take mass death to rouse the good people in the world to action. Many think that this is simply the human condition. It was this way with Hitler. Everyone knew what he was and what he was saying. Just as today, they know what Ahmadinejad is saying, and what Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi is saying, and Anwar al-Awlaki, and Ibrahim Hooper, and Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf…

Everyone knew what Hitler was, and still many people loved him until he stopped winning. What did it take to wake up the good folk? Mass death. By the millions.

And that is coming.

But not this week, although it looked for awhile as if this would not be a good moment for freedom fighters. In an act of diabolical calculation, Barack Hussein Obama dropped a bomb on Benjamin Netanyahu right before the Prime Minister of Israel was scheduled to speak before the joint session of Congress at the invitation of the Speaker of the House, John Boehner.

Obama announced a proposed return to the “Auschwitz borders,” Israel’s 1967 borders that were at one point only nine miles wide. Wipe out. And so the real story of the week, the unity government that Hamas and Fatah began forming, was obliterated and disappeared from the national dialogue. Instead, the Prime Minister of our strongest, most unflappable ally in the Middle East was boxed in. He had to defend his tiny nation; he had to rebuke the nazi-like comments of President.

And so he did, brilliantly. And in doing so, he was the object of scorn and derision from the leftwing media here and abroad — not to mention the flapping tongues of the chattering class. They thought that Obama had masterfully outfoxed our friend. But not so fast. The expectation of the media elite and those who think they know better was that Binyamin Netanyahu would praise Obama to the skies when he spoke Monday at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Obama had opened the door to this in his remarks the day before at AIPAC. He doubled down, but spouted just enough rhetoric about “ironclad” relationships and so forth that it would have been bad form for Netanyahu not to pay tribute.

But he didn’t. Instead, he made a damn fine speech and retained his dignity, his principles and his moral edge. And that was just the opening act. On Tuesday, he spoke to the joint session in Congress, and his speech was a triumph. 56 times. That’s how many times the Congress cheered, applauded and/or stood up for Benjamin Netanyahu. This kind of reception is reserved for a much-loved president of…the United States. He was welcomed with a standing ovation and over three minutes of thunderous applause.

And he did not disappoint. Netanyahu was brilliant.

This was history. Unforgettable.

“Israel has no better friend than America and America has no better friend than Israel,” Netanyahu said. The two countries “stand together, to defend democracy, to advance peace and to fight terrorism.”

His speech was very strong. He did not downplay the disagreements, but discussed them forthrightly and was met with thunderous applause.

“Israel,” he said, “is the only country that has guaranteed freedom of all faiths in Jerusalem, which must remain undivided.” He went to say that Hamas not a partner for peace. Israel will not, he said, “negotiate with a Palestinian government, which is backed by a Palestinian version of al-Qaida.” Its charter calls for killing of Jews; he said he was “willing to make far-reaching compromises,” but under any pragmatic deal, strategic sites must be incorporated into final borders.

There is no need for the United States to send troops to Israel because “we defend ourselves,” Netanyahu said. He spoke ‘‘about the great convulsion taking place in the Middle East” in his opening remarks and said that the “ground is still shifting” and that the uprisings in the Muslim countries represent people’s demands for liberty — but like 1979 Iran, the outcomes were in question.

He said that of 300 million Arabs, the only ones who are “truly free” are citizens of Israel. “Israel gives equal rights to all her citizens, even those who once fought against her, and even to those who work against her even at present – and announce publicly that they do so. There is no Arab or Muslim country in the world whose citizens have the freedom that Israel’s Arabs have.  There is one country in the Middle East where they enjoy freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of the press – Israel."

After one person got through the layers of security and tried to heckle the Prime Minsiter, Netanyahu said that the United States is a “real democracy,” unlike the “farcical” regimes of Tehran and Tripoli (it was delicious).

Thank You Pam for this encouraging story, I fear for America when I hear echo’s of abandoning our commitment to Israel! I have to recommend to all reading The Vision of Obadiah. http://ebible.org/web/Obadiah.htm The Lord will do it!
And be careful because “Friends who eat your bread lay a snare under you. There is no understanding in him.”

I find it strange that the “freedom loving” Muslims of the Arab Spring (e.g. in Tunisia or Egypt) can’t seem to stop ranting and raving about Israel and the Jews (“yahud”?) or murdering and persecuting Coptic Christians in Egypt. I find it disgusting that the MSM doesn’t seem to think this worth reporting.

Netanyahu’s speech was impressive. However the real test will be if he backs up his words with action.
There is no point making a speech about not going back to Auschwitz borders and then later giving in to American pressure.
The unfortunate fact is that Netanyahu has a history of making irresponsible concessions to the enemy.
It may be that he has changed. I hope that is the case. But as you Americans are fond of saying,
” I’m from Missouri, Show me”

That Book that the “little Jew” wrote also tells us that Israel will prevail. So I say to all of Israel’s enemies: BRING IT ON. For G-d will kill 5/6ths of you. Israel doesn’t (and never did) need a large army because “I am with you” said the Lord. And He will, again, be with Israel when Russia and Islam come against Jerusalem. Yes, “the Miracle” WILL come. Maranatha. It’s said that Netanyahu has made concessions in the past, but think about it. Has Israel actually lost anything yet, since Bibi has been PM? Nope. Nada. He mimics his rhetoric after his enemies such that he’ll say what they want to hear but do what they don’t want done. He’s got to be doublejointed with the massive straddling he has to do to please the world and probably a good tap dancer too. Give him the credit that is due him. It could be worse. Obamanable could be PM! Oops – sorry. Got carried away. Wouldn’t wish that upon ANY country. Nobarack08 said it for me too: “divide obama, not Israel.” And Harriet, we are NOT a tiny people, it’s our enemies who are tiny – large in number but tiny individuals – like ants or roaches or locusts or even dead grains of sand. It’s the small sliver left of Israel’s G-d given land that is tiny. David slew the giant. Israelis are the giants now. And yes, we sure DID show them and we will show them again. Mazel tov.

Though it has been said a million times before, the same answer still stands… “Throw the bum out!”
Obama is a sickness in our land. He insults our friends and bows to our enemy. He obviously hates everything this nation treasures and he is determined to destroy the very things which made us great in the first place.
We need a proud, firm patriot like Benjamen Netanyahu in our oval office. We need a real leader who can give us back the pride we once knew.

In human history, only America and Israel were nations founded on
an accurate paradigm definition of human nature:
Earth’s Choicemaker Psalm 25:12
What is Islam’s premise definition of human nature? None.
Islam: 1. Inferiority. 2. Envy & Jealousy. 3. Hatred. 4. Death…
Now you can know who the only GOD is. Joel 3:14

The Jew
author unknown
Scattered by God’s avenging hand, Afflicted and forlorn, Sad wanderers from their pleasant land, Do Judah’s children mourn: And e’en in Christian countries, few Breathe thoughts of pity for the Jew.
Yet, listen, Gentile, do you love the Bible’s precious page? Then let your heart with kindness move To Israel’s heritage; Who traced those lines of love for you? – Each sacred writer was a Jew.
And then as years and ages passed, And nations rose and fell, Though clouds of darkness oft were cast O’er captive Israel, The oracles of God for you Were kept in safety by the Jew.
And when the great Messiah came For guilty man to bleed, He did not take an angel’s name, No – born of Abraham’s seed – Y’shua Jesus, who gave His life for you, The gentle Saviour was a Jew.
And though His own received Him not, And turned in pride away, Whence is the Gentile’s happier lot? Are you more just than they? No; God in pity turned to you – Have you no pity for the Jew?
Go, then, and bend the knee to pray For Israel’s ancient race; Ask the dear Saviour every day To call them by His grace; Go, for a debt of love is due From Christian Gentiles to the Jew.

Thank you, Jim from the bottom of this Jewish grandmother’s heart. I wish I knew where to find this to send it to my Christian and Jewish friends and family. Truer words were never spoken.

I watched Netanyahu’s speech after the fact, on You Tube. He was indeed magnificent and I was left with a feeling of despair, envy and pride; despair that Mr. Netanyahu leads a nation with too many enemies, envy that we cannot claim him or his equal as ours and pride in the fact that he loves America as much as Americans love Israel; at least most Americans, those not blinded by bigotry. Isolated, confronted for over the past 1/2 century with the venom, hatred and violence prevalent in their area of the world, asking for nothing except the chance to live in peaceful harmony, the Jews have proven themselves, time and time again to be a bastion of courage, strength and self determination and the West’s only hope to ever achieve victory in a war we refuse to acknowledge even exists.
If and when the self delusional West awakes from its myopic, pseudo intellectual stupor and decides to confront the real enemy in the Middle East, the enemy that will never agree to a peaceful settlement with Israel, the enemy that wants nothing less than the annihilation of the Jews, the Muslim hordes devoted to the Islamic Jihad; until that day, hopefully before Iran acquires a nuclear weapon, there will be no chance for peace in the Middle East and, unfortunately, that may be the beginning of WWIII when the rest of the world will get a taste of the terror the Jews have lived with in their isolated pocket of hell since May 14, 1948.

I don’t think Netanyahu would ever give in to anybody’s whims. I’ve never known Israel to give up or give in on anything unless they wanted to. Netanyahu is all about survival and he knows if he allowed Obama to call the shots for his country the Jews would see a second holocaust. He’s ultimately responsible for the welfare of his people, he’s not the middle man, and he’s nobody’s puppet like Obama is. He’s everything you want in a leader being well versed in their military, strategy, politics, and diplomacy. Any good leader knows their enemy and as of yet Israel is the ONLY nation that’s never had a plane hijacked all the while being surrounded by the enemy. By the way, they do that without the millions of dollars of equipment that has proven to be a complete failure in the U.S. This prime minister flexed his muscle when he called Obama out on camera in the Oval Office. The scene pretty much looked like a parent scolding a child. If nobody knew these two people I’d be willing to bet they’d think Obama was the prime minister and Netanyahu was our president since it’s assumed we’re the authority over everybody else. Netanyahu is no fan of Obama, you can tell, and I’m sure before he landed he may have thought Americans everywhere had the same lack of concern for Israel. I was glad that not only did he find that the mass majority of Americans everywhere support him but that even Obama’s favorite buddy Reid spoke out against his views too. Everyone in Congress loved him and for once in I don’t know how many years Congress truly appeared to be “All for one and one for all”.
It was nice seeing the Queen throw Obama to the curb too! It’s pretty sad when no country likes you, not even the terrorist buddies he’s making deals with!!!LOL
