The Quebec TV Interview: “La droite étasunienne selon Pamela Geller”

52

A few months back (before the Islamic revolutions in the Middle East and Africa), I did an interview with Richard Martineau for his news magazine television show, Les Francs-Tiruers. It aired a couple of weeks back on Quebec Television, but was not viewable in the States. Télé-Québec: The Mavericks, Interview Pamela Geller

We discuss Obama, my book The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration's War On America, and the islamization of America.

It was posted to youtube. Thanks to Marcus, who sent these youtubes, and quipped, "Obviously, Richard Martineau believes that Sarah Palin and Tina Fey were the same person. It was Tina Fey and not Sarah Palin who said at SNL: 'I can see Russia from my house.'"

I lived in Quebec for most of my life (as an anglophone; the English-speaking minority) but I can’t say I’ve ever heard of the adjective “étasunienne” before. Translated straight, it’s like saying “United-States-ian”.

The nazis betrayed nationalism. They did not betray socialism. Socialism is an expansionist doctrine and regime. The first thing the nazis did was invade another country, in typical socialist expansionist fashion.
True nationalists do not want to interfere in another country.

That’s the kind of debate I like to see, everything between “I like your tie” and “American Exceptionalisim”
One vs One. With obvious differences. And a solid defense of our positions on all the topics at hand. Even the debate setting, it looks like a part of a small restaurant, and not the vast sound stages of “NBC WORLD HEADQUARTERS” uff. Good stuff, and although he’s certainly a part of the left, he had no great personal attacks for you, How refreshing !
Has anyone given you the “heads up” regarding Canada’s equalization plan? Each year, the “have” provinces give the “have-not” provinces billions of dollars, for social programs. Quebec gets about $8 billion each year. They are utterly dependent on the successful provinces like British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan. (in the west…) Without this money, Quebec would collapse on itself in a few years. …. All of Quebec, is on welfare.
Ezra Levant, being from Calgary, Alberta as well, knows this topic inside and out.
Very well done Pamela.

Pamela, I loved your interview. You were focused, informed, precise. I loved it!
There is one point, though, with which I agree with M. Martineau. There are thuousands, if not millions, of people who agree with you: your position about the cursed mosque, the danger not only our country, but also the Western civilization is facing, the need to defend Israel and prevent the empowering of Iran. But so many of these people cannot bring themselves to side with you because of extreme position on issues that even though you may be right about, you portray them in such extreme ways that it is difficult not to look at your position with hesitation.
I understand your need not to compromise; I agree with you a 100%. But there are certain nuances in words that even though of similar meaning, their selective use can have a different impact. Let’s say leftist or communist; in my head I use them indistinctly, but I’m quite aware that using the latter will have a much stronger and negative impact than when using the former. I’m nos compromising my ideological beliefs when I use leftist. I’m just trying to benefit from the fact that selecting that word rather than communist will open more doors to reach my audience.
Let’s look at Sarah Palin. The fact that Obama and Pelosi are not qualified for the positions they occupy does not make Palin more qualified for President or even VP.
M. Martineau was also right when he said that there is no dialogue between left and right because they are both reciting dogma and are unable to exchange ideas.
But I admire you and visit your blog more than once a day, even though I believe that should you try to discard part of the political discourse you could have a much stronger impact on your mission of opening minds to the dangers we are facing.
And what’d you know? Even Bill Maher is seeing the light! Keep your good work by alerting the world of what the green snakes in the grass are truly after throughout the world!

It galled me how he derided Palin and held Obama to a different standard. She has shown her transcripts, he never attended class and had degrees purchased for him. She is a natural born Citizen, he is a foreigner, an installed usurper, an espionage agent. She is pro-American, he hates American to her core.
And as far as brains go…let’s remember Obama’s famous quotes, such as ‘the president of canada’, ‘austrians speak austrian’, ‘my uncle saved auschwitz’, ‘the great lakes in oregon’, ‘the oreo(cookie)n constellation’, ‘the country of europe’, ‘america is a muslim country’, in Virginia at a country store he asked what an object was and was told “that’s a ball hitch cover” and obama said, “what’s a ball hitch?” idiot… oh and ‘my father was in world war 2’,
‘the bomb that fell on pearl harbor’, ‘I bowled like special olympics’, ‘corpseman’, ‘let me be clear, israel is a strong friend of israel’s’, ‘we are resolved to halt the rise of privacy in that region’, ‘we will bring greater choice and inefficiencies to our healthcare system’, ‘life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, in france, liberte, absolutely’, ‘cinco de quatro’, ’57 states’, ‘10,000 people died in kansas tornado’
ETC.
This interviewer actually thought Tina Fey’s line was Palin’s? Wow. Mon dieu.

This guy is a classic. His beliefs are more important to him than reality. Any who doesn’t agree is automatically categorized as being of a lesser intellect. “You’re over simplifying” “You’re blaming the other.” He has no ability to question his own assumptions (which happen to be false).
I loved to see Pam turn the bipolar world view of left vs. right on it’s head. It’s about personal freedom vs statism which denies these freedom. It’s really not difficult to understand: any ideology that places itself above individual freedom and universal human rights will necessarily do more harm than good (not to mention the potential for genocide).

Pamela you didn’t give this frenchie an inch, you superbly handled all of his attacks and best of all you live and breathe your ‘individualist’ (Ayn Rand inspired) philosophy.
Great criticism of the Conservatives, it’s true the left almost always rally behind their kind no matter how wretched he/she might be (think of that traitor John Kerry), while the right let their own twist in the wind.
Thoroughly enjoyable interview, it’s too bad you didn’t have time to get into Islam or expand on why Obama is so dangerous.
I will differ with you on Sarah Palin, she’d be almost as bad as Obama, even though her heart is in the right place, she doesn’t have the fortitude or depth of wisdom for leadership and she’s too easily seduced by the limelight.
We need real leadership in 2012, John Bolton, Rudy Giuliani, Rick Santorum or my personal favorite-though he probably won’t run-Allen West.
There is really only 1 issue that matters for me in the next election cycle-Islam, whoever understands it and is willing to take the gloves off and deal with it the way we dealt with Nazism, would get my vote. One man I admire who took this threat seriously and with great understanding was Dick Cheney, we need someone like him, before it’s too late.

Quebec is about as socialist as it gets. Most of the money they use to pay for their Utopia comes from Working Canadians. Mean while this Province holds the rest of the Country in contempt. I found it amusing about him defending the health care system when his own supreme Court in Quebec called it a disaster & illegal.
In fact murderous for seriously sick people.

Bush never lied. That has been proved beyond doubt. There was SOME bad intel that was universally accepted as the best and actually only intel at the time. Despite some intel being flawed the case to remove Saddam was and remains well founded. The prosecution of the war was what was flawed as it was done with the idea that a purge of high ranking officials would free Iraq to reform. It was not a war but a police effort and it will fail in the end as corruption runs deep in any long standing government. It is so here in the US as well as we finally recognize the many alterations to the constitution were all aimed at growing power where we were warned to never let it be grown. Obama simply stepped into the continuing assault against the constitution and steered it toward his goals. The ruling class does not care about life, only long term profit. Their plans are built on the short assumption that they can never be held accountable for their acts just by calling them political decisions designed to be more fair to minorities and more tolerant of foreign ideas. IMO thats just another way to say treason in the name of fairness is unprosecutable.

Please be aware that a Marxist Communist will only use Socialism as a step PRIOR TO communism. Socialism for them is just a necessary stage, like Capitalism. Communism is not socialism, it is far worse and has various important distinctions. Socialism usually implies democratic underpinnnings and a central government. Communism is not democratic in the liberal sense (liberal as into the original use of the term) and there is meant to be no real central government, a total absence of private property.
As a side note it seems Obama was moving your country towards a French system of Healthcare, NOT a socialist British version of healthcare. Just to add some prospective, though Palin was right about the Death Panels. One might consider the French system better than the British because though the British is free for all forever, the french (a mixed healthcare system) appears to provide superior health and care.

That was excellent apart from suggesting Fox is center-left – absolute nonsense, an opinion you should drop. Most of Fox New’s reporting is balanced but limited in content – cheap, just the facts (how news should be maybe). But a great deal of Fox is Opinion Shows where the presenters are openly conservative and right wing. How absurd – insane – of Pam to suggest it is center-left. Otherwise she is amazing.

I agree with Pamela: Fox is positioned as center left. I wish there would be more conservative advocates for the rights of individual. as the good example of Fox’s left inclination are Bill Oralie and total fake – Giraldo Rivera whom Fox gave huge amount of the air-time. Those two politically super correct individuals are shifting position of Fox from the middle of political affiliation scale to the center left. So, do you like it or not Pamella was right.

Poosh
Poosh

That is insane. Rivera might be a centrist. Pamella is not right, she’s patently wrong on this one issue. If you think Bill O’Riley is in the middle or leftist you’re an idiot and there’s no way out of it. That’s an attempt to move the goal posts to suit your political position. You think because they bother to give some voices to a few Muslim Brotherhood cronies that’s someone evidence of lefistm? Fox actively tries to be balanced AS A PUBLIC SERVICE it gives voices to others but still the panels for the most part are predominantly conservative and right wing. This isn’t even an argument. Hanitiy, O’Riely, Beck.
On the record is if you pay attention conservative but Greta is a true journalist and attacks from all directions – what a REAL journalist should do. And that’s only on Fox News.
I mean this is insane land when you’re calling Fox News centre left. Insanity. PURE stupidity.
Libertarianism is a FAR RIGHT ‘doctrine’, and yes you can place ANARCHY to the far right as well. You’re pathetic in this instance if you think Fox is leftist because it is not positioning itself to an EXTREME position of the spectrum.

Poosh
Poosh

oh, and to complicate matters, LIBERALS (in the 60’s hippy style American definition) are individualistic and ‘libertarian’ as well – when it suits them. Drugs, letting kids f*ck at 14. That’s individualism.

You lost me as soon as you suggested Geraldo is centrist-proves you have no clue, that idiot is as lefty as they come, just like Colmes and Juan Williams. I’d almost want them off the station cause I can’t stand them but then it’d be no different than propagandist liberal shows, so it does bring in some ‘balance.’
Fox does try to be centrist but Bill O’Reilly who supposedly represents the right, is a dumbass and has gotten much more leftist over time, Glenn Beck is usually lost in his own little world, though occasionally he says some sensible things. Sean Hannity is about the only true conservative and about the only non-PC person who dares to take on Islam and Obama forthrightly.
So I think Pamela has it right-that Fox is center-left.

Poosh
Poosh

let’s pretend Geraldo is a leftist – and thus is calling for various degrees of
Massed socialism
Higher corporate taxes
Less money on defence
Gun control
Free abortion for all
Higher taxes for most but the poor
More government control of businesses and ‘the means of production’
MASSED welfare
– which is a reasonably leftist position but you can get more extreme without hitting a ‘communist’ position.
One person against most Fox News presenters who clearly believe in little of the above (I think almost ALL of use believe in small degrees of socialism to give the poor a helping hand, so don’t go there), Glenn Beck is lost in his own right-wing world with his high-rating slot? I have watched a good deal of O’Reily and Hannity as they are on in my timezone and how you can mistake O’Riely for a leftist is beyond a joke. He may take ill positions here and there, so what? As if everyone has to be the same. If you think he is left wing you’re on another planet and need to have a reality check and see REAL centre-leftists – LIKE Tony Blair. Then see REAL lefists – like half of his party, then see REAL SOCIALISTS like the back-benchers of his party.
Some of you really have NO idea about politics at all and just blurt out crap to rig the political spectrum your way so you can label moderate liberals ‘extreme’ and SOMEHOW reasonably right-wing tv presenters as ‘centre left’. Do you know how insane and dishonest that is? And how stupid it makes you look. Fox News – in its opinion areas ‘ “rigs” its ‘expert’ pannels to have a predominantly conservative view. CNN, BBC, ABC etc do the same but in the opposite direction, so that’s not a criticism of Fox.
I mean there are probably some of you THICK enough to think the war on terror is a left/right issue and if someone isn’t fighting against Islam he’s not right wing somehow?

I think almost ALL of use believe in small degrees of socialism to give the poor a helping hand…
gotta disagree with you there. the money a conservative gives to charity is given by his own free-will, not taken from him at gun-point by the govt. remember that only about 28% of those dollars actually makes it to the poor. last year i made ~$30,000 but still managed to donate as much to charity as our (sarcasm font used here) beloved vice-president. so i do not believe in socialist giving because most of it doesn’t make it to where it’s supposed to go.

The left are so smug in their supposedly (in their minds) superior virtue (Melanie Phillips expounds on this so well) . I am from and also live in Québec . Pamela,
Excellent, as always you were a delight to listen to and you explained so well how the MEDIA sold Obama
as cool-aide to the American public. He is not smart, intellectual, it was a smart marketing move the way ‘they’ presented him to the American public at the right place at the right time. Ohhhhh do we regret that now!!!!! Well to that I say the people that voted for him got what they deserved, we now need to wake up and move on. Thank god for people like you, you are smart articulate and a true patriot. As for Sarah Palin, she too is all that, America is not ready for her yet though. She is darn good at steering up the dust and keeping people on there toes. That is what she should be doing, rallying along side the candidates running for President in 2012. That is her strong side, her patriotism, her believe in America, her values, her conservatism. Maybe speaker of the house one day?
We NEED some one with a lot of experience and b……for President,to get us out of this mess. Haven’t seen him or her yet!!!!!!
