Arizona Shooter Jared Loughner: A Certified Lefty Nut — His Videos, Favorite Books: Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf UPDATE: High School Friend Calls Him “Very Lefty” PHOTO

215

This is from his youtube channel. Total lefty loon.

A certified nut…….

"The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar." Full text of video click below link on this post

UPDATE: Shame on those like Arizona State Senator Linda Lopez, who blamed the tea party on FOX news without any basis in concretes or any knowledge of the identity of the gunman. They would never make such a public presumption about jihad or the leftists. Outrageous.

UPDATE: This is Jared's "music video" — this flag burning madness. This is Jared, dressed as a terrorist in the video burning the flag. (FOX confirmed this is Jared in the burka-like get-up.)

FOX News reports the shooter's favorite books: Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf

UPDATE: Democratic Underground removes the thread on Loughner here. Hmmmm, wonder why.

DU

UPDATE: News reporting Loughner is an atheist.

There's an anti-bible quote in one of his videos:

Every United States Military recruit at MEPS in Phoenix is receiving one mini bible before the tests,” he writes in one video. “Jared Loughner is a United States Military recruit at MEPS in Phoenix Therefore, Jared Loughner is receiving one mini bible before the tests."

UPDATE: Congresswoman Giffords is a major Blue Dog Democrat — almost so right she could be considered a conservative in certain areas. She was a Republican. Her only major left position was support of Obamacare.

UPDATE: AS OF NOW LOUGHNER HAS NO MILITARY RECORD

Transcript of Loughner's final thoughts;

My final thoughts: Jared Lee Loughner!

Most people, who read this text, forget in the next 2 second!

The population of dreamers in the United States of America is less than 5%!

If 987,123,478,961,876,341,234,671,234,098,601,978,618 is the year in B.C.E. then the previous year of 987,123,478,961,876,341,234,671,234,098,601,978,618 B.C.E. is 987,123,478,961,876,341,234,671,234,098,601,978,610 B.C.E.

987,123,478,961,876,341,234,671,234,098,601,978,618 is the year in B.C.E.

Therefore the previous year of 987,123,478,961,876,341,234,671,234,098,601,978,618 B.C.E. is 987,123,478,961,876,341,234,671,234,098,601,978,619 B.C.E.

If B.C.E. years are unable to start then A.D.E. years are unable to begin.

B.C.E. years are unable to start.

Thus, A.D.E. years are unable to begin.

If A.D.E. is endless in year then the years in A.D.E. don’t cease.

A.D.E. is endless in year.

Therefore, the years in A.D.E. don’t cease.

If I teach a mentally capable 8 year old for 20 consecutive minutes to replace an alphabet letter with a new letter and pronunciation then the mentally capable 8 year old writes and pronounces the new letter and pronunciation that’s replacing an alphabet letter in 20 consecutive minutes.

I teach a mentally capable 8 year old for 20 consecutive minutes to replace an alphabet letter with a new letter and pronunciation.

Thus, the mentally capable 8 year old writes and pronounces the new letter and pronunciation that replaces an alphabet letter in 20 consecutive minutes.

Every human who’s mentally capable is always able to be treasurer of their new currency.

If you create one new currency then you’re able to create a second new currency.

If you’re able to create second new currency then you’re able to create third new currency.

You create one new currency.

Thus, you’re able to create a third currency.

You’re a treasurer for a new currency, listener?

You create and distribute your new currency, listener?

You don’t allow the government to control your grammar structure, listener?

If you create one new language then you’re able to create a second new language.

If you’re able to create second new language then you’re able to create third new language.

You create one new language.

Thus, you’re able to create a third language.

All humans are in need of sleep.

Jared Loughner is a human.

Hence, Jared Loughner is in need of sleep.

Sleepwalking

If I define sleepwalking then sleepwalking is the act or state of walking, eating, or performing other motor acts while asleep, of which one is unaware upon awakening.

I define sleepwalking.

Thus sleepwalking is the act or state of walking, eating, or performing other motor acts while asleep, of which one is unaware upon awakening.

I’m a sleepwalker — who turns off the alarm clock.

All conscience dreaming at this moment is asleep.

Jared Loughner is conscience dreaming at this moment.

Thus, Jared Loughner is asleep.

Terrorist

If I define terrorist then a terrorist is a person who employs terror or terrorism, especially as a political weapon.

I define terrorist.

Thus, a terrorist is a person who employs terror or terrorism, especially as a political weapon.

If you call me a terrorist then the argument to call me a terrorist is Ad hominem.
You call me a terrorist.
Thus, the argument to call me a terrorist is Ad hominem.

Every United States Military recruit at MEPS in Phoenix is receiving one mini bible before the tests.

Jared Loughner is a United States Military recruit at MEPS in Phoenix.

Therefore, Jared Loughner is receiving one mini bible before the tests.

I didn’t write a belief on my Army application, and the recruiter wrote on the application: None.

The majority of citizens in the United States of America have never read the United States of America’s Constitution.

You don’t have to accept the federalist laws.

Nonetheless, read the United States of America’s Constitution to apprehend all of the current treasonous laws.

You’re literate, listener?

If the property owners and government officials are no longer in ownership of their land and laws from a revolution then the revolutionary’s from the revolution are in control of the land and laws.

The property owners and government officials are no longer in ownership of their land and laws from a revolution.

Thus, the revolutionary’s from the revolution are in control of the land and laws.

In conclusion, reading the second United States Constitution, I can’t trust the current government because of the ratifications: The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar.

No! I won’t pay debt with a currency that’s not backed by gold and silver!

No! I won’t trust in God!

Good grief. This one is so elaborately looney that it goes beyond what the average conspiracy theory nut can even make up. Conspiracy theory nutcases on other planets couldn’t make this guy up. And yet, a Democrtic Arizona State Senator just KNOWS it’s the fault of the Tea Party and FOX News.

  • joan

He is an ANARCHIST or at the very least a very disturbed individual according to his You-Tube Videos. He also is an atheist who “won’t trust in God.”
This was posted on the young man who is the supposed suspect:
“If there’s no flag in the constitution then the flag in the film is unknown.
There’s no flag in the constitution.
Therefore, the flag in the film is unknown.
Burn every new and old flag that you see.
    Burn your flag!
I bet you can imagine this in your mind with a faster speed.
    Watch this protest in reverse!
Ask the local police; “What’s your illegal activity on duty?”.
If you protest the government then there’s a new government from protesting.
There’s not a new government from protesting.
Thus, you aren’t protesting the government.
There’s something important in this video: There’s no communication to anyone in this location.
You shouldn’t be afraid of the stars.
There’s a new bird on my right shoulder. The beak is two feet and lime green. The rarest bird on earth, there’s no feathers, but small grey scales all over the body. It’s with one large red eye with a light blue iris. The bird feet are the same as a woodpecker. This new bird and there’s only one, the gender is not female or male. The wings of this bird are beautiful; 3 feet wide with the shape of a bald eagle that you could die for. If you can see this bird then you will understand. You think this bird is able to chat about a government?
I want you to imagine a comet or meteoroid coming through the atmosphere.
On the other hand, welcome yourself to the desert: Maybe your ability to protest is from the brainwash of the current government structure.
    His favorite books:
Books:I had favorite books: Animal Farm, Brave New World, The Wizard Of OZ, Aesop Fables, The Odyssey, Alice Adventures Into Wonderland, Fahrenheit 451, Peter Pan, To Kill A Mockingbird, We The Living, Phantom Toll Booth, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, Pulp,Through The Looking Glass, The Communist Manifesto, Siddhartha, The Old Man And The Sea, Gulliver’s Travels, Mein Kampf, The Republic, and Meno.

  • JX

And North Korea is official “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea”
I suppose you believe they are a democracy?

  • Walt

    Sorry Alan,
There was NOTHING about National socialism that has anything to do with socialism or liberalism in general. A word is a word and many modern totalitarian states like to put the word ‘democracy’ in their name to put some lipstick on the pig of repression. Nazi Germany was a dictatorship pure and simple. In fact they loathed socialists (and especially communists) with a white hot fury. I actually don’t think they were really conservatives either in the sense that we understand the term in the US. However, the extreme right trends toward their direction of extreme patriotism, willingness to trade rights for security, and the use of ‘the other’ as a scapegoat for society’s ills. By the same token, Stalin was never a liberal, but the extreme left can engage in Stalinist thinking of greater state control, wealth redistribution, and limits on thought.
This guy strikes me as insane, pure and simple. It will be hard to judge his motives as coming from the right or left, and anyone who is assuming he was a right wing or left wing nut is trying to put a rational face to an irrational action. The question is what pushed him over the edge. People like this guy people can be inspired to *become* a right or left wing terrorist nutcase through rhetoric and propaganda, which today is more prevalent on the right than left. This is the real danger from politicians and radio personalities talking about ‘second amendment solutions’, ‘death panels’, and secession or calling a sitting president a closet terrorist or a war criminal. Our history is replete with this kind of stuff, and, while both sides still engage, it’s skewed in one direction. Most of us filter it out into the noise that it is, but to a sufferer of paranoid delusions it can become their personal Bible.

  • tomjones

I for one do not believe he had or has any political affiliation. He sounds more like a crankhead or a someone suffering from paranoid schizophrenia who is off his meds.

  • hi

This is a typical left extremist, a crazy idiot who loves Mein Kamf, like most extrem left wingidiots!. By the way: Hitler was a socialist/ left extreme too. This creature became friends with muslims who wanted to kill the Jews in WWII too.

  • Stefcho

Perhaps Sen. Lopez would like to apologize on air to the tea party for her error.

  • Well, Obama IS the government!

  • adam

He’s playing Drowning Pool’s “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor”, which is the song used by Guantanamo interrigators, while dressed as a Muslim. He’s clearly a deranged leftist. His HS yearbook photo features very long hair.

  • I don’t think Loughner was right- or left-wing. He is a crazy man with personal delusions. He found a small bit of grounding in current events but reinterpreted them to fit is own very special reality.
It’s been pointed out his fav books were Mein Kampf and Communist Manifesto; at 22 yrs it’s doubtful he read those books. More salient are other books, most prominent is Through the Looking Glass and, if he’s faking crazy, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
Also note, his writings refer to himself in the third person and past tense.

That’s right Igor, everything’s a government conspiracy. They control everything, they know everything. 9/11? U.S. Government. Kennedy assassination? U.S. government. Moon landing? Government conspiracy. Barack Obama’s fake U.S. birth certificate? Giant government conspiracy… ’cause the U.S. government just really, really wants a foreign-born Muslim to be the president for some reason.
Here’s some actual government conspiracies: Saddam’s Weapons of Mass Destruction; the Iran-Contra affair; the Vietnam war.

  • BLAME4FUN!

    Teabaggers did it.
    Kidding.
Teabaggers are hungry, but they never eat their own.

  • clay.dotson@yahoo.com

First of all, I just heard a State Representative and friend of the Congresswoman Linda Lopez blame the Tea Party for this! Before even knowing all the evidense on this dispicable crime, and by the way I stand with support the Tea Party BUT I CLEARLY CONDEMN ACTS OF VIOLENCE SUCH AS THIS! Ms. Lopez has NO CLUE about the motivation behind this crime, but placed the blame on citizens who believe in small government, taxation with representation and the Rule of Law.
Second, we in America are better than other nations in this world because for the most part, we have a moral basis that establishes our Rule of Law that when people take office of a party that don’t always have the nation’s best interest in mind, we have opportunities as private citizens to disagree and as long as we do it within the bounds of that rule, our rights are to be protected under the Constituion.
PLEASE let the law enforcement folks do there thing, and find out what kind of a REAL NUTJOB this gunman really is. Let’s find out who he listens to, what kind of influences he has, and what books and publications he reads.
My Prayers are for the speedy recovery of this Congresswoman, and may God Bless Her and the Family, and God Bless America.

  • llm

Rep. Giffords’s father blames the Tea Party. Enough said.

  • Randy

Don’t try to assign this guy to any ideology. He is nether right wing or left wing…he is just ‘wing’. Don’t try to fit him into some hole where you can justify his actions, they are un-justifiable. He has killed at least two people (a child and a judge) so send him to Texas where (as Ron White says) execution has an express lane.

  • Laurac68

Anyone who, after watching these maniacal videos, believes this guys is sympathetic to the Tea Party, the Republican Party, etc, has serious reading comprehension issues. This guy doesn’t say anything that aligns him with any conservative viewpoint, quite the opposite, in fact. Ms. Giffords was a good friend of Gov. Brewer. They stood shoulder to shoulder, TOGETHER, as opponents of illegal immigration. She was also a Blue Dog Dem and former Republican and was well thought of by members of BOTH parties!! You “kneejerks” who are claiming that he’s a “right wing nut job” are the lowest of the low, trying to turn a tragedy like this into political warfare…Rahm Emanuel would be so proud of you, as he said, “never let a crisis go to waste”…and you haven’t. How the hell do you people live with yourselves? I would say “shame on you” but to feel shame, you have to have a soul and clearly, you don’t.

  • Mike

I hate to spoil things, but did you ever consider that PEOPLE OFTEN LIST BOOKS THEY HAVE NEVER READ, JUST TO GIVE THEMSELVES AND IDENTITY? This guy clearly isn’t a leftist given his film clips and his anti-government actions. In all likelihood he listed Mein Kamf for its association with Hitler and the Communist Manefesto for its association with Stalinism. His goal in listing those books, and many others in his profile, was to identify himself as what he perceived to be “antiestablishment” from the standpoint of American values. To claim he is a left extremist is the embodyment of naivete. The closest definition would be he is an anarchist and mentally disturbed. However, I am sure that right wing extremists, including the author of the original entry, will claim he is a lefty extremist despite his actions.

  • Markus Valiant

So he was a left-wing nut after all, loving the two most prominent extreme-socialistic ideologies.
    Communism and National Socialism.
    Bingo.

  • MadeUpName

How do you know what the U.S. Government has done, or is doing, with absolute certainty? Are you a high level intelligence officer with direct information? Of course not. It’s comments like the ones you are repeating from unofficial sources that is so common to low information individuals which you appear to be. There needs to be time to investigate and determine the whats and whys. As an example, this site has indicated that this person is a radical Lefty. How ignorant is that! Fascism is not a “Left” ideal it comes from the Center and Right. Socialism and Communism would be Left. So, given that you buy in to the story that has been presented how do you explain that he seems to be upset with the Left, Center, and Right? You can’t because you don’t have enough details. So, with the lack of evidence you are filling in the details with your imagination and fear? Your “This was no lone gunman” statement is a great example of a person stating something as fact with “Glenn Beck” certainty when there’s no way to know yet and that’s for certain.

  • You can bet that if Mr. Loughner were a muslim, we’d be hearing quite a few people in Rep. Giffords’ party admonishing against holding his actions against muslims in general, and telling us that his actions had nothing to do with islam. But as we see, the Tea Party has already been blamed, even though there’s nothing to indicate that Loughner had anything to do with the Tea Party movement. It would be nice if the principle of “blame the individual who is actually responsible” were to be applied consistently.

  • SparkyVA

His fascination with basic logic constructs reminds me of someone deep into drugs discovering some basic truth and becoming obsessed with it. I hope they report his blood tests. The left is already blaming Sarah Palin because Sarah targeted this woman for defeat at the polls. The flag burning though would have him kicked out of any TEA party – only liberals do that. Not saying he was a liberal. Liberals generally won’t touch a gun. He may be unclassifiablely unique. Lets be slow in judging him as anything but mental. Remember Regan was shot to impress a girl the shooter was hot on. It sometimes comes down to something that stupid.

  • Markus Valiant

  • Ayn Rand was an atheist too… How quickly her fans forget.
Anyway, last time I checked, going back to the gold standard wasn’t exactly a Marxist position.
And this is fun: “he was a pot head & into rock like Hendrix,The Doors, Anti-Flag. I haven’t seen him in person since ’07 in a sign language class.”
Wow, what an intimate insight by a close friend who hasn’t seen him in three years.

  • Walt, I think you put it in perspective — here’s an individual with a deranged mind who decided the time had come to make his mark. It’s irrelevant to try to label it as being a leftist or rightist — it wasn’t a rational discourse or ideology that caused this. I know that it’s hard to understand how anyone can be that crazy and still be a functional person. I’m sure we will hear from in his parents in due course about how he was a nice kid who had a long history of mental problems. Horrifying tragedy.
Maybe it’s time to check the ever increasing virulent rhetoric from our political discourse.

  • Shawna

Looks like Catie Parker took her twitter page down – man that was QUICK!! Thank God Pamela was quick on the screen grab so we can try to put this guy’s history in perspective. I’m sure there will be more unearthed…especially if PamelaWoman is on it!! Thanks for getting ahead of it.

  • Cowardly_Prez

Liberals would want to minimize his political leaning, if he turns out to be a left-wing shooter.

  • T-money

I’m at a loss of words about this. I’m a conservative – but am very saddened by this and feel terrible for the victims, including Giffords.
I was born in Tucson (don’t live there now) and have driven through that intersection 1,000’s of times, been in that shopping center hundreds of times. Lived in a couple different locations within 5 mins from that intersection.
I guess the political taste of it really diminishes when it’s something in your hometown.

  • Markus Valiant

Of course you’re right in your statement regarding the fact that just having the name Socialist in a name doesn’t necessarily make it socialist.
But if you look at the doctrine of National Socialism, it has almost nothing in common with right-wing politics, but has quite a lot in common with socialism and all it’s different flavors.

  • Monty

Just another sick in the head America hating leftist, poisoned by lies from the liberal teacher’s unions and the leftist media. I pray for all of the victims of his hate.

  • T-money

Interesting, he went to my highschool too.

  • Shawna

    I mean *GellerWoman”. :|
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and families involved. What a tragedy.

  • lilredbird

Ah yes, didn’t take long for the army of god to get around to blaming us atheists. OK, Wisco, my name is Linda and I’ve been an Objectivist and an atheist for about 45 years now. My email is oceanfloor1@msn.com if you would like to vent your spleen against us by screaming abuse for your god and your genteljesusmeeknmild at me, feel free, I’m used to if damn sick and tired of it. That goes for the rest of you good godfearin’ bible thumpers.
But I will never sit at the back of the bus because of it.
If all you care about is that this murderous psychotic fuckwit is atheist, Wisco, then we have nothing to talk about anyway.
In case you haven’t noticed, Wisco, you oblivious fool, this exceptionally fine and effective website is named after Ayn Rand’s most famous novel. You going to start harassing Pam to change the name to something “acceptable to god” now? In referring to Rand’s “fans”, are you not aware that you are referring to Pam — who has done more in the past year to fight the jihad than most bible-thumping mainstream-to-leftard pastors have done in the past 10? — in a denigrating manner, but that’s all right of course, because your god would approve?
Since this Loughner’s being an atheist is the most important aspect of this to you, does that mean you think all of us who are atheist should get out of the fight against the Left and Islam so your gods can lead a pure, god-fearing crusading army against them?

    leftwing wacko.
but, the left will do their usual warp and call him teaparty.
jew hate is obvious if mein kampf was a ‘favorite book’. who the hell has that as a favorite book other than a jew-hating slime? so you know that was part of his hatred of the congresswoman since she was vocally jewish.
so now we have a jewish congress person murdered for being….a jewish congress person.
welcome to wacko left world…where they do the crime and then the slime blames the conservatives…
(the media is doing it already….so who will america believe? let’s hope pamela geller!!!)

  • eib

I’m not surprised by this at all.
Liberals claim to be principled, but the fact is that they are drawn much by the power of violence and brutality.
It is for this reason that so many of them support Islam actively.
They want to harness the beast, ingratiate the dragon and direct the monster of destruction to their ends.

  • thereisnomiddle

Certified Lefty, huh? Nicolo Machiavelli would be proud of your quick work

  • laura

    name is confirmed as Loughner

  • queenofcapitola

from what I am finding in research, this guy was looking like a left leaning radical of the Alinsky/Van Jones/Bill Ayers style.. and has stated it several places..
There is no connection with the Tea Party.. it is NOT what the Tea Party is about at all.. but I can see by reading the thread here, the progressive/commies will point the finger at the right, but bear in mind.. we on the right DO RESEARCH.. we don’t blindly accuse people…
Congresswoman Giffords was a conservative Democrat, and use to be a Republican.. she was supportive of many of the ideals that the left are against.. and I have a great respect for her and her family…
I think people need to stop with the finger pointing.. and listen for a while.. including AZ offiial that is already blaming this on the Tea Party.. which is rediculous.

  • laura

Laughner was the original reported name–it was incorrect-Loughner is the proper and correct spelling of the suspect’s name.

No, my guess is Atlas is not shrugging as it is now confirmed the suspect’s name is Loughner.

If the shooter was a Liberal, he ceased being one the moment he became violent.
    Liberalism demands non-violent resistance.
Become violent and yku’re disqualified as a Liberal.

  • Cowardly_Prez

So a person is a liberal up till the point they commit some violent crime? Nice dodge, but we’re not buying it.

  • Arletta

Everyone is trying so desperately to make this guy one of the “other teams” guys and make her their own. The facts are simple, she is a Democrat elected official, and he is a nut job. Based on his video’s he hated the government as a whole and if a Republican elected official had been the one to be at that Safeway today then it would have been a Republican killed by a nut job. Either way, quit trying to get sympathy for your own cause and give the sympathy where it is due and ONLY where it is due, the victims and their families.

  • steward

Given those sentiments… maybe the Congresswoman was not the primary target (she survived) but the dead US Federal District Judge was actually the target.

  • Ayn

OMG he’s a leftist that read the Communist Manifesto! Oh wait, he also read We The Living. Seriously, this guy is a 22 year old nut, and I highly doubt he follows any specific political ideology.

  • mlnreplyer

Why would a liberal shoot a liberal?

  • Cowardly_Prez

I think the point the right is trying to make is that ideology does matter, unlike what some on here wish to believe. The right is trying to say a certain ideology can lead people down a destructive path.
I’ll give you an example and you look it up yourself. Heard about those Australian twin girls that shot themselves in the head in a suicide pact they had? One died, the other didn’t. They found some books in their luggage. I’ll let you find out the type of ideology they were feeding their brain with that led them to that point where they tried to commit suicide.

  • TBauer

What is it with you people? Everything that happens anymore you blame it on the goverment…. Call it what it is, he is a nut case. No one hired him to go on a shooting rampage, nor did the goverment brainwash him into what he is today. He is a scumbag that has a issues. It’s comments like yours that cause other people to do this crap!!!

  • TBauer

Tea Party has nothing to do with this! People are so stupid….

  • ascap_scab

Thank you Atlas Pam for taking the side of the shooter. You’re a peach!!

  • Jennifer Schmidt

Among his favorite books is We the Living, by Ayn Rand.

  • TBauer

    Where you from stupid?

  • I call fake on that facebook page. When his name was first reported (incorrectly) as Jared Laughner, I did a Facebook search within minutes. Nada. There seems to be quite a few now, some more obviously fake then others.

  • Arletta

My point is ideology doesn’t matter when we’re talking about mentally unstable people and horrific crimes they sometimes commit. No one can watch his video’s and not know he was mentally unstable to begin with. If we look at the history of violent crimes of mentally unstable people and the ideology behind them, I believe we will find a lot of those people claim some sort of religious belief caused them to do it (The voice of god told me to, etc), but does that mean somehow religion is to blame for it? No, the person’s instability is.
But if the right wants to make this point, does this mean FOX will stop scaring people into hating Democrats? Does it mean that Palin is going to stop telling people to “reload” or will avoid things like the “democrat hit list” or those sort of things? Because I completely agree that if you are going to feed fear and hatred into someone’s mind on a daily basis (FOX, Beck, Palin) that you might tip unstable people into potentially committing horrible acts. I would love to see the right learn a lesson from this, but already they have turned on the spin to yell about the left doing what the right is doing everyday, so I doubt anything will change.

  • callie

Dang, after reading some of these comments I wonder why more horrors like this have not occurred. This was dreadful and no need exists to blame it on anyone other than the shooter. We don’t know what twisted his mind. We cannot rationalize irrational behavior.
And even as I say that, I offer this. His comment about not “trusting in God” came after his rant about currency not being supported by precious metals. I think he was referencing the “In God We Trust” wording on our coins.

  • While this atrocity appears to be motivated more by mental illness than politics, it is worth noting that Rep. Giffords had very recently been the target of LEFTIST hatred and vitriol due to her support for securing our southern border and her vote against Nancy Pelosi. I wrote about it at my blog and also have video of Congresswoman Giffords posted there:
    http://zillablog.marezilla.com/2011/01/about-gabrielle-giffords.html
I generally don’t like most politicians, but I liked what she had to say when I saw her on TV just yesterday. I am praying for her and all of the others who were harmed today and their families. My heart breaks for that little girl who was murdered today and her family.

  • Richard 2

Fascism is on the left, the founders of Fascism stated they were creating a Marxism that works. The big difference between socialism and fascism is that fascism allows the ownership of private property but limits what you can do with your property through regulations.

  • BuffyG

Nazi is an abbreviation used in English for the Nationalsocialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (English: National Socialist German Worker’s Party). If you think this means they were a “left-wing” phenomenon, you really don’t know anything about German history from Versailles to the fall of the Third Reich. The Nazis blamed Jews and Communists for German defeat in WWI, and they rejected both communism and liberalism in the general (rather than partisan) political and economic sense, as well as humanism, viewing the substance of human character to exist not in the abstract form of universal humanity but in more specific national (völkisch, a term that is not strictly translatable into English) types that were rather more mythical (Germanic or Nordic) than racial in the way we might understand, although they were big on pseudo-scientific racial attributes and historical/anthropological speculation about how these races or nations of people came to be.
National socialism advocated a German national community (Volksgemeinschaft), contrasting significantly with the internationalist bent of much of the socialism of the time and generally indifferent to the notion of class as an essential element of socio-economic or political identity (e.g. you wouldn’t hear Nazis complaining about bürgerlich aka bourgeois types as enemies of the proletariat). Hitler viewed himself not as a partisan but as a devoted nationalist happy to declare plainly that he would ruthlessly eliminate all enemies of the German people, and the more left-wing you were, the more likely you were to match his definition of the enemy..
The Nazis were generally hostile to religion for moderating essentially mortal competition between national communities. They weren’t particularly friendly towards Christianity, and the Hakenkreuz or swastika, was intended to replace the Christian cross as a symbol as an “Aryan” symbol. The term “Aryan” is associated with Nordic or Germanic people in the Nazi view, which goes again to their mythic form of nations. Rather than understanding the cradle of civilisation to exist in the more southern climate of India or the Middle East, the Nazis insisted variously that it was originally in the area now populated by Germanic people, where the harsh, cold climate began to develop their hale and hearty superiority. Alternatively, the Germanic people came from Atlantis. All of this is mostly to say that their notion of races or nations or types had very little to do with any kind of scientific or historical facts, only ideal attributes. If you’ve seen Europa, Europa, you may remember that Solomon Perel, an Ashkenazi Jew mistaken for a German and inducted into the Hitlerjugend, is told that he in fact has various measurable Aryan attributes, which tells you just how little were Nazis methods of determining race had to do with science.
(Despite a great deal of misunderstanding on the point, Nietzsche despised anti-Semitism and pan-Germanism and considered himself stateless, having renounced Prussian citizenship to teach in Basel, but of predominantly Polish descent, which appears to be somewhat short of the truth. His brother-in-law and sister, who controlled his literary estate, were, however, anti-Semites and part of group that attempted to found New Germania in Paraguay in the late 1880s [which lead to the brother-in-law’s suicide], and long after the philosopher’s death his sister established a state-supported archive with his name under the Nazis, thus lending her brother’s reputation, which she had already tried to influence decisively with her posthumous creation of the Will to Power and its presentation as his masterwork, to that of the party. When she died in 1935, Hitler and another senior Nazis attended her funeral.)
While Nazism tended to have quite an ideological range in the earlier years (some early adherents were a mix of radical right and left ideology), the party long maintained adherence to what is known as the Führerprinzip, or leadership principle: the party and later the nation was to submit to the personal leadership of Hitler. Insofar as the Nazi’s positioned themselves as both nationalist and a socialist worker’s party, this was to show that they transcended traditional political divisions between left and right and were intent on appealing to urban workers who might otherwise gravitate towards the Communists or Social Democrats.
Just after the Reichstag fire, the Nazi plurality government passed what was known as the Gleichschaltung legislation, another term that’s quite difficult to translate, rendered variously as “enabling” but ultimately having a sense closer to “coercion”, which essentially made the Führerprinzip the law of the land and allowed Hitler to rule by decree. One of the consequences of this was the initial establishment of concentration camps (a terms mistakenly used interchangeably with the death or extermination camps of Aktion Reinhard that later evolved into the Final Solution, which perpetrated genocide against the Jews in a completely distinct way from other forms of political violence under the Third Reich but developed from smaller-scale “eugenics” program such as the T4 program, which targeted people with severe disabilities), to which members of the German left were sent as the chief political prisoners, along with Jews, homosexuals, Seventh Day Adventists, Romani, Sinti, and others. Following the Nazi invasion of Poland, similar institutions were created, including the initial, primary camp at Auschwitz, for Polish intellectuals, politicians, clergy, and anyone else who would keep alive the notion of an independent Polish nation.
But, on the other hand, it also turns out that this guy says he read Republic, Brave New World, Animal Farm, Fahrenheit 451, and, uh, We the Living, among others. Funny how Marx and Hitler are extracted and the Rand title disappears from the list, while we’re given a summary that this guy is a “left-wing nut”, as though that has any bearing. There’s no convincing reason to think that any of these books bear the relation to his actions that, say, The Catcher in the Rye bore to Mark David Chapman shooting John Lennon.
For that matter, is there any reason to think that his politics are at all relevant? This guy talks about grammar but doesn’t seem to demonstrate much command of it in his YouTube videos, and I’m reasonably sure that “conscience dreaming” is a malapropism. The fact that it’s like the rest of what I’ve seen of this site in that last respect doesn’t lead me to believe that a contributors to this blog is statistically more likely than the rest of the American public to go out and shoot anyone, let alone shoot up a public gathering. As far as I can tell, you’ve decided he’s a “left wing nut” largely because someone more or less said he’s a right wing nut, and only after a taking a bizarre path to this conclusion have you found someone who went to high school with him and said that he had a lot of liberal thoughts in 2007. This could be dynamite for your “Rebuttals to False Charges and Media Lies” section!

  • Richard 2

Correct you need to study more, fascism was started by former communist who wanted to create a Marxism that works. Before Hitler ordered the invasion of the USSR the left proudly claimed fascism as a leftist ideology, after the invasion they decided it had to be right wing.

  • Richard 2

And you think the Soviet Union and Red China are any different?

  • Mike

Sorry Markus, but you must not read much. There are very few that would be consistent with extreme leftism. Again his view is far more anti-establishment at large. Seems of convenient that you (and Pam Gellar – Atlas Shrugs indeed) happen to miss the Ayn Rand novel in Laughner’s list of favorites.
Animal Farm = Dystopian = satiric condemnation of communism
Brave New World = Dystopian = critical of capitalism, socialism, sexual promiscuity and loss of individuality.
The Wizard Of OZ = apolitical = sometimes interpreted to social upheaval in late 1800’s
Aesop Fables = apolitical = usually listed to show some consideration of morality
The Odyssey = apolitical = usually listed to show appreciation of classic era
Alice Adventures Into Wonderland = apolitical = some criticism of Victorian era standards, but mostly listed by people to show appreciation of complex literary allusion in the dream/nonsense framework
Fahrenheit 451 = Dystopian = very critical of government censorship
Peter Pan = apolitical = need to isolate from and fight adult establishment
To Kill A Mockingbird = anti-racism = critique of racial inequality in America. Also provides some origins of a racial hero to fight against inequalities for those that are oppressed.
We The Living = far right politics = THIS IS AYN RANDS FIRST NOVEL. Kinda funny that Pam Gellar seems to skip over this one (Atlas Shrugged indeed).
Phantom Toll Booth = apolitical = just a kids fantasy book
One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest = anti-institutional = considers the loss of human identity under authoritarianism
    Pulp = I don’t know it…so I can’t say
Through The Looking Glass = apolitical = more fantasy
The Communist Manifesto = far left = probably selected to identify himself as anti-establishment in an American sense. Most people who criticize a view also try to identify themselves as knowing it avert criticism. Loughner’s own anti-government writings do not support a communist view point.
Siddhartha = a political = A boys spiritual journal in the time of the Buddha. Suggests a possible lack of identification with Christian viewpoint, but may also reflect a self perception as a spiritual explorer. Again, certainly a good hallmark of “anti-establishment”.
The Old Man And The Sea = apolitical = usually interpreted as a Christian Allegory. People often identify with the futile perseverence of the old man.
Gulliver’s Travels = apolitical = a scathing satire of human nature. In the end Gulliver cannot reintegrate into society because of his new perspective. A fitting choice for someone who again sees themself as anti-establishment.
Mein Kampf = political, but neither left or right = Hitler’s book on his life and “National Socialism”. Note, national socialism is not at all akin to socialism as commonly conceived in the US. Indeed, the ideal of national socialism was: “the creation of a self-sufficient CORPORATIST economy and a single-party state”. You would be hard pressed to find Americans on the left who would seek that ideal.
The Republic = apolitical = Platos vision of a Utopia ruled by “Philosopher-kings”. Platos text (based on Socrates teachings) is often attributed as the inspiration for totalitarianism. Seems doubtful that Laughner would be promoting totalitarianism given his own videos and actions.
Meno = apolitical = Platos development of the philosophy of “Platonic Idealism” in the form of a Socratic dialogue.

  • Mike

Pam Gellar needs to look a bit closer at the full list of books. Kind of convenient that she missed the one by Ayn Rand.

I missed none of the books, I checked up the few I didn’t know.
As I said the collection has a fair amount of left-wing nuggets.
The perpetrator of this crime was by the way a left-winger according to people who studied with him and knew him.
But you can relax, just because he was a left-winger murderer doesn’t mean all are. But he was.

No way is the TEA Party responsible for this, because we TEA Party people don’t believe in shooting people we disagree with.
We do, however, believe in the right to VOCALLY disagree with someone. But that’s as far as our disagreement would go.
Unless you consider legitimate political activity, such as campaigning and voting.

  • Person of the Book

They who blame the TEA Party aren’t stupid; they know that the TEA Party has nothing to do with this.

I can’t help but note the intellectual dishonesty of this blog poster to point out he lists The Communist Manifesto as one of this guy’s favorite books, while conveniently leaving out the guy lists We The Living…before the manifesto.

His words. Classic Tea Party bullcrap.
In conclusion, reading the second United States Constition, I can’t trust the current government because of the ratifications: The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar.

In the middle of a shocking tragedy, trust a lefty like Lopez to comment early on in the day interjected The Tea Party. How tasteless and classless is THAT?? Typical left-wing nut
In no way would a Republican go off on a tangent about a Democrat if a Republican was shot. Again, it’s typical for these lefties. Lopez should be ashamed to bring POLITICS into the middle of this tragedy. I would bet anything that Congresswoman Giffords would most certainly frown upon that.
I can also guarantee that this shooter suffers from serious psychosis. Yes, there are mean people out there who kill, but this man is very, very ill and not on this planet. Yes, he should pay (and he will never see freedom again), but this was not political in a sane sense.

  • Mike

Please clarify which are the left-wing nuggets? I see far more that would be consistent with anti-government or anti-establishment than left-wing. I also do not yet see any credible evidence that he identified as left-wing. The one young lady saying she new him is not a reliable account in the least because these type of events always elicit fakers (not saying she is, but you can’t take such a claim seriously).
Please note, I am not saying he was a right-wing murderer. Rather, I am just making the claim that Pam Gellar’s claim based on a couple books is shoddy and notable for its lack of noting the right-wing classics that accompanied Mien Kampf and the Communist Manifesto.

  • Arletta

Choi, it wasn’t just Palin that has been pushing the idea of killing democrats, here’s the actual discription of an event just this past June that was held by Giffords Tea Party opponenent Jesse Kelly…
“Get on Target for Victory in November Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office Shot a fully automatic M15 with Jesse Kelly”

In theory what you say is true. What the Nazi’s actually did though was not theory, it was very real, and it was not Socialistic in any sense of the word. Their brand of Fascism was Ring-wing with corporations having a great say. Talk to one of those people that are still alive in our country that has a numbered tattoo on their arm. I did. It was a dictatorship pure and simple.
Fascism, as it has been practiced, is far-right wing, especially in Hitler’s Germany. Look at our country. We are becoming a Fascist state day-by-day. Corporation’s are able to put as much money into campaign ads as they like. Even foreign corporations. In our case, which party is embracing and benefiting from this alliance? It’s the Ring wing.

This person appears to be an anarchist. He’d have no use for any political party affiliations. He would want to destroy the government.

Hitler and Stalin, Nazis and Communists were socialists. Hitler was well versed in Marxism and had read Marx and Engels. The Nazi Party was the National Socialist Party.

Loughner had multiple run-ins with a community college, and he ultimately declared the school to be unconstitutional. Add his anti-federalism, insistence on a gold standard, atheism, and love for “We the Living” and it is clear that his flavor of kool aid was Ayn Rand.

Don’t hold your breath, the left never apologizes for lying.

  • Johhnny

I love how liberals make up their own facts. If he was reading Communinest Manifesto
that means he is left wing DUH !!!!!. Hitler was a Socialist. He was reading Hitlers book.
The congress woman was a strong supporter of the 2nd ammendment and border control.
It’s been reported that this left wing nut didn’t think she was liberal enough. We need
to weed out communists in our country. And get behind conservative democrats because their are fewer
    everyday.
This is the third left wing terrorist we have had this year. First the eco terrorist. Then the left wing nut in Florida who thought he was entitled to unemployment so he held the school board hostage.
Then we have this guy. Communist Manifesto and this is blamed on Sarah Palin please give me a break.

  • Richard 2

An anarchist is far left, so far to the left they make Marx look semi moderate.

  • Richard 2

How can a political ideology that supports big government, big government regulation and wants to prevent private ownership of guns be right wing? You need to read more about what Fascism stands for.

  • Richard 2

Far leftists like the weather underground touch guns, and shot people they disagreed with.

  • Richard 2

Mike you are another one who needs to do some studying about the beliefs and history of fascism, it is not CORPORATIST, that has corporations running the government, Fascism has the government running the corporations. And the Republic is the original utopian philosophy that the left takes their dream from. You also need to study the theory or anarchists, they are farther left then the communists.

  • Richard 2

The history of political violence in the US shows it is almost always started by liberals or others further left, check real history books and not those in the modern schools.

  • Richard 2

Are you going to blame the leftist entertainers and other leftists that are calling for violent revolution because they lost an election? The Republicans are talking about voting people out of office the leftists are talking about killing people they disagree with because they won an election. Notice the difference?

  • Richard 2

Johhnny you are expecting the leftists to look at the facts and use logic, they won’t because facts confuse them, facts complicate their nice little right wing conspiracy theories.

  • Rd

You are all a bunch of idiots if you think nazi is right wing.
Communism and Nazism have strong central governments making them both left wing.
A right wing government would have a smaller less powerful central government.

  • Rd

actually, they need to study less. Sadly, our college professors are a bunch of commies themselves.

  • Bru

Way to jump the gun. ShameonYOU.

  • Dave Thompson

The only reason we’re pointing out his politics is because the left have been trying to link him with the Tea Party and Sarah Palin all day.
We really don’t care about his crazy ass politics.

  • jw

yes moron!!! fascism is Leftist!! Mousilini was a socialist and was always making that point. He is given credit for fascim. So you can try like typical moron liberals and throw it on the right but the reality is Fascism is “LEFTIST”. By the way he literally was a card carrying socialist.

  • Tony

Maybe jumped the shark is more accurate.

  • mm

“I see far more that would be consistent with anti-government or anti-establishment than left-wing.”
He is 22 years old. Anti-Government/Anti-Establishment people of his generation were thoroughly Anti-George W Bush.
The Anti-Establishment movement associated with/and rising from the Baby Boomers carry the largest influence in America and the Western world today. Baby Boomers were influenced by Communist/Socialist idealogy.
    Anti-Establishment = Left-Wing
    Extremism in modern times = Pro-Green, Anti-Traditional Values, Anti-Religion, etc….
The 1960’s represented a rise in Anti-Establishment causes – they were Liberal Democrats at their core. They relished the right to burn the American flag, like the assassin, Loughner.
Loughner is Anti-Establishment. And resented being presented with a Bible prior to Military ‘testing’.

  • MeganF

    Adam and Arletta,
I’m sure you will be equally outraged by the Kos graphics too. Right? You’re not hypocrites are you? I’m sure it was just an ommission on your part not to call for Markos to be similarly tried.

  • MadeUpName

Mussolini was a Socialist; so was Peron and many others. What does that have to do with Nazism? We’re (were initially) speaking to the types of reading material that Jared Loughner is supposed to have chosen as his top picks which did not include Mussolini. So go back to being one of the Useful Idiots of the Right wing and learn what your talking points are for next week and leave thoughtful discussions to those that can or, at least, stay on point.

  • tomjones

If he was a leftist, strange choice to go after pro healthcare bill, pro immigration democrats.he was an idiot or seriously mentally ill.Being left or right doesn’t give licence to kill

  • Hate to say it, but this guy is NOT at all a lefty. This guys a teabagger through and through. You are all idiots! Most of you anyway. Either way he’s nuts and so is the tea party. If he was a lefty why in the hell would he shoot a democrat? Doesn’t make any sense Pamela Gellers an idiot, figures I always find that dumb bitch on links when I search for bullshit!

  • Infidel despiser

‘I won’t pay with currency that is not backed with GOLD or SILVER.’ The man is right. This information is available on the internet. The Fractional Reserve Banking for world economy is 10% over Gold reserves. This is the agreed paper value which is permitted in every country world wide. Paper money today is running at 1000’s of percentages over the Gold reserve value. Our paper money is absolutely worthless and that is why the world economy is on the brink of collapse. Ask your politicians, no, challenge them to tell you the truth. I challenged a Federal Senator in Australia and he began to squirm and bluster and then asked me how I knew these things.
This moron Jared shooting innocent people just shows the frustration of imbeciles who do not agree with the policies of their elected members. He should be hanged in public as an example for all would be murderers and terrorists.

  • Infidel despiser

Julia, I just read your comment. You are a bloody fruit cake and if you don’t like Pamela Geller, why don’t you just crawl under a rock and fade away. The tea party movement is based on solid, godly principles. I don’t suppose a nut job like you would understand that, now would you?
I am an Aussie and I have been following Sarah Palin and the Tea party movement and know that what they stand for is in the best interests of America.

  • Lucinda

We are becoming a Fascist state day-by-day. Corporation’s are able to put as much money into campaign ads as they like. Even foreign corporations. In our case, which party is embracing and benefiting from this alliance? It’s the Left Wing.
Also seems as though the left is trying to incite violence with false accusations against the Tea Party and constant contempt and threats to silence for Palin, and anyone else who disagrees with them. Mr Loughner and Ms Pelosi are classic left wing extremists.

  • Sandy

All the debate about whether Loughner was left- or right-wing extremist is a red herring thrown into the ring by the mainstream media and a few politicians who spoke first and asked questions later. Those who misrepresented and outright fabricated facts owe apologies to the families of the deceased and to the American public for their muckraking blatant exploitation of this tragedy.
Having reviewed the available information above and on other somewhat-more-fact-based web sites, I’ve formed the opinion that Loughner was an idealist who probably had neurotransmitter imbalances (as so many other shooters in the last few years who were on or just came off psychotropic drugs).
I for one would like to see the political discourse shun the cliche “left”, “right”, “red”, “blue” polarizing labels and refocus on what level (if any) of governmental intervention is appropriate for any given issue being discussed. Perhaps then we could stop all the unhelpful posturing and solve some problems.

  • pissed off

THERE IS MORE TO THIS SHOOTING THAN MEETS THE EYE.

  • Nathan

Just to voice what I hope everyone already knows: This scumbag doesn’t represent the right or the left, and neither right-wing nor left-wing political rhetoric made him crazy. People straining to associate Loughner with their political opponents are just embarrassing themselves.

  • TeatardsRtards

So, that makes GW Bush and Ronald Reagan — both of dramatically increased the size of the federal government — left wing? And Bill Clinton would be right wing, given that he reduced the federal government?
Actually, it’s not so much the size of the government, but the freedoms it restricts which determine left vs. right. A left wing government generally restricts private decisions relating to property. A right wing government is more likely to protect the economically powerful through some combination of extreme nationalism and internal scapegoating of a disfavored group.

  • Jackie Boo

Again, this has nothing to do with right or left wing. Many persons who are right and left wing
are in disagreement but they do not shoot or kill over that disagreement. This young man was a lost sole who should have gotten help but never did . How many have we heard that after persons are killed? Should we line them up because in the past 20 years many persons in ( schools especially) have died due to young men just like this. So many cases its unreal. Headline just last Jan 09 ” Portlanders reeled in horror upon learning that a despondent young man had shot nine people — two fatally — and then killed himself on a downtown street”
It has nothing to do with talk show host, Fox news , violent video games right or left wing anything. I keep seeing comments about Fox News lets not forget MSNBC left wing hosts like Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann who are just as mean , nasty and hate mongering as the Rush Limbagh or any other Right wing radio talk show hosts.
Regarding violent games : My son plays violent video games and is the most passive person around, because he does not allow it to affect him and realizes its not real. Many persons play violent games and they don’t go out and massacre people.
This is a a problem that has plagued or society as well as other continents for quite sometime. Read the book ” REAL BOYS , RESCUING OUR SONS FROM THE MYTHS OF BOYHOOD. It is an amazing book that gives amazing insight on why young men commit violent crimes.

  • Brian

Please explain to me how you conclude this nut was a “left winger”.
Granted, he listed the ‘Communist Manifesto’ among his favorite books on his MySpace page, but also listed there were Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’, hardly a ‘left wing’ classic, and ‘We the Living’, laissez-faire capitalist-libertarian Ayn Rand’s first novel in which she took on communism. That would hardly be the usual fare for those of us who favor single-payer healthcare, a humane end to the immigration crisis, racial justice or workers’ rights to join unions!
It’s clear this guy was a nut, off his rocker, plain and simple.
You better check yourself before you wreck yourself!

  • Mike M

The relative political leanings of people can be visualized by drawing a semi-circle, (straight line horizontal line then, using clock face positions, an arc CW from 9:00 to 3:00), imagining firstly a single person standing at the very top, (at the 12:00 position). We could argue all day about this person’s actual political disposition but for the sake of this example I will employ a sterile assignment to such a person – “as close to politically true center as far as anyone could possibly tell” – and let it go at that.
Ignoring ‘conservative vs. liberal’ or ‘republican vs. democrat’ labels we’ll just say ‘left vs. right’ to keep it simple. The further away from the center that anyone stands to either side of 12:00, not only the more are they then leaning in that direction, the more tightly they have to hold on to prevent themselves from slipping off the semi circle in that direction.
This semi circle is then an analogy to person’s grasp of reality within the context of their political self identity; the semi circle itself is like ‘reality’ So, as should be apparent, the further a person stands to either extreme left or right – the more they risk FALLING OFF and losing contact with reality.
Those who do fall off are then no longer in contact with reality. They all fell into the abyss and accumulated in one common pile underneath the diagram. You cannot assign a political leaning to anyone in the pile because they are now indistinguishable from each other all in one heap. In short – they are all insane.
The point of my excercise though is to examine what drives people to the ‘edge’ of the diagram? Did someone push them further and further away from the center or were they drawn to edge on their own?
In that context why are most of us standing near the top on firm ground right now, some of us perhaps even as far as 10:30 or 1:30, but all of us steadfast in our resolve to stay where we are because we instinctively know that going any further either way is ‘risky’? Somehow, most of us all manage to see that so, regardless of whether we are more curious about the edge or someone is trying to push us to the edge – it doesn’t really matter because we will stand our ground because the further we stand from center the greater we will perceive the risk because the better we will see that pile below who fell off.
It appears to me that Jared got himself all the way to an edge, clearly saw the pile below and then willingly jumped off to join them killing people along the way down.
If you do not mind the religious connotation, those in the pile are in Hell. The majority of us don’t want to even be able to see that pile below and try to stick to what we each think is the ‘middle’, for some the firmest ground is measured by way of seeing who is standing on either side of them. Our true posiiton is therefore relative but no matter which way any of us are leaning – we stand firm in our belief of what is good and what is evil.
If you are an atheist and ~think~ that you can identify between good and evil as well as a person of faith, allow me to postulate that Jared probably thought he could too.

  • mike m

“Nazi Germany was a dictatorship pure and simple.” And the USSR was not?
But I tend to agree that the more politically extreme a person becomes – the harder it becomes to identify which political side they ‘belong’ to…

  • Pat

Let’s not forget that among Mein Kampf and the Manifesto, Ayn Rand herself made his favorites list with We the Living. If you’re going to report, try to do it with just a bit more objectivity.

  • Brian

Yeah, not to mention Joseph Goebbels.

  • Brian

Uh-huh. Like that well known leftist J. Edgar Hoover’s little unconstitutional violent rampage known as COINTELPRO, huh? Right.

  • Fez

Except that in addition, the Nazis were basically genetically mean and believed they were a superior race with superior ideals …in fact you could just as well substitute “exceptional” for superior…
…you know, that word Palin uses to flatter her followers, to tell them they are better than everyone else, chosen by god, exceptional simply because they were born in an “exceptional” country. (except for them there “terror babies” and non republicans, I assume)

  • Yeah, Mein Kampf is on the favored reading list of every liberal loon. Riiiight. The last time I ever saw gymnastics this vigorous was during the last summer Olympics.
How the fuck did you ever get a book contract, Geller?

  • Mark

Its not just him to blame for this unspeakable monstrous act of terror. ALL leftist media, ‘artist’, academia, press and progressive ‘intellectuals’ have created this monster. This imbecile is their product. I hope that one day America will wake up, but it could be one day too late.

  • Arletta

I think you must have accidently put leftist when you must have meant republicans and tea partiers. When they lost the 08 elections the fear mongering went into overdrive and the last two years we’ve heard nothing but violent revolution from repubs and tea partiers. Tea parties are nothing but a promotion of racism and violence. I always find it amazing how those on the right will scream and cry that the left is doing something when all along the right does it every day. The right has spent years now blaming the left for everything wrong in the world, then sit there and block any attempt to make things better, then blame the left for it not getting done. Then when something like this happens the blame machine goes into overdrive. You’re not fooling anyone, the right purposely divided our country and purposely drilled into the less intelligent and less stable that the world is ending and it’s all because of the dems and they must be stopped at all cost, reguardless of how many lies they have to spread to do it, and Richard, you’re entire post was a complete lie. Democrats call for votes, Republiteaparties call for violence. Guess you finally got what you wanted.

  • Kyle

No, Nazism is not a right-wing ideology. It is merely a variant of communism. Try reading some history.

  • Richard 2

The professors usually are, I was talking about studying on his or her own, but people aren’t taught to dig up the facts of history and make up their own minds any more.

  • Richard 2

He was never in the military, he was turned down, probably because he failed the psych tests.

  • Richard 2

She wasn’t supporting the illegal immigrants, that is the reason the poster on Daily Kos said she was dead to him.

  • Richard 2

I said almost, try reading the entire sentence instead of picking out what you want it to mean.

  • Richard 2

No I meant leftist, Ted Ralls is one of those calling for a violent revolution, and they don’t come much further to the left then him. You are the one twisting the facts, the Republicans call for voting people out of office the left is the one that calls for violence. Go back under your bridge.

  • Richard 2

You are confusing Corporatism with Fascism, Fascism is the government controlling the businesses, Corporatism is the business controlling the government. And if the Unions can contribute to politicians so can the Corporations, that is called being equal under the law. But the left wants one law for those that support them and a different one for those who oppose them.

  • Richard 2

As others have said, crazies are often motivated by politics, the idea that they aren’t is unrealistic. The left started blaming the right before the facts were known, as they always do and are now upset because the facts don’t support them.

  • You know what bugs me, and I fail to understand, How in the hell does fascism fit in between Convervatism and Anarchy on the political spectrum? I do believe it is the liberal proffessor’s way of “evening” up the political spectrum.

  • MadeUpName

In what dictionary are you finding Anarchy defined this way?
Try looking it up in Webster’s dictionary and you’ll see it says chaos, disorder,…,anarchists being described as anti-government. They are not Left or Right. They want to destroy it altogether… Left and Right.
Do you possibly have other misconceptions in your lexicon that you attribute to the Left or Right?

  • Randiod

Funny how comments pointing out the guy listed an Ayn Rand book as his favorite keep getting deleted. I wonder what Rand would have said about someone so willing to distort and deny reality.

  • tea baggers

if any of you trailer trash bastards ever read his actual post, you would see he is in no way left. the guy seems to be pretty inline with those consitituion beating inbreeders at sarah palin rallies

  • teech

Surely the most cogent, sensible and factual surmise on the subject…thank you Buffy!

  • teech

Oh fer God’s sake, read the REST of Buffy’s post!

  • teech

Did you all NOT see “We The Living” in there? C’mon! He’s a loon, not a politico.

  • teech

Um…no it doesn’t. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read Buffy’s post above. Socialism is focused on an economic theory that there are stages to go through in order for workers to have a collective ownership of society. Nazism is a nationalistic philosophy rooted in white supremacy, and the identity of Germanic peoples and their need to unite in superiority. Lenin, Marx, et.al. had little to say of race. Give this a break. They just aren’t the same thing!

  • teech

    Amen!

  • teech

Oh here we go again…please read Buffy’s post above! Nazism and Socialism are NOT the same. Communists were imprisoned under Hitler. NATIONAL Socialism is not the same as “socialism” as a stage of economic development in the theories of Marx/Engels.

  • teech

Hitler was NOT a leftist. I wouldn’t call him a right winger either. *sigh* cannot the discussion be more nuanced than nyah, nyah, nyah?!

  • Sea Waves

    Nicely Done!

  • Josh

Are you aware that NAZI is an acronym for (as translated) the National Workers Socialist Party/Union? Given that Nazi policy was pretty much communist (they mandated public education only – from pre-preschool on up). From a U.S. perspective, the “Left” seeks greater govt. control, while the “Right” seeks less govt. interference. Now, what a man claims to be doesn’t always match up with what he actually is (e.g. G.W. Bush & the Patriot Act, a ‘Right’ president enacting a ‘leftist’ bill).

  • d

sounds like a libertarian through and through

  • Flashback, remember the so called Right Wing tax protester that flew a plane into an IRS building, the TV was all abuzz with accusations that he was a right wing militia nazi. Then OOOOOOPS turns out he was a registered democrat, his suicide note quoted Marx.

  • disgusting and slanderous

Your depiction of the perpetrator as “left-wing” disgusting and slanderous. This is the work of an ill mind…no more, no less.

  • Mo

I have to say that whilst it seems from his writings that he was incapable of expressing his thoughts in an articulate way, (ironic in view of his supposed antagonism towards illiteracy and ignorance of others) some of the issues he touches on are not actually as “loony” as most people are wont to scream from the rooftops. On the face of it yes, he was disturbed and acted out his fears and concerns in a violent and ill considered frenzy with tragic results.
However, I think that the whole political argument is irrelevant – after all, the truth is that the dual party political circus in the US is as illusory as is the belief that you still live in a constitutional republic. The political posturing, labels and debates are nothing more than distractions; a pantomime that muddies the waters, preventing people from reaching any consensus or acting with any solidarity against the tyranny of those in power and the issues that really impact lives and societies.
One of the most important books published in the last ten years in my opinion, will give many ordinary American citizens some shattering insights into the root causes of the societal problems that beset their country, as well as those of Britain and other western industrial nations.
I will quote one line taken from a letter written by the author, following the school shootings in Littleton Colorado. If you read the book, the ominous relevancy of this one line will be absolutely clear to you.
“Is it too far fetched to assume that he who is trained like an animal may just end up behaving like an animal?”
You can download a free electronic copy of the book – The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America – from the following link:
    http://deliberatedumbingdown.com
When you read some of the revelations you will probably be outraged, indeed you should be in my opinion, but remember that these policies cross all party lines and have been used and continue to be used to warp the minds of your children and in many cases yourselves. Perhaps some of the misguided young man’s rantings will make a little more sense to you if you take the time to learn and consider for yourself the implications of the actions of those who have implemented and supported this insidious and long term social engineering.
What this young man did and whatever caused him to do it, cannot simply be put to rest by calling him a “sick puppy” or whatever other epithet comes to mind and helps you feel better about it. It may be a generalization but we are all, to a degree, a product of our societies, and those who make policy in society have to be held accountable in some measure.
Please read the book and having done so think carefully about the impact it has on the entire fabric of a population. Hold it up against what passes for “entertainment” or “reality” and the direction so many of us are all traveling in, the loss of traditional values in so many things – relationships, marriage, family, moral values and self reliance and responsibility and all the other aspects of our lives which people with an agenda manipulate to illicit whatever behavior or viewpoint they decide is acceptable and desirable.
If you do not feel at least some measure of anger and dismay at the things you will learn, it only goes to prove that the social engineers have, in large part, achieved their objectives. What you do with your new found knowledge is in your hands but perhaps you will begin to question more, and become less inclined to accept so much without verifying the facts for yourself. The lessons of history are clear and fair warnings to us all of the dangers of the road we seem to be heading down.
Turning off the TV and ignoring the main stream media outlets would be a good starting point for many.

  • d

hitler was also a nationalist and racist like a republican. as well a liberal-democrat in europe is the term for a conservative.

  • Craig Spitler

Is Jared Loughner a “leftie” or a “tea party” nut?
It is interesting that so many people are preoccupied with “left” and “right!” This terminology originally referred to the seating arrangement of people in European parliaments to keep warring parties separated. To argue whether NAZIs or communists are “left” or “right” is a meaningless exercise, as both parties by their unruly anti-social behavior must be separated by physical distance. One might just as well argue that one is “up” and the other “down,” or one is “North” and the other “South.” Arguing left or right is such a one-dimensional exercise and would do credit to the Hegelians that thought it up! (While we argue left or right, they are slowly, but surely, moving us from a position of personal rights and freedom to a position of state authority over every aspect of our lives!) Violence from the right is no more to be tolerated than violence from the left. But neither is tyranny!
In our American society, there seem to be two major inclinations: those who most prize personal freedom and responsibility, and those who most prize security and order. To say that Democrats or Republicans have a lock on either or both of these inclinations is ludicrous!
Democrats prize freedom from busy-body moralists that would impose narrow social sanctions on the public. They also feel the need for society in general to take care for the well-being of the individual, perhaps even by compulsion. Similarly, the Republican prizes the prerogative to make personal choices without the busy-body intervention of “the state.” Republicans also believe that society has a responsibility for the well-being of individuals, but voluntarily, …except when they too think compulsion is necessary. Both believe in order… Both believe in freedom… Both believe in security…
The distinguishing dimension that most concerns me is how much power the elites of society have, to compel the general populace, be it government, religion, or whatever. When this power is absolute, we have “tyranny.” When this power is non-existent, we have “anarchy.”
History shows that people hate both extremes! In anarchy, the individual is at risk from every other member of society, who can do ANYTHING they can get away with. In tyranny, the individual loses all power to the elite authority, to make even the simplest choices in his or her life.
So we try in society to strike a balance.
Violence is a desperate ultimate attempt by an individual to regain power in their own lives. That a man would consider an American politician, like Gabriella Giffords, such a threat in his personal life, as to necessitate murder, is remarkable! Was she too “conservative?” Was she too “liberal?” Did she have a gun trained on him? Either we do not see all the picture, or this individual is seriously imbalanced.
It is quite unfair to call him a “lefty” or a “tea party” nut, because the overwhelming majority of progressives and conservatives alike, would never, ever, consider violence to be the answer to their problems. Rational people only fight when there is no other option.
Let us vow to be neither “left” or “right” for such people are not stable enough to be allowed into each others company, for fear of the mayhem that would result. American are made of much better stuff!
The Hegelians that get us to argue right and left, are dividing us and trying to get us to see the other as in-human, only worth our contempt. And thus, while we fight, they slowly take control over our lives.
It begins with laws that give one part of society the right to encroach on the personal freedoms of another segment of society: what they can do with their property, who they can associate with, etc.
Then in Hegelian fashion, they see-saw a struggle between the factions, pretending to help each in turn, to get the upper hand; while all the time taking more control for themselves.
This isn’t Sarah Palin versus Barach Obama, it is world elites versus decent people who are just trying to enjoy this little bit of the cosmos that they currently occupy!
    Don’t be USED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Almondine

I have not seen any proof that Jared Loughner was a righty or a lefty. Yes, he liked Mein Kamph and the Communist Manifesto. But he also liked We the Living by Ayn Rand, the same woman who wrote Atlas Shrugged, which is definitely a righty fav. I think he was very confused.

like the black panthers, extremely socialist, and not in any of my school books.

  • You folks on Atlas Shrugged should recognize him as one of your own, I mean, he listed Ayn Rand’s “We the Living” as one of his favorites. Atlas Shrugged, We the Living, paired with Animal Farm, which he also liked, seems to be more convincing in arguing that he’s sympathetic towards you than him liking the Communist Manifesto.

I’m just looking at the numbers Laughner used in his rant in the context of statement about teaching an 8 year old to replace a number with a letter. I think it may be a code and he’s telling us as much. However, if he is claiming we “the listener” are the equivelent of 8 year old children it says a lot about how he felt about other people.
I’m not a math guy but I see the number he typed: 987,123,478,961,876,341,234,671,234,098,601,978,618 and it doesn’t seem random because the key strokes are not all localized. What I mean is numbers like 987, 123, 876 would seem to be a simple pushing of number buttons that are all next to each other either on the top row of the keyboard or on a ten key. However, 478, 961, 341 these numbers appear to be more deliberate as they are not located next to each other and typing them would require effort outside of simply mashing keys. Also the years in his example are not consecutive although the text would suggest that they should be.
I have heard it said the the line between genius and insanity is a thin one. I hate to give this monster credit for anything but I wonder if he has hidden something in the numbers?
